Listening to music can help people with motion sickness(晕动症) feel better, according to a new research—but it depends on the type of song you play.Motion sickness is feeling dizzy or sick when you’re traveling by car, boat, plane,or train or during other movement.
About one in three people are very likely to get motion sickness, but almost everyone gets motion sickness if the movement is strong enough.Children between the ages of 2 and 12 are more likely to feel ill than adults, but no one knows why some people struggle with motion sickness and others don’t.
Scientists do know that people get motion sickness because their senses are sending different messages to their brains.A study by neuroscientists(scientists who study the brain) at the Henan Institute of Science and Technology in China involved 30 volunteers who were likely to get motion sickness. The volunteers used a driving simulator(模拟器) that made them feel as if they were in a moving car.Sensors were connected to their scalps(头皮) to record electrical activity in their brains.By tracking brain activity, the team could tell when volunteers were experiencing motion sickness or feeling better.
The volunteers were divided into six groups.Four groups used the simulator until they felt carsick, then stopped “driving” and listened to different kinds of music for 60 seconds. One group used the simulator until they felt sick and then, instead of listening to music, were asked to calm themselves for one minute. The final group was asked to tell researchers when they started to feel even slightly carsick and were taken off the simulator before it got worse.
The results showed that joyful tunes were the best style of music for reducing motion sickness symptoms.Soft music was a close second, followed by passionate music. However, sad music actually slowed recovery.Even people who listened to nothing felt better sooner than those who listened to sad music. The researchers think personalized music playlists could be useful in helping people beat motion sickness.
4.What can be inferred about motion sickness?
A.It has nothing to do with age.
B.It will disappear during driving.
C.It can be lightened by certain music.
D.It comes from single sense message.
5.What were the volunteers probably asked to do in the study?
A.Drive a sports car personally.
B.Listen to music continuously.
C.Create a simulator independently.
D.Respond to the researchers timely.
6.Which type of music helps motion sickness best?
A.Sad music. B.Joyful music.
C.Soft music. D.Passionate music.
7.What’s the author’s purpose of writing the text?
A.To tell music’s effect on motion sickness.
B.To recommend some good music to teens.
C.To stress the benefits of listening to music.
D.To explain the reasons for motion sickness.

Ⅵ.七选五
(2026湖南岳阳高二期末)
As a radio presenter,I noticed that individuals often prefer music from their teens or early twenties. 1
Firstly,we tend to have a particularly good memory between the ages of about ten and thirty. 2 The second reason is that music is a powerful trigger for our emotions, which in turn sparks our memories. The music in our teenage years is likely to have lots of emotions to understand,so even a very small part of a particular song can bring powerful feelings and memories flooding back.
3 It can have a calming effect, putting you in a relaxed mood, ready to remember.Rhythms and rhymes are great memory aids. And when we love a song,we tend to repeat it over and over again.Singing or playing something can even activate “muscle memory”,and there are many cases of people with severe memory loss still being able to perform music they learned decades ago.
So the next time you hear a familiar song, put it to good use to explore and exercise your memory.Think about the places and people it reminds you of and the emotions it brings. 4 Remember a particular time in your life;think about the music you listened to then and let it take you back as you piece together the past through those connections.
You can also use music when you’re learning. 5 If you’re dealing with several topics, play different styles of music while learning different things.
Experiment to see what works for you.Songs can have a powerful impact on memory, and that should be music to everyone’s ears!
A.There are two very good reasons for that.
B.The following practical suggestions are just for you.
C.There are further ways in which music boosts recall.
D.Find recordings that energize your thinking in your study.
E.Some people use music to make themselves fall asleep faster.
F.You may feel as if you rediscover the richest details of your past.
G.Most of us have more novel and exciting memorable experiences then.
