后文“I saw the pain and joy on his face”说明作者亲眼目睹了父亲参赛的状态,“watch sb. do sth.”
turn down“拒绝”,slow down“减速”,stand up“站起来”,无法匹配父亲安慰鼓励的语义。
此处与后文“That is when you must keep going”形成语义对比,说明此处表达想要停下脚步,stop“停下”契合句意。
“wait for sb.”
A
Nora: Jack, how did you get to school when you were in primary school?
Jack: I lived close to my school, so I walked every day. Why?
Nora: Well, I remember that when we were kids, we often walked, rode a bike or caught the bus to school. Few of us were dropped off at the school gate by our parents.
Jack: I see what you mean. These days there is lots of traffic around schools at pick-up times. Parents have good reasons for driving their kids to school, mostly to do with safety and convenience.
Nora: You have a point there, but it could also mean children are missing out on much needed exercise and other life skills. Some parents are just protecting their children too much. Their children learn nothing, but live in fear of everything. Studies have found that children who spend more time outside tend to be healthier and better at dealing with stress.
31.How did Jack go to school when he was a child?
A.By bike. B.By car. C.By bus. D.On foot.
32.What does Jack think of parents’ driving their kids to school?
A.It’s good enough. B.More people should do it.
C.He can understand it. D.He thinks it’s unnecessary.
33.What may Nora agree with?
A.Parents should leave their children more time.
B.Parents shouldn’t push their children too hard.
C.Parents should have more time for their children.
D.Parents shouldn’t give their children much money.
【答案】31.D 32.C 33.A
根据Jack的回答“I lived close to my school, so I walked every day.”Jack小时候住得离学校近,每天步行上学。
32.根据Jack说的“Parents have good reasons for driving their kids to school, mostly to do with safety and convenience.”Jack认为父母开车送孩子上学有充分的理由(安全和便利),说明他能理解这种做法。
33.Nora认为父母过度保护孩子会导致孩子“missing out on much needed exercise and other life skills”,并指出“children who spend more time outside tend to be healthier”。

Last month, I had a fight with my best friend, Zhang Tao. It started during an important English group project.
Our teacher asked us to make a presentation (演讲) about technology and life. I wanted to make a PPT and put some data (数据) and facts in it. However, Zhang Tao wanted to make a colourful poster with drawings and sayings. We tried to discuss our ideas calmly, but soon we argued. “No one will remember a boring PPT!” Zhang Tao said. I fired back, “Only little kids will like your poster!” For three days, we didn’t speak at all.
The turning point came when our teacher, Ms. Chen, noticed it. She called us aside and said, “A great project fuses our special talents, like a team. Why not use both?” That evening, I sent Zhang Tao a message and said sorry. To my surprise, he quickly said sorry too.
We met at the library the next day. I added his colourful drawings to the PPT, and he made a poster of my research points. During our presentation, I talked about the facts. Then Zhang Tao made everyone join in with questions. When people clapped, we knew that Ms. Chen was correct. We made it!
Looking back, I learned that true friendship means valuing each other’s opinions. Zhang Tao’s creativity and my way of thinking make us a better team.

A.interesting and successful B.traditional and awful
C.boring but clear D.short but meaningless
37.What is the best title for the passage?
A.How to Make New Friends B.How to Show Data in a PPT
C.Personal Ideas Should be Fully Valued D.Respect and Teamwork Build True Friendship
【答案】34.D 35.B 36.A 37.D
根据第二段内容“I wanted to make a PPT and put some data and facts in it. However, Zhang Tao wanted to make a colourful poster with drawings and sayings....soon we argued.”
35.根据第三段老师所说的话“Why not use both?”
36.根据第四段描述“I talked about the facts. Then Zhang Tao made everyone join in with questions. When people clapped, we knew that Ms. Chen was correct. We made it!”
37.文章最后一段总结道“true friendship means valuing each other’s opinions...make us a better team”,表明作者通过这次经历学到了真正的友谊意味着重视彼此的意见,团队合作能让人变得更好。
C
The Strait of Hormuz (霍尔木兹海峡) is a narrow (窄的) and important sea channel (航道) in West Asia. It lies between Iran (伊朗) and Oman (阿曼) . The narrowest part of the strait is only about 33 kilometers wide. It connects the Persian Gulf (波斯湾) and the Indian Ocean. There is no other direct sea road linking these two waters, so this strait is the only ocean way out of the Persian Gulf.
Lots of oil and natural gas are stored under the sea floor of the Persian Gulf. Every day, thousands of large ships carry these energy supplies across the strait to different countries all over the world. Over 20 percent of the world’s oil carried by ships and lots of natural gas travel through this waterway. Most of them go to Asia and Europe to help people’s daily life and factory work.
People often call it the world’s “energy throat”. The word “throat” means a narrow path (小路) that everything must pass through. Along the two sides of the strait, we can see rocky coasts and low mountains. The seawater here stays warm all year round. Many kinds of sea fish live in these waters, and local people nearby make a living by fishing and small sea trade.
Without this strait, it would be hard to send the gulf’s oil and gas to other parts of the world. It plays an important role in moving energy around the whole world.

A.Between China and Japan. B.Between Iran and Oman.
C.Between India and Pakistan. D.Between Europe and Africa.
39.The word “them” in Paragraph 2 refers to _________.

C.different countries D.oil and natural gas
40.What does “energy throat” mean in the passage?

Why do we need role models? A role model is someone who sets a good example for others. They can be famous scientists, brave athletes, or even our parents.
Research shows that having a role model can greatly influence our behavior. First, role models give us a clear direction. When we see someone we admire achieve great things, we are more likely to set similar goals for ourselves. For example, seeing Tu Youyou win the Nobel Prize may encourage a student to study medicine.
Second, role models help us overcome difficulties. Life is full of challenges. When we face failures, thinking about how our role models never gave up can give us the strength to try again.
However, it is important to choose role models wisely. We should look for people who have good qualities, such as honesty, hard work, and kindness, rather than just fame or wealth. Truly inspiring people are those who make the world a better place through their actions.

The leader replied to him in just two hours, saying that she thought the idea was great and she would offer help if needed.
But “Mobook” project is a little different from that in London. It has its own online system. People who want to donate (捐赠) books must give their information online. QR code stickers (二维码标签) are then sent to their addresses. The book owners should stick them on the books before donating books.

Nora: Well, I remember that when we were kids, we often walked, rode a bike or caught the bus to school. Few of us were dropped off at the school gate by our parents.

We made it!

42.What is the main idea of the passage?
A.How to become a famous scientist.
B.The importance of choosing good role models.
C.The life story of Tu Youyou.
D.Why teenagers need to study medicine.
43.According to the passage, how do role models give us direction?
A.By giving us money to achieve our goals.
B.By encouraging us to set similar goals.
C.By telling us what to do every day.
D.By doing our homework for us.
44.What should we value most when choosing a role model?
