Passage A

Many people love visiting the animal museum. There are lots of fantastic animal stories on show. One surprising story is about pigeons. Pigeons can fly several kilometres. Even when they get lost, they can find their way home.

Scientists do much research on wild animals. They find some animals can recognise themselves in a mirror. Maybe you have never heard of this. There are plenty of wild animals living in forests. Long before, wolves, beavers and many other animals lived there peacefully. Later, some people hunted them. Some animals died, and some kinds started to die out. The dodo is a famous example. Now it is as dead as a dodo.

We should be friendly to wild animals. Animals are our good friends. We cannot hunt them. If we want a world full of animals, we must learn to save them.

Several years ago, some penguins got lost in bad weather. Many people helped to save them. Now people make rules to protect penguins. No one can hunt them. People hope these lovely animals can live peacefully for a long time. Maybe one day, more kinds of animals will come to this island.
