Qing ming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, is a traditional festival where Chinese pay respects to their ancestors and the dead. People in different regions of the country consume different foods on the day according to local customs. From green rice balls and omelets (煎蛋饼) to fried dough twists and pancakes, here are some traditional foods people eat on the special day.
Qingtuan, or green rice balls, are widely consumed in China’s Jiangnan area — the region south of the Yangtze River — around Qingming Festival. The seasonal delicious food is usually made from glutinous rice (糯米) mixed with pounded mugwort — an eatable wild herb thought to prevent toxic insect bites.
In both northern and southern China, it is an age-old tradition to eat sanzi, or fried dough twists, on Tomb-Sweeping Day. However, the sanzi in North and South China are different from each other in terms of size and material. Northern people prefer larger ones made from wheat, while people in the South enjoy smaller ones made from rice.
Thin pancakes are a popular food for people in Xiamen in Southeast China’s Fujian province on Tomb-Sweeping Day. To make it tastier, they usually add dried seaweed, omelet, vegetables and chili sauce to the pancakes.
In Qingdao in East China’s Shandong province, people eat spring onion and omelet on the day. They believe the special combination makes eyes brighter. In ancient times, pupils often sent eggs to their teachers to show respect on the day.
In many places in Southeast China’s Fujian province, people thought eating steamed rice with leaf mustard (芥菜) on Tomb-Sweeping Day could help prevent scabies and other skin diseases for the whole year.
The steamed bun is named after Jie Zitui, a famous hermit of the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476BC). People in Shanxi province have a tradition of eating the bun on Tomb-Sweeping Day. Colorful dough animals and flowers are frequent decorations, while eggs and jujubes (红枣) are added inside to increase sweetness.
24.What’s special about sanzi?
A.People in South China prefer sanzi made from wheat.
B.People in North China prefer smaller size of sanzi
C.It is only accessible on Tomb-Sweeping Day.
D.The sanzi varies in different places.
25.Why do people in Qingdao eat spring onion and omelet on Tomb-Sweeping Day?
A.To help improve eyesight B.To show respect to ancestors
C.To exchange eggs with teachers D.To make the omelet tastier
26.What is added to the steamed bun to make it look better?
A.Colorful flowers B.Dough animals
C.Dough eggs D.Jujubes
27.What do Qingtuan and steamed rice with leaf mustard have in common?
A.They are both made from glutinous rice.
B.They are believed to be beneficial to health.
C.They are both popular around China.
D.They have the same eatable herbs in them.

Electrolyte (电解质) drinks have become increasingly popular on gym floors and running routes, widely promoted as essential for boosting athletic performance and speeding up post-exercise recovery. Once used only by top athletes to cope with intense training in hot conditions, they now attract casual gym-goers and office workers as a simple daily way to stay hydrated (水分充足). These products, ranging from ready-to-drink sports drinks to powders that mix with water, can cost a few pounds per day, adding up to a considerable sum over time.
Electrolytes are essential minerals that play a key role in regulating nerves, supporting muscle function and maintaining fluid balance in the human body. Professor Graeme Close, a leading sports nutrition researcher at Liverpool John Moores University, points out that most people are wasting money on electrolyte drinks unnecessarily. A regular, well-designed diet can easily supply enough electrolytes for the average person’s daily needs.
However, during long and intense exercise where people sweat heavily, their electrolyte levels may drop significantly. “If you exercise for a long period of time, especially if you are a salty sweater, adding electrolytes in the form of sodium (钠) is a good choice,” Close says. Besides, electrolyte drinks can increase thirst, which helps people drink more water — something particularly necessary during extended workouts.
For moderate exercise such as a short trip to the gym, electrolytes are not necessary at all. “Just sip water regularly. That’s more than good enough, so keep your hard-earned money for other things,” Close advises. Of course, if you just enjoy the taste and it encourages you to drink more during exercise, it is not a bad thing. Instead of buying expensive commercial powders, he suggests a simple homemade mix: two-thirds water, one-third fruit juice (like pineapple juice) and a tiny pinch of salt. He also notes there’s little scientific evidence that taking electrolytes first thing in the morning brings any real benefit.
28.Which best describes the current market for electrolyte drinks?
A.Primarily used for top athletes in extreme training.
B.Chiefly sold as sports drinks to professionals.
C.Mainly sold as costly nerve disease treatments.
D.Shifted from professional to the general market.
29.Why does Professor Close think people waste money on electrolyte drinks?
A.Such drinks are mostly just plain water.
B.People mix electrolyte powders poorly.
C.A normal balanced diet offers enough electrolytes.
D.The body maintains fluid balance by itself.
30.What can be inferred about the recommended homemade mix?
A.It works best when taken in the morning.
B.It only works with special pineapple juice.
C.It is worse for the body than commercial products.
D.It is a cheap alternative to expensive drinks.
31.What is Professor Close’s attitude towards electrolyte drinks?
A.Supportive. B.Objective. C.Disapproving. D.Unconcerned.

