六、阅读理解
The Power of Deep Work
Do you often find yourself checking your phone while studying? Maybe you can introduce yourself to the concept of “deep work”. By practicing deep work, you can dramatically improve your learning efficiency. “I can’t focus for more than ten minutes” becomes “I can focus for an hour without distraction”. Suddenly, the impossible becomes possible.
One school experimented with changing its study environment. They found that students who studied in quiet, distraction-free spaces performed much better than those who studied in noisy areas. So now students are encouraged to find a quiet place and turn off their phones during study hours. In this way, the students feel like they are in control of their learning. They just haven’t trained their focus yet, but they know they are on the right path.
This kind of thinking is part of “a focused mindset”. People with a focused mindset aren’t too worried if they can’t concentrate at first. They practice concentration and believe in their ability to improve. Instead, people who just give up easily have “an unfocused mindset”. These people are always distracted by notifications. Obviously, it is much better to have a focused mindset.
But don’t worry if you have an unfocused mindset. You can train yourself to develop better concentration. Don’t question your ability. Stop believing that you can’t focus. Once you start practicing regularly, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it before. It’s a simple but very powerful skill.
1. Why does the writer begin the text with a question?

How to Build Better Study Habits
When you are trying to build better study habits, you may often face challenges. What’s the best way to develop them?
You may start by setting small, achievable goals. This will give you a sense of progress and motivation. But how can you stay consistent?
First, all successful habits are built step by step. Start with one habit at a time. For example, if you want to study for two hours every day, begin with 30 minutes and gradually increase. Then, if you have two goals, “reading” and “practice”, “reading” should come before “practice” in your schedule.
Then what can you do to strengthen your habits after building them?
First, you should review your progress regularly. You can track your achievements by keeping a simple log! It is useful to adjust your plan when needed. Only in this way can we know which habits are working well. We can decide which methods to keep by seeing the results. After that, check whether your study routine is effective with the improvements you have made.
