Oh, i'd love to, but my dad told me to pick him up at the airport at eight thirty P. M. Professor wang is the most demanding teacher in the world. This is the third time you've been late this week, Robert. You have to do Better than that, or I might find that necessary to let you go. May I have your address and telephone number? mr. Pumper, i'm not mr. pumper. I'm mrs. roth. You made a mistake. I actually got them from Sandy's treats, a new Baker nearby. Well, the bus runs every half an hour, and there's only one train per hour. But according to the schedule, the train is arriving in just five minutes and will get to the city hall fifteen minutes quicker. Let's take that. Thank you for looking over my report, Jennifer. As i'm new here, I wasn't sure who to ask for help. I'm now struggling to improve my slide though. Yeah, IT started to rain early on, and the storm didn't let up for nearly an hour. There were several times when we lost control of the ball because the field was so wet. IT was a real test of adaptors for both teams. Well, IT has some of the most wonderful beaches in the world, including one that seventy five miles long. In fact, the island is in the record books as the biggest one on earth, made entirely of sand.

Can you tell us about your work . in goal setting? Well, when IT comes to goal setting, i'm really focused. For example, if I want to lose weight, i'll get a group of close friends around me and tell them I want to lose weight and improve my health. Then i'll take action to achieve this goal by stopping eating unhealthy foods. Why do you gather some close friends together? It's important for me because I need support. I know I can't do IT on my own. Also, IT helps because I able to share my problems with them. And by telling other people I really want to do this and I seek your help, they can keep you honest, I suppose. And why is IT that most people do so badly at reaching goals? They lose focus. Everybody's life is busy. There are so many happenings in everybody's life that they might have a goal, but then something will get in the way of that. Good morning. Everybody's life is busy. There are so many happenings in everybody's life that they might have a goal, but then something will get in the way of that. Recently, I stayed the royal inn in the town of bright bay. IT was a disappointing experience, to say the least. The hotel was not at all as advertised on its website. The pictures showed beautiful gardens when, in truth, these gardens consisted of one bed of roses next to the parking lot. The rest of the space around the hotel was taken up by a busy road and a vacant lot. A pool was advertised, but we found there was no water in IT. The only promise on the website that was kept was that free internet access would be available in the rooms. In addition, the rooms were in very poor condition. The door to my room was broken and only opened and shut with great difficulty and a loud bang, which is just shocking. Even worse, there were muddy hand prints in the shower. I felt like I needed to clean everything before I could use IT. IT was disgusting. If this hotel had been very cheap, perhaps the problems would be forgivable. However, IT was an average Price hotel. I would never recommend them to anyone. Recently, I stayed at the royal park in the town of bright bay. IT was a disappointing experience, to say the least. Mary, where's your mother? He is preparing . breakfast in the kitchen. What are our plans for today? How about going on a boat tour? I think your mother will also like this idea. Yes, I don't mind that the weather is a bit cloudy. Uncle pa works on a tour company, and he's telling tres about the history of the town when they're on the boat today. I'd love to listen to him. Me too. I'll book our tickets on mine. Tom, i've got the computer game called Green space. Where did you find out about IT? I borrowed . a magazine from a friend, and there was an ad for IT. I asked my mom, and SHE bought IT for me from their website. I really like that game. Who are you going to play IT with? Well, my brothers too busy, and my cousin amy only likes board games only. My granddad has lots of time, so I want to play with him. Which part do you like best? Crossing the river is really good, but what I enjoy most is finding something to eat. The part about building a house is my least favourite ite. Hi bill, when did you get . back about an hour ago? What's new? Did anyone call? Yeah, someone called dave made a phone call this afternoon is at the holiday in hotel. You can get in touch with him there. Oh, that's my old friend from college, dave Johnson. I knew he was coming in the town. I didn't expect him today though. Should we ask him to our . party tonight? I'd like to one. We've already invited twenty people, and the apartment is pretty small. Don't worry, we can always make room for one more. The more the happier, you know. that's true. And the other guests will be. Like dave, he's very friendly and he always has funny stories and jokes to tell. Be sure to tell him not to dress up. It's not formal, you know. Okay, i'll go to a pick. Gave up. He doesn't know this sound well. You might lose his way . coming alone, okay? Professor smith. hi Justin. How are you? You don't look very happy. I'm OK, but i'm doing badly in your class. I wonder how to do Better. I think . coming prepare to class may do something to improve your grades. How can I prepare for a class? Have you checked out my web page? All my lecture notes are on my web page. You can read them first. really. Wow, that would be very helpful. Another good idea is to read the book before class. I usually don't do that. I thought hearing the lecture first would be Better . than reading first. Reading first is actually Better. You should also write down ideas or notes while you're reading. That way, you can come to class with some questions. Yeah, thank you very much. Professor smith, I feel much Better now. Good morning, everyone. Today we need to choose a new director for the marketing department. There are two candidates for this position, amy common and sam toward. First, lets explore amy's qualifications for this position. On the positive side, SHE has excEllent communication skills and is experienced in running a marketing team. Additionally, he is really popular among the other employees. On the other side, amy is not receptive to new information or viewpoints, and she's not creative enough. Now let's turn to sam in the first place. Sam doesn't have much experience or good communication abilities compared to amy, but he seems to have much potential despite his lack of experience. He is very creative, and I could see that while working with him in the same team. He even attends a class on sunday these days to learn some marketing skills. I know it's hard to find the ideal person to handle this job on a short meeting. We'll meet here again on next friday at nine o'clock. We must have a clear decision before sunday.
I started an art project called underwater home owners association and painted numbers on two thousands of large signs. The people who put the signs in their yards created a real homeowners association to address climate change in their communities. On tuesday morning, we enjoyed the beauty of the mechanical gardens, followed by a tour of the Victoria parliament house in the afternoon. He spent all day at the hotel talking with each member of the staff, from the top guy to the lady who cleaned the toilets. All have been replaced by these stupid reality shows and game shows, you know. Just imagine Jenny may have been at home drinking a glass of wine while her AI clone voice worked hard to sing her songs. But people didn't believe her until french author john put a hole in the nineteen eighties, was asked to write an article about cooking in the past.

