Desert Animals
Deserts are some of the harshest places on Earth. They have very little water and extreme temperatures. During the day, it can be over 40°C, but at night, it can drop below freezing. Despite these difficult conditions, many animals have found ways to survive in the desert.
The camel is one of the most famous desert animals. It can go for days without water because it stores fat in its hump. When there is no water, the camel uses this fat for energy. Camels also have long eyelashes to keep sand out of their eyes and wide feet to walk on soft sand without sinking.
The fennec fox is another amazing desert animal. It has very large ears, which help it hear prey moving underground and also release extra body heat to keep cool. The fennec fox is active at night when the temperature is lower. During the day, it rests in burrows to avoid the heat.
The kangaroo rat never drinks water! It gets all the water it needs from the seeds it eats. It also has special kidneys that produce very little waste water. This helps it survive in places where there is almost no water.

Every school needs to ensure the safety of its students. One of the most important ways to do this is through safety drills. These drills prepare students and teachers for emergency situations such as fires, earthquakes and other disasters.
Fire drills are the most common type of safety drill. When the fire alarm sounds, students must leave the building quickly and calmly. They should walk to the nearest exit and gather at a safe meeting place outside. Teachers check that every student is present.
Earthquake drills are also very important. In these drills, students learn to “drop, cover and hold on.” They get under their desks or tables and cover their heads to protect themselves from falling objects. They stay there until the shaking stops.
Some schools also practice lockdown drills. These drills prepare students for situations where there is a dangerous person inside or near the school. Students lock the doors, turn off the lights, stay quiet and hide in a safe corner of the classroom.
Safety drills may seem frightening, but they are very important. They help students know exactly what to do in a real emergency. Being prepared can save lives. Schools should continue to practice these drills regularly so that everyone stays safe.

Dear Lucy, How is everything going? I’d like to share with you my favourite film. My favourite film is “Zootopia”. It is an animated film about a rabbit named Judy who dreams of becoming a police officer. She faces many challenges but never gives up. What I like most about this film is the character Judy. She is brave, determined and always believes in herself. She teaches us that we can achieve our dreams if we work hard and never give up. The film is also very funny and has a wonderful message about kindness and understanding. I really admire Judy’s courage. She shows that being different is not a disadvantage — it can be a strength.
