高考高频单词 DAY 10(记叙文阅读) 板块一:真题再现 (2021·全国一卷·高考真题) By day, Robert Titterton is a lawyer. In his spare time though he goes on stage beside pianist Maria Raspopova — not as a musician but as her page turner. "I'm not a trained musician, but I've learnt to read music so I can help Maria in her performance." Mr Titterton is chairman of the Omega Ensemble but has been the group's official page turner for the past four years. His job is to sit beside the pianist and turn the pages of the score so the musician doesn't have to break the flow of sound by doing it themselves. He said he became just as nervous as those playing instruments on stage. "A lot of skills are needed for the job. You have to make sure you don't turn two pages at once and make sure you find the repeats in the music when you have to go back to the right spot." Mr Titterton explained. Being a page turner requires plenty of practice. Some pieces of music can go for 40 minutes and require up to 50 page turns, including back turns for repeat passages. Silent onstage communication is key, and each pianist has their own style of "nodding" to indicate a page turn which they need to practise with their page turner. But like all performances, there are moments when things go wrong. "I was turning the page to get ready for the next page, but the draft wind from the turn caused the spare pages to fall off the stand," Mr Titterton said, "Luckily I was able to catch them and put them back." Most page turners are piano students or upandcoming concert pianists, although Ms Raspopova has once asked her husband to help her out on stage. "My husband is the worst page turner," she laughed. "He's interested in the music, feeling every note, and I have to say: 'Turn, turn!'" Robert is the best page turner I've had in my entire life." 24.What should Titterton be able to do to be a page turner? A. Read music. B. Play the piano. C. Sing songs. D. Fix the instruments. 25.Which of the following best describes Titterton's job on stage? A. Boring. B. Wellpaid. C. Demanding. D. Dangerous. 26.What does Titterton need to practise? A. Counting the pages. B. Recognizing the "nodding". C. Catching falling objects. D. Performing in his own style. 27.Why is Ms Raspopova's husband "the worst page turner"? A. He has very poor eyesight. B. He ignores the audience. C. He has no interest in music. D. He forgets to do his job. A genius is the person who repeats the most times! 表演chairman /ˈtʃeəmən/ n. 站 短语 make sure 确保 fall off 从……掉落 upandcoming 崭露头角的 be interested in 对……感兴趣 break the flow 打断流畅性 spare time 空闲时间 板块三:词形变换 1. piano /piˈænəʊ/ n. 钢琴 — pianist /ˈpɪənɪst/ n. 钢琴家 2. music /ˈmjuːzɪk/ n. 音乐 — musician /mjuːˈzɪʃn/ n. 音乐家 — musical /ˈmjuːzɪkl/ adj. 音乐的 3. perform /pəˈfɔːm/ v. 表演 — performance /pəˈfɔːməns/ n. 重复 — repetitive /rɪˈpetətɪv/ adj. 重复的 8. explain /ɪkˈspleɪn/ v. 解释 — explanation /ˌekspləˈneɪʃn/ n. 解释 — explanatory /ɪkˈsplænətəri/ adj. 解释的 9. require /rɪˈkwaɪə/ v. 要求 — requirement /rɪˈkwaɪəmənt/ n. 要求 — required /rɪˈkwaɪəd/ adj. 必需的 10. indicate /ˈɪndɪkeɪt/ v. 指示 — indication /ˌɪndɪˈkeɪʃn/ n. 迹象 — indicative /ɪnˈdɪkətɪv/ adj. 实际的 板块四:选词填空(共两组) Group A(备选词汇:spare, stage, pianist, musician, train, performance, chairman, ensemble, official, score) 用所给词的正确形式填空,每个词限用一次。 1. He is not a trained musician, but he can read music. His job is to sit beside the pianist and turn the pages of the score so that the musician does not break the flow of the music. This job requires many skills and makes him nervous. He has to make sure he turns the pages at the right time and does not miss the repeats. Passage B Being a page turner is a demanding job. A piece of music can last 40 minutes and require up to 50 page turns. The pianist indicates the page turn with a special style of nodding, which the page turner must recognize. One time, a draft wind caused the spare pages to fall off the stand, but Titterton managed to catch them. This experience shows that even a small role on stage requires concentration and skill. Passage C Ms Raspopova's husband is the worst page turner she has ever had. He gets so interested in the music, feeling every note, that he forgets to turn the pages. In contrast, Robert Titterton is the best. He has been the official page turner for the Omega Ensemble for four years. Many page turners are piano students or upandcoming pianists, but Titterton is a lawyer. His story proves that with enough practice, anyone can perform a demanding job well. I'm not a trained musician, but I've learnt to read music so I can help Maria in her performance. A lot of skills are needed for the job. Being a page turner requires plenty of practice. Silent onstage communication is key, and each pianist has their own style of "nodding" to indicate a page turn which they need to practise with their page turner. He's interested in the music, feeling every note, and I have to say: "Turn, turn!" 板块四答案 Group A spare stage pianist musician trained performance chairman ensemble official score Group B break flow nervous instrument skill repeat spot explained requires piece 板块五答案 A. 单句语法填空 pianist musician performance officially nervously repetition explanation requirements indication practice B. 首字母单词拼写 spare stage pianist musician trained performance chairman ensemble official score 板块六答案(参考译文) Passage A 罗伯特·蒂特顿白天是一名律师,但在空闲时间,他在舞台上担任翻谱员。 $