McDonald's food holds plenty of secrets, and Chicken McNuggets(麦乐鸡块) are no exception. The boxed, bite-size pieces of chicken are one of the fast food producer's most popular menu items. But there's something even the most devoted chicken nugget(鸡块) consumers may not know: every nugget that comes out of McDonald's is guaranteed to be one of four different shapes.
Don't worry though; it's not some strange chicken plot. It's the result of a carefully planned process that occurs in McDonald's factories. A Business Insider video, using continuous shooting mode from a McDonald's factory in Canada, offers an inside look into chicken nugget production. Before it goes to the fryer, the ground chicken breast meat that will become Chicken McNuggets goes through a “rolling cookie cutter” machine. The cutter ensures that the nuggets-to-be are all in the same width and one of four shapes. The shapes are the “boot,” the “bell,” the “ball,” and the “bone” (or “bow tie”).
But just how different are the four shapes? How do you tell your boots from your bow ties? Well, the ball is round, as you might expect. The bone/bow tie looks less like either of those things than like a somewhat bent rectangle(矩形). The bell is diamond-shaped, and the boot really does look somewhat like a wide boot with a thin toe.(Or like a hook, if you turn it over.) Though the shapes are somewhat less different after the batter(面糊) is added, see if you can still identify them the next time you get your Chicken McNuggets.
But why they have special shapes? A curious consumer posed the question. A company representative replied that the shapes and their similar sizes ensure that they all take the same time to cook, which is necessary to ensure food safety. Plus, the shapes are fun for kids, and easy to dip for everyone!
And why is four the lucky number? Well, the Q&A page claims that “Three would've been too few. Five would've been, like, silly or unreasonable.” Honestly, though, we doubt whether McDonald's consumers would have really cared either way.
32.How are Chicken McNuggets' shapes formed?
A.They are processed by a cutting machine.
B.The four shapes are made by the machine freely.
C.Some batter is added to the chicken breast meat.
D.They are the natural forms of the chicken breast meat.
33.What do we know about the shapes of McDonald's Chicken McNuggets?
A.The ball and the bell are of the same size.
B.The bone shape is most attractive to small kids.
C.The regular shapes make processing easier and safer.
D.The different shapes can arouse people's imagination.
34.What is the author's attitude to the number four of McDonald's Chicken McNuggets?
A.Positive. B.Disapproving. C.Doubtful. D.Unconcerned.
35.What is the text mainly about?
A.The history of McDonald's Chicken McNuggets.
B.A warning against eating McDonald's Chicken McNuggets.
C.The introduction of McDonald's Chicken McNuggets' four shapes.
D.An explanation of the processing of McDonald's Chicken McNuggets.

A new study published in Neurology suggests that what you eat can directly impact the health of your brain as you age. The study tracked over 1,600 adults who closely followed the MIND diet for about 12 years and found a clear link between diet and brain shrinkage (萎缩). 36
The MIND diet is a mix of two healthy eating plans: the Mediterranean diet and the DASH diet. 37 The key is to choose foods packed with nutrients that support brain function. These include green leafy vegetables, berries, nuts, beans, and fish. At the same time, the diet recommends limiting foods that are less healthy, such as red meat, fried foods, and ultra-processed snacks.
Starting a healthy diet doesn’t require a complete and sudden change to your eating habits. You can simply change your usual dessert for a bowl of mixed berries, or replace ground beef with ground chicken. 38 When done regularly, they can add up over time and contribute to better brain health.
While eating fresh, organic foods might be ideal, it can sometimes be expensive. 39 One simple and effective strategy is to visit the frozen food section of your local grocery store. Frozen fruits and vegetables are just as nutritious as fresh ones. They are often more affordable and available year-round.
40 You can buy them in bulk (大量) without worrying about them going bad quickly. This not only saves money but also reduces food waste, making it a smart choice for both your health and your wallet. So, by making mindful choices at the grocery store, you can nourish your brain without breaking the bank.
A.These small changes can make a difference.
B.However, a brain-healthy diet doesn’t need to cost much.
C.It focuses on foods that are particularly good for the brain.
D.These mental benefits are why the MIND diet is so popular.
E.Another benefit of frozen foods is that they help reduce waste.
F.The study also found that exercise beats diet in preventing memory loss.
G.This diet makes brains 2.5 years younger on scans than those following it least.

