Few insects worry people as much as bees. Bees are harmless and shy, yet their stingers (刺) can make people feel uncomfortable.
Mostly, bees will leave you alone if you leave them alone. But if you anger them, jumping into a pool or lake is not going to save you. The insect scientist Justin Schmidt warned that the opinion that bees can’t hurt you while you’re underwater is a dangerous thought. Actually, the bees won’t fly into the water. However, they will wait for hours until you show up. In fact, bees are interested in carbon dioxide, which you’ll produce in the water. So the bees will hide and wait to mess you up.
How can you get away from the angry bees? If you happen to make them angry. they may give you a warning by flying to you directly. Don’t try to swat them, because the bees regard fast move as a kind of attack (攻击). Instead, calmly leave the area. or find a shelter in a car or other enclosed area. You can also run. At about a quarter-mile, the bees might give up running after you.
You also should avoid spraying (喷洒) bees with water. This will only cause the bees more nervous. However, spraying with soapy water (肥皂水) can be a useful way to stop them.
If you do get hurt by the bees, you should first relax your skin and use your fingernails to remove the stinger. Then wash the area and use some ice to cool it. But if you feel uncomfortable like trouble breathing, go to the hospital as soon as possible.
26. Which is a dangerous thought about bees according to the passage?
A. Bees are harmless and shy. B. Bees won’t attack people underwater.
C. Bees won’t fly into the water. D. Bees make people feel hurt with their stingers.
27. What does the underlined word “swat” refer to in Paragraph 3?
A. To hide and avoid being found. B. To protect and look after them carefully.
C. To run after and try to catch them. D. To beat and drive them away with your hands.
28. What should you do if hurt by a bee?
A. Spray bees with water. B. Wash the wound with hot water.
C. Wait until you feel comfortable. D. Relax your skin before removing the stinger.
29. What can we learn from the passage about bees?
A. Spraying bees with soapy water can help stop them.
B. Bees aren’t interested in the CO2 people produce in water.
C. Bees will stop running after people as soon as they hide in a car.
D. Jumping into a pool can successfully keep people safe from bees.
30. Which can be the best title for this passage?
A. Angry Bees B. First Aid for Insect Hurt
C. Bees Are Dangerous D. Knowing How to Deal with Bees

The Power of Small Actions
Every day, the choices we make shape not only our lives but also the world around us. While small actions might seem insignificant at first, they hold the power to create meaningful change over time. How can you begin this journey? ____31____
· Start with kindness
Simple acts like smiling at a stranger, writing a thank-you note, or offering to help someone carry heavy bags can spread warmth in unexpected ways. ____32____? For instance, a study by Harvard University found that 75% of people feel happier after witnessing or performing (目睹或实施) a small act of kindness.
· ____33____
Protecting the Earth starts with daily habits. Turn off the lights when leaving a room, reuse water bottles instead of buying new ones, and sort garbage carefully. These actions might seem minor, but collectively, they reduce waste and save resources. ____34____? And others may follow your example. Imagine if every student in our school did just one green thing, such as recycling; we could actually make a difference together!
· Learn something new daily
Curiosity helps us learn. Being curious (好奇的) is like a motor for getting better. Spend 15 minutes reading an article about space, watch a documentary on wildlife, or ask a teacher a question you’ve never dared to ask. ____35____. As Albert Einstein once said, “The important thing is not to stop questioning.” Knowledge not only builds confidence but also prepares you for future opportunities.

When I was a child, my father loved to play catch (传接球) with me. I wasn’t very good at it but he would play anyway. He was always telling me “keep your eye on the ball” when I would not be able to catch even the easiest throws.
As I got older, we didn’t play catch as much. When I had a problem, I would go to my father and ask for his advice. He then tried to make a joke with me and said “keep your eye on the ball”. We would both laugh. Even if the advice didn’t work, his smile and the joke made me feel better.
My father became ill in 1995 when I was 23. There weren’t any more conversations, as he was paralyzed (瘫痪的). He couldn’t speak; he could only give mouth words which were sometimes hard to hear clearly. I seemed to be pretty good at reading his lips after a while, even better than the nurses that were caring for him. During one of our last conversations, I was telling him about a problem I was having with my friend. Once again, I could read his lips, “Keep your eye on the ball.” We both laughed.
That was the last time I saw my father before he passed away.
Years later, when I get into a stressful situation, I just tell myself, “Keep your eye on the ball!”

【8题详解】

“You can go first,” he said to the woman. “You’ll be done in a minute. It will take me much longer.”
The woman smiled and thanked him. Then she walked to the parking lot. A father and his daughter were by the car. The father was locking the car. The girl saw something on the ground and ran towards it. Suddenly a bike sped by and the woman quickly stopped the daughter.
“Thank you so much!” The father cried to the woman, “My daughter would be badly hurt if it weren’t for you. We’re so lucky.”

根据第六段“He reached the checkout at the same time as a woman with two items in her basket.”提到女子篮子里只有两件物品,以及男子对她说“You’ll be done in a minute. It will take me much longer.”可知,男子让女子先结账是因为她的物品较少,结账更快。
【23题详解】
梳理故事发生的时间顺序:第一段“The manager saw a young boy trying to push his grandmother’s wheelchair (轮椅) through the doors. She thought he might need help, so she ran to give him a hand. ‘Let me help you.’”对应经理帮助男孩推轮椅(③);第四段“‘Let me help you,’ said the boy. The man thanked the boy for his kindness.”对应男孩帮助男子捡掉落的商品(④);第七段“‘You can go first,’ he said to the woman.”对应男子在收银台让女子先结账(①);倒数第三段“Suddenly a bike sped by and the woman quickly stopped the daughter.”对应女子在停车场救了小女孩(②)。正确顺序为③④①②。

C
