How do we know about things that happened 3,000 years ago when there were no videos or photos? You may find answers from the oracle bone script (甲骨文). It is the oldest kind of Chinese writing. The characters on the oracle bones can tell us what life was like in the past. Although some characters are similar to those we use today, it’s still difficult to understand.
Right now, in Anyang, Henan, a group of scientists are using AI to study this kind of old writing in a better way. Li Bang, 33, is an AI scientist at Anyang Normal University. He and his team are building a special “library” on the Internet. They put pictures and books about oracle bones into this “library”. They write programs (程序) to help AI learn to look at the shapes of characters and find information about them in the “library”.
We usually find broken oracle bone pieces. To study them, we need to put them together first. There are about 160,000 pieces in the world but we only put together 7,000 sets. But AI makes this problem easier. It can quickly find matching pieces with the help of the “library”. When scientists want to study an oracle bone character, they show it to the computer. AI can find similar characters and books about it in a few seconds. In the past, this took people a few hours or even a few days.
“AI is a great helper for people who study oracle bones, but it can’t take our place,” Li said. AI remembers things very well, but it isn’t good at thinking. So far, it can help us look for information about the characters, but it can hardly tell us the meaning of them.
21. Which of the following is TRUE about oracle bone script?
A. It is a new kind of Chinese writing.
B. Its characters are all different from modern Chinese characters.
C. It can tell us about life 3,000 years ago.
D. It is easy for people to understand now.
22. What do Li Bang and his team use programs to help AI do?
A. Take photos of oracle bones.
B. Learn the shapes of oracle bone characters and find related information.
C. Write books about oracle bones.
D. Put broken oracle bone pieces together by hand.
23. How long did it take people to find similar oracle bone characters in the past?
A. A few seconds. B. A few minutes.
C. A few hours or even days. D. A few weeks.
24. What does Li Bang think of AI in studying oracle bones?
A. AI can replace human researchers completely.
B. AI is only good at thinking and analyzing meanings.
C. AI is useless for studying oracle bones.
D. AI is helpful but can’t take the place of humans.
25. What’s the main idea of the passage?
A. How oracle bone script was invented 3,000 years ago.
B. Why oracle bone script is difficult to understand.
C. What the “library” of oracle bones looks like.
D. How AI helps scientists study oracle bone script.
【答案】21. C 22. B 23. C 24. D 25. D

五、阅读表达 (共5题;每题2分,满分10分)
根据短文内容,回答下列问题。
On November 26, 2025, a terrible fire broke out in Hung Fuk Court, Hong Kong. The fire started from the outside of the buildings and spread very fast. Easy-to-burn materials made the fire get bigger quickly. This fire caused great losses. Many people were hurt, and some even lost their lives. Firefighters worked hard to put out the fire and save people. This unexpected event tells us that fire safety is very important for everyone.
To keep safe from fires, we should do well in daily prevention first. Don’t put easy-to-burn things like old clothes or paper boxes on balconies or stairs, as they can easily catch fire. Remember to turn off electrical tools such as phone chargers (充电器) and lights when you don’t use them.
If a fire really happens, stay calm and don’t panic. Cover your mouth and nose with a wet towel to keep smoke out, and use stairs instead of lifts because lifts may get stuck during a fire. If you can’t run away, go to a room with a window. First close the door tightly and fill gaps (缝隙) with wet cloth. Then wave bright clothes at the window to ask for help. Also, it’s necessary to remember the fire exit routes (路线) of your home or school and take fire drills seriously.

Hello everyone! I suppose everyone has something they don’t like about themselves.
For me, it was the bright red birthmark on my face. I felt it was a disaster and always kept my hair long to cover it. Everything changed when a new student named Maddie arrived. One day, she said, “Sally, right? You have a red rose on your face. How beautiful!” Her words filled my heart with sunshine.

Do you often forget to drink water between classes? Try the new “Smart Cup”—a water bottle that talks to you! When it glows (发光) green, it means “Good job”. When it turns orange, it’s saying “Time to drink!” It even connects to your phone’s health app.
This smart cup acts like a mini teacher. Take a photo of your lunch, and it checks if you need more vegetables or protein (蛋白质). Want to eat ice cream? The bottle might say, “Try yogurt first”.