67.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When I was young, I always enjoyed cooking. Every night I would sit in the kitchen and watch my mother make dinner. I had a toy set of pots and pans, and would copy her actions at the table—pretending to pour in ingredients and mix them excitedly just as she did. On Sundays, my grandmother would make us a huge family dinner. A dish cooked from a charred chicken with flavored sauce enjoyed great popularity with us. Watching her in the kitchen was like watching an artist at work. She never needed a cookbook, and never had to follow a recipe. Everything was second nature. I couldn't wait to learn to cook myself.
So it was no surprise that as an adult I decided to be a chef. I had worked in a number of kitchens over the years, but when I got the chance to be the head chef at a new restaurant, I could not have been more excited.
On the first night the restaurant opened, I proudly put my apron on and prepared for success. Soon, orders came in, and at the kitchen were staff running in every direction. There were many waiters coming in and out, and cooks walking between stations(岗位). It was very exciting, but a bit stressful. There was so much to do and a lot of pressure to do it perfectly. It seemed that the crowd was not slowing down.
I was hurrying to gather ingredients from the shelves and fill the orders when there was a scream from the other side of the kitchen. Looking over, I saw one of the other cooks holding her hand in pain. She had burnt her fingers on a pan. I ran over to help, and as I placed her hand under cold water, a puff of smoke started to rise out of the oven.
“Oh, no!” I screamed. I reached the oven just in time to open the door and see the charred remains of a roast. Placing my hand on my head, I thought the night couldn't get much worse. One of the waiters came into the kitchen, looking very worried. Wiping the sweat off his forehead, he said anxiously, “The guests are asking for the roast.”
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
I stared at the charred roast, anxious to find a solution.
Just then, one of the guests asked to speak to the chef.

根据第一段中“Once used only by top athletes to cope with intense training in hot conditions, they now attract casual gym-goers and office workers as a simple daily way to stay hydrated (水分充足).”
根据第二段Close教授所言“A regular, well-designed diet can easily supply enough electrolytes for the average person’s daily needs”可知,正常均衡饮食已能提供足够的电解质,因此购买电解质饮料是浪费金钱。A项“这类饮料主要是白开水”、B项“人们冲泡电解质粉的方式不当”、D项“身体自行维持体液平衡”均不准确。故选C。
30.推理判断题。根据末段Close教授建议“Instead of buying expensive commercial powders, he suggests a simple homemade mix”可知,自制混合饮料是昂贵商业产品的廉价替代品。A项“早晨服用效果最佳”与原文“little scientific evidence”矛盾;B项“只能用特殊菠萝汁”过于绝对;C项“对身体不如商业产品好”文中未比较优劣。故选D。
31.推理判断题。根据第三段中Close所说的话“If you exercise for a long period of time, especially if you are a salty sweater, adding electrolytes in the form of sodium (钠) is a good choice ”和最后一段中Close所说的话“Just sip water regularly. That’s more than good enough, so keep your hard-earned money for other things ”可知,Close教授一方面指出普通人无需饮用,另一方面也肯定了其在长时间高强度运动中的作用,并给出了自制配方。这体现了其客观、全面的态度。A项“支持的”、C项“不赞成的”均过于片面;D项“不关心的”与教授提出专业建议的行为不符。由此可知,故选B项。

【答案】32.A 33.C 34.D 35.C
【导语】语篇解读:本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了麦乐鸡块的四种不同的形状。
32.细节理解题。由第二段中的“the ground chicken breast meat that will become Chicken McNuggets goes through a ‘rolling cookie cutter' machine”可知,麦乐鸡块的形状是由切割机加工而成的。故选A。

根据句意及文章最后一句中的“the most costly nuts in the world”提示可知,设空处需填入形容词的最高级修饰名词nuts,表示“最贵的”,expensive的最高级为the most expensive,句中已有the,故填most expensive。
59.考查介词。分析句子结构可知,设空处缺少介词,短语to do with sth表示“与……有关”,符合句意。故填with。
60.考查非谓语动词。本句中It为形式主语,真正的主语为设空处的不定式。故填to bear。
61.考查宾语从句连接词。分析句子结构及句意可知,设空处缺少连接词引导宾语从句,在从句中不作成分,但表示“是否”,因而可以用whether或if 引导。故填whether或if。
故填which或that。
64.考查冠词。本句中的country指代前文中出现过的China。因而需用定冠词the修饰。故填the。

【答案】One possible version:
I stared at the charred roast, anxious to find a solution. Suddenly, its smell dragged me back to a family dinner, when my grandmother cooked a delicious dish from a charred chicken. Letting out an excited scream, I cooked like an artist just in the way she did. I mixed vinegar with sugar to make a kind of sauce and then poured it onto the roast. Finally, the waiter served a flavored roast to the guests. “What if the guests don't like the dish?” I thought to myself.
Just then, one of the guests asked to speak to the chef. Never before in my life had I sunk into such a nervous situation. I followed the waiter, my heart in my mouth. To my surprise, the guest stood up and held my hands. “Thanks for bringing the taste of the hometown back to me,” she said in excitement. Beyond my expectations, the first night as the head chef turned out to be a great success. With a brand-new outlook, I returned to the kitchen and continued to brighten people's lives with delicious food.
