高考高频单词 DAY 9说明文阅读) 板块一:真题再现 [(2024·全国一卷·高考真题)] In the race to document the species on Earth before they go extinct, researchers and citizen scientists have collected billions of records. Today, most records of biodiversity are often in the form of photos, videos, and other digital records. Though they are useful for detecting shifts in the number and variety of species in an area, a new Stanford study has found that this type of record is not perfect. "With the rise of technology it is easy for people to make observations of different species with the aid of a mobile application, " said Barnabas Daru, who is lead author of the study and assistant professor of biology in the Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. "These observations now outnumber the primary data that comes from physical specimens, and since we are increasingly using observational data to investigate how species are responding to global change, I wanted to know: Are they usable?" Using a global dataset of 1.9 billion records of plants, insects, birds, and animals, Daru and his team tested how well these data represent actual global biodiversity patterns. "We were particularly interested in exploring the aspects of sampling that tend to bias data, like the greater likelihood of a citizen scientist to take a picture of a flowering plant instead of the grass right next to it, " said Daru. Their study revealed that the large number of observation-only records did not lead to better global coverage. Moreover, these data are biased and favor certain regions, time periods, and species. This makes sense because the people who get observational biodiversity data on mobile devices are often citizen scientists recording their encounters with species in areas nearby. These data are also biased toward certain species with attractive or eye-catching features. What can we do with the imperfect datasets of biodiversity? "Quite a lot, " Daru explained. "Biodiversity apps can use our study results to inform users of oversampled areas and lead them to places—and even species—that are not well-sampled. To improve the quality of observational data, biodiversity apps can also encourage users to have an expert confirm the identification of their uploaded image." 32. What do we know about the records of species collected now? A. They are becoming outdated. B. They are mostly in electronic form. C. They are limited in number. D. They are used for public exhibition. 33. What does Daru's study focus on? A. Threatened species. B. Physical specimens. C. Observational data. D. Mobile applications. 34. What has led to the biases according to the study? A. Mistakes in data analysis. B. Poor quality of uploaded pictures. C. Improper way of sampling. D. Unreliable data collection devices. 35. What is Daru's suggestion for biodiversity apps? A. Review data from certain areas. B. Hire experts to check the records. C. Confirm the identity of the users. D. Give guidance to citizen scientists. A genius is the person who repeats the most times! 