Last week, our school held an activity called “Say No to Pirated Books”. All the students and teachers took part in it, and we learned a lot about copyright protection.
The activity was held in the school hall on Wednesday afternoon. First, a lawyer came to give us a talk. He told us what copyright is, and why we should protect it. He said that writing a book takes the writer a lot of time and hard work. Pirated books not only make the writers lose money, but also hurt the whole book industry. He also told us that selling or buying pirated books is against the law.
After the talk, we watched a short video about how pirated books are made. We saw that pirated books have bad printing, and there are many mistakes in them. They are also bad for our eyes when we read them for a long time.
Then, we signed our names on a big banner, promising that we would never buy or use pirated books. We also gave away our unused books to the village primary school, to help the children there have more books to read.
At the end of the activity, our headmaster gave a speech. He told us that as middle school students, we should take action to protect copyright, and say no to pirated books. We all learned a lot from this activity, and we decided to do our part to build a healthy book market.

“down on the grass and fell asleep”表明是躺在地上睡着了,lie down表示“躺下”,其过去式是lay。
fall off“从……
“But they soon got up”表明小人们摔倒起身之后,继续在主人公身上移动,应用continued。
“finally pulled one hand out of the ropes.”
“coming straight towards me.”
“Would they hurt me? Would they help me?”
“Would they hurt me? Would they help me?”
前文提到“such a strange place”,此处应用strange对应前文。
