二、阅读理解(全新 Workbook 访谈拓展文本,无重复旧素材)
When Nora asks classmates about their role models, three stories move me a lot. Edison spent thousands of experiments before he invented the practical light bulb. He failed again and again, but he never lost his courage. The great writer lived with terrible body pain for years. Yet he finished lots of famous novels until his old age. Beethoven’s hearing was gone, but he still wrote many amazing musical works. Their common spirit tells us: as long as we have a strong will, no difficulty can stand in our way. Whatever hard tasks we meet, we should keep going and never give up.
( )1. What did Edison invent after many tests?
A. Light bulb. B. Piano. C. Novels. D. Sports equipment
( )2. What trouble did the writer have?
A. Lost hearing. B. Serious illness / pain.
C. No money. D. Bad training injury.
( )3. Why is Beethoven an inspiring role model?
A. He invented machines.
B. He wrote music without hearing.
C. He won Olympic games.
D. He wrote lots of science books.
( )4. What is the shared spirit of the three people?
A. Give up easily. B. Never give up with strong will.
C. Only care about prizes. D. Avoid all hard work.

三、范文
Edison is one of the most creative inventors and Beethoven is one of the bravest musicians in our workbook interview. Edison’s invention journey is harder than most people’s creative roads. When he was young, he failed thousands of times while doing experiments. After each failure, he didn’t stop testing new ideas until he invented the useful light bulb. Since Beethoven lost his hearing, he still kept composing music every day. Whenever I feel tired of my own goals, I will think of them. Whatever difficulties I meet, I will hold a stronger will than before and never let troubles stand in my creative way. Their stories are the most valuable lesson for every teenager.
