Teaching Content
This project lesson focuses on teaching students how to look up words following alphabetical order. An English dictionary is an essential tool for English learners, and dictionary lookup is a core independent learning skill.
· Activity 1 provides simplified dictionary sample pages, only including entry words, simple definitions and matching pictures. It is designed to highlight the rule that all entries are arranged in alphabetical order. Students have already learned uppercase and lowercase letters and the alphabet sequence in previous lessons as preparation.
· Activity 2 trains advanced alphabet sorting skills, covering words sharing the first one or several letters. Students learn how to compare subsequent letters to sort words correctly.
· Activity 3 sets up a lookup competition to increase learning fun and help students raise their lookup speed efficiently.
