A Report on Students’ Free Time
How do students in different countries spend their free time? A recent survey looked at students from four countries: China, Japan, the UK and Australia. The survey included about 5,800 students aged 12 to 15.
Who does the most homework?
Chinese students spend the most time on homework. About 52% of Chinese students spend more than two hours on homework every day. That is much more than students in Japan (9.5%), the UK (18.3%) and Australia (15.7%).
Who reads the most books?
Australian students read the most books in their free time. About 68% of them said they read for pleasure at least three times a week. In Japan, it’s 45%; in China, it’s 41%; and in the UK, it’s 53%.
Who does the most sports?
UK students are the most active in sports. About 72% of UK students do sports at least twice a week. Australian students follow closely at 70%. In China, the number is 58%, and in Japan, it’s 43%.
Who uses the most social media?
Japanese students spend the most time on social media. About 76% of them use social media for more than one hour a day. In Australia, it’s 68%; in China, it’s 62%; and in the UK, it’s 71%.
The survey shows that students in different countries have very different habits. However, one thing is the same — all students enjoy having fun with their friends after school!