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 document /ˈdɒkjʊment/ 记录;记载 species /ˈspiːʃiːz/ 物种;种类 extinct /ɪkˈstɪŋkt/ 灭绝的 citizen scientist 公民科学家 record /ˈrekɔːd/ 记录;记载 biodiversity /ˌbaɪəʊdaɪˈvɜːsəti/ 生物多样性 digital /ˈdɪdʒɪtəl/ 数字的 shift /ʃɪft/ 转变;变化 variety /vəˈraɪəti/ 多样性;种类 perfect /ˈpɜːfɪkt/ 完美的 observation /ˌɒbzəˈveɪʃən/ 观察;观测 aid /eɪd/ 帮助;辅助 application /ˌæplɪˈkeɪʃən/ 应用程序 assistant /əˈsɪstənt/ 助理的;辅助的 outnumber /ˌaʊtˈnʌmbə/ 数量上超过 primary /ˈpraɪməri/ 主要的;原始的 physical /ˈfɪzɪkəl/ 物质的;物理的 specimen /ˈspesɪmən/ 标本 observational /ˌɒbzəˈveɪʃənəl/ 观察的 investigate /ɪnˈvestɪɡeɪt/ 调查;研究 respond /rɪˈspɒnd/ 回应;反应 global /ˈɡləʊbəl/ 全球的 dataset /ˈdeɪtəset/ 数据集 represent /ˌreprɪˈzent/ 代表;体现 pattern /ˈpætən/ 模式;规律 sample /ˈsɑːmpəl/ 采样;取样 bias /ˈbaɪəs/ 使有偏差;偏见 likelihood /ˈlaɪklihʊd/ 可能性 coverage /ˈkʌvərɪdʒ/ 覆盖范围 identify /aɪˈdentɪfaɪ/ 识别;确认 板块三:词形变换(供背诵) 1. document /ˈdɒkjʊment/ 记录 — documentation /ˌdɒkjʊmenˈteɪʃən/ 文件;记录 — documentary /ˌdɒkjʊˈmentəri/ 纪录的;纪录片 — documented /ˈdɒkjʊmentɪd/ 已记录的 — undocumented /ʌnˈdɒkjʊmentɪd/ 未记录的 2. extinct /ɪkˈstɪŋkt/ 灭绝的 — extinction /ɪkˈstɪŋkʃən/ 灭绝 — extinguish /ɪkˈstɪŋɡwɪʃ/ 熄灭;消灭 — extinguishable /ɪkˈstɪŋɡwɪʃəbəl/ 可消灭的 — inextinguishable /ˌɪnɪkˈstɪŋɡwɪʃəbəl/ 不可消灭的 3. observe /əbˈzɜːv/ 观察 — observation /ˌɒbzəˈveɪʃən/ 观察 — observational /ˌɒbzəˈveɪʃənəl/ 观察的 — observer /əbˈzɜːvə/ 观察者 — observable /əbˈzɜːvəbəl/ 可观察到的 4. apply /əˈplaɪ/ 应用;申请 — application /ˌæplɪˈkeɪʃən/ 应用;申请 — applicant /ˈæplɪkənt/ 申请人 — applied /əˈplaɪd/ 应用的 — applicable /əˈplɪkəbəl/ 适用的 5. assist /əˈsɪst/ 帮助 — assistant /əˈsɪstənt/ 助理的;助理 — assistance /əˈsɪstəns/ 帮助 — assisted /əˈsɪstɪd/ 被帮助的 — unassisted /ˌʌnəˈsɪstɪd/ 无帮助的 6. number /ˈnʌmbə/ 数量 — outnumber /ˌaʊtˈnʌmbə/ 超过 — numerous /ˈnjuːmərəs/ 众多的 — numerical /njuːˈmerɪkəl/ 数字的 — numerable /ˈnjuːmərəbəl/ 可数的 7. primary /ˈpraɪməri/ 主要的 — primarily /ˈpraɪmərəli/ 主要地 — primitive /ˈprɪmətɪv/ 原始的 — primate /ˈpraɪmeɪt/ 灵长类 — prime /praɪm/ 首要的 8. physical /ˈfɪzɪkəl/ 物质的 — physically /ˈfɪzɪkəli/ 物质上地 — physician /fɪˈzɪʃən/ 内科医生 — physicist /ˈfɪzɪsɪst/ 物理学家 — physics /ˈfɪzɪks/ 物理学 9. investigate /ɪnˈvestɪɡeɪt/ 调查 — investigation /ɪnˌvestɪˈɡeɪʃən/ 调查 — investigator /ɪnˈvestɪɡeɪtə/ 调查者 — investigative /ɪnˈvestɪɡətɪv/ 调查性的 — reinvestigate /ˌriːɪnˈvestɪɡeɪt/ 重新调查 10. respond /rɪˈspɒnd/ 回应 — response /rɪˈspɒns/ 回应 — responsive /rɪˈspɒnsɪv/ 回应性的 — responsibility /rɪˌspɒnsəˈbɪləti/ 责任 — irresponsible /ˌɪrɪˈspɒnsəbəl/ 不负责任的 11. represent /ˌreprɪˈzent/ 代表 — representation /ˌreprɪzenˈteɪʃən/ 代表 — representative /ˌreprɪˈzentətɪv/ 代表的;代表 — misrepresent /ˌmɪsreprɪˈzent/ 歪曲 — unrepresentative /ˌʌnreprɪˈzentətɪv/ 不具代表性的 12. identify /aɪˈdentɪfaɪ/ 识别 — identification /aɪˌdentɪfɪˈkeɪʃən/ 识别 — identity /aɪˈdentəti/ 身份 — identical /aɪˈdentɪkəl/ 完全相同的 — identifiably /aɪˌdentɪˈfaɪəbli/ 可识别地 板块四:选词填空 Group A(从以下词汇中选择填空:document, species, extinct, citizen scientist, record, biodiversity, digital, shift, variety, perfect, identification) 1. Scientists around the world are working to document and protect this biodiversity before many species become extinct. However, the task is enormous. There are estimated to be nearly 9 million species on Earth, and many have not yet been discovered or classified. To speed up the process, researchers are increasingly relying on citizen scientists to help collect observational data. While this data is valuable, it is not without limitations. The study by Daru and his team revealed that observational