The car door opened, and my sister jumped out. I knew I was supposed to follow her, but I was stuck in my seat. My sister was running towards the school and looked back quickly, keeping going. I kept looking at the door, hoping she would come back out and get me. She didn’t come back. My mom had told me that my sister would show me where to go. The day before, I had pictured it all in my head. I would follow her into school, and she would show me where to go. Following her would be easy, and I wouldn’t be scared at all. Now how am I supposed to know what to do? “I have to get to work. You’re going to be okay,” my mom told me as she looked towards the school. I followed her eyes and saw more kids than I had ever seen before. I jumped out of the car, closed the door behind me and took one last look at my mom. There was no turning back now. I started walking into my new school. The doors were too tall and heavy for me. Not knowing where to go, I headed to the only place that I knew in this new, unfamiliar school. I walked nervously into my teacher’s classroom. It was familiar to me since I was here a few short weeks ago for kindergarten orientation(迎新介绍). I could hear my heartbeat in my ears. As I looked around, there were no other kids in the classroom. Maybe I went to the wrong class or it wasn’t the first day of school. I wanted to go home. I looked around the room. There was a wall of shelves filled with toys and board games. “Hi! Before eight o’clock, you can wait in the cafeteria or here if you want,” came a familiar voice. _________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the day went on, I realized I had no reason to cry. ________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 / 6 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高三一轮复习 第11讲 【课程目标】 1. ____________ 2. hip-hop n. ____________ 3. soul n. ____________ 4. virtual adj. ____________ 5. stringed adj. ____________ 6. composition n. ____________ 7. studio n. ____________ 8. composer n. ____________ 9. conductor n. ____________ 10. phenomenon(pl. phenomena) n. ____________ 11. stage n. ____________ 12. thus adv. ____________ 13. band n. ____________ 14. rap n. ____________ vi. & vt. ____________ 15. nowadays adv. ____________ 16. capable adj. ____________ 17. unemployed adj. ____________ 18. romantic adj. ____________ n. ____________ 19. album n. ____________ 20. piano n. ____________ 21. disease n. ____________ 22. ache vi. & n. ____________ 23. treatment n. ____________ 24. lean vt. ____________ 25. moreover adv. ____________ 26. outline n. & vt. ____________ [答案] 1. 9. But I didn’t want to get out of the car. It came from a teacher called Mr White, a man who left me a deep impression in my last visit because of his dark skin and kind smiles he wears. “How about following me to have a short tour around the building?” Before I answered, I found myself picking up the pace to join him. It was his constant comforting and checking whether I was OK that quickly rid me of my uneasiness. As the day went on, I realized I had no reason to cry. Along the short tour around the campus, I met with more new faces, with the same reluctant and doubtful expressions at first sight but relieved smiles by the end of the day. When my mother came to pick me up, she was surprised to see I was waving goodbyes to my new teachers and classmates and was eager to share stories I heard today. It then hit me that there would be a new world for me to explore.