data can be biased and may not represent true biodiversity patterns accurately. Passage B Citizen scientists play an increasingly important role in biodiversity research. Using mobile applications, they can easily record their observations of plants and animals in their local areas. These observations often outnumber data collected by professional scientists. However, the quality of this data can vary significantly. Citizen scientists tend to photograph attractive or eye-catching species, such as flowering plants, while ignoring more common or less visually appealing ones. This creates a bias in the data. Additionally, observations are often concentrated in areas that are easily accessible, such as near cities and roads, leading to poor coverage of remote regions. Passage C What can we do to improve the quality of biodiversity data? Daru and his team have some suggestions. First, biodiversity apps can inform users about areas that have been oversampled and encourage them to explore under-sampled regions. Second, apps can encourage users to confirm the identification of their uploaded images by consulting experts. This would help reduce errors and increase the reliability of the data. Finally, researchers need to be aware of the limitations of observational data and combine it with physical specimen data whenever possible. By working together, scientists and citizen scientists can build a more complete and accurate picture of the world's biodiversity. 板块八:单词默写(汉译英) 记录;记载 __________ 物种;种类 __________ 灭绝的 __________ 公民科学家 __________ 记录;记载 __________ 生物多样性 __________ 数字的 __________ 转变;变化 __________ 多样性;种类 __________ 完美的 __________ 观察;观测 __________ 帮助;辅助 __________ 应用程序 __________ 助理的;辅助的 __________ 数量上超过 __________ 主要的;原始的 __________ 物质的;物理的 __________ 标本 __________ 观察的 __________ 调查;研究 __________ 回应;反应 __________ 全球的 __________ 数据集 __________ 代表;体现 __________ 模式;规律 __________ 采样;取样 __________ 使有偏差;偏见 __________ 可能性 __________ 覆盖范围 __________ 识别;确认 __________ 【参考答案】 板块一 真题再现答案 32.B 33.C 34.C 35. Today, most records of biodiversity are often in the form of photos, videos, and other digital records. 33.C 推理判断题 根据第二段第二句 "These observations now outnumber ... Are they usable?" 34.C 推理判断题 根据第四段中的 ... like the greater likelihood of a citizen scientist to take a picture of a flowering plant instead of the grass right next to it 和第五段可知,收集生物采样数据的人,对于采样区域、采样时段以及采样物种的选择有一定的主观性,这些不当的采样方式会导致收集到的数据产生偏差。 板块四 选词填空答案 Group A species, extinct biodiversity digital, document Citizen scientists shift records perfect variety identification Group B primary Physical specimen investigate aid global investigation outnumber application respond 板块五 单词填空答案 A. 单句语法填空 documentation extinction observation application assistant number primary physical investigation response B. 首字母单词拼写 response Samples digital results improve pattern coverage likelihood biased confirm 板块六 语篇翻译参考译文 Passage A 生物多样性是地球上生命的多样性,包括所有植物、动物和微生物的物种。 板块八 汉译英答案 document species extinct citizen scientist record biodiversity digital shift variety perfect observation aid application assistant outnumber primary physical specimen observational investigate respond global dataset represent pattern sample bias likelihood coverage identify $