The / students / who / had / finished / their / homework / early / were / allowed / to / leave / the / classroom / and / go / to / the / library.
The students who had finished their homework early / were allowed to leave the classroom / and go to the library.
I like coffee, but my sister prefers tea. →
but / because / so / although / when / which 等词前常有停顿
I stayed at home / because it was raining.
The man wearing a black suit / is my uncle. →

The students who had finished their homework early / were allowed to leave the classroom.
意群1
意群2
The students who had finished their homework early
were allowed to leave the classroom
关键词:students, finished
关键词:allowed, leave
规律:从句引导词(because / although / when / if / since)前有停顿。
示例:I stayed at home / because it was raining heavily outside.
I stayed at home
because it was raining heavily outside
关键词:stayed, home
关键词:raining
The book, I think, / is worth reading.
意群1
意群2
The book, I think
is worth reading
关键词:book
关键词:worth reading
I need to buy apples, oranges, bananas, and some milk.
意群1
意群2
意群3
apples
oranges
bananas, and some milk

What did the speaker do as part of the art project?
A. He painted numbers on signs.
B. He designed a homeowners association.
C. He built thousands of houses.
I started an art project called Underwater Homeowners Association and painted numbers onto thousands of large signs.
I started an art project called / Underwater Homeowners Association / and painted numbers onto / thousands of large signs.
【答案】A
【解析】 切分后两个主干动作——started an art project 和 painted numbers onto signs。

A. They started a homeowners association.
B. They designed new signs for the community.
C. They moved to a different community.
The people who put the signs in their yards created a real homeowners association to address climate change in their communities.
The people who put the signs in their yards / created a real homeowners association / to address climate change in their communities.
【答案】A
to address climate change

people, put, signs
created a real homeowners association
created, association

What did the students do on Tuesday afternoon?
A. They visited the Botanical Gardens.
B. They toured the Victoria Parliament House.
C. They explored Swanton Street.
On Tuesday morning, we enjoyed the beauty of the Botanical Gardens, followed by a tour of the Victoria Parliament House in the afternoon.
On Tuesday morning, / we enjoyed the beauty / of the Botanical Gardens, / followed by a tour of the Victoria Parliament House / in the afternoon.
【答案】B
【解析】in the afternoon 是时间信号,followed by a tour of the Victoria Parliament House 是下午的具体活动。
On Tuesday morning, / we enjoyed the beauty/ of the Botanical Gardens, / followed/ by a tour of the Victoria Parliament House / in the afternoon.
意群

考题:What did Mr. Rochester do at the hotel?
A. He talked with every staff member.
B. He cleaned the toilets himself.
C. He met only the hotel manager.
He spent all day at the hotel, talking with each member of the staff, from the top guy to the lady who cleaned the toilets.
He spent all day at the hotel, / talking with each member of the staff, / from the top guy / to the lady who cleaned the toilets.
【答案】A
He spent all day at the hotel, talking with each member of the staff。from the top guy to the lady who cleaned the toilets 是对 each member 的具体说明。

What is the woman’s attitude toward reality shows?
A. Positive. B. Neutral. C. Negative.
All have been replaced by these stupid reality shows and game shows, you know.
All have been replaced by these stupid reality shows /and game shows, / you know.
What does the woman think of the AI clone voice?
A. It is a promising business model.
B. It makes Jenny lazier.
C. It works harder than Jenny.
Just imagine: Jenny may have been at home, drinking a glass of wine, while her AI clone voice worked hard to sing her songs.
Just imagine: / Jenny may have been at home, / drinking a glass of wine, / while her AI clone voice worked hard / to sing her songs.

What do we know about Jean Bottéro?
A. He proved Mary Hussey right.
B. He taught history at Yale University.
C. He was the first to translate the texts.
But people didn’t believe her until French author, Jean Bottéro, in the 1980s was asked to write an article about cooking in the past.
But people didn’t believe her / until French author, Jean Bottéro, / in the 1980s / was asked to write an article / about cooking in the past.
【答案】A
主干是 until French author... was asked to write an article。但题目问的就是 Jean Bottéro,所以需要知道他是“French author”,然后结合后面 found out that they were indeed about food 来判断——他证实了 Mary Hussey 的观点。

第一步:听连接词 → 确定意群边界(but / because / so / when / which / that 等词前常有停顿)

Q1(考点:意群切分——转折信号词定位)
A. Collect his father.
B. Attend a party.
C. Catch a flight.
【答案】A
Oh, I’d love to. But my dad told me to pick him up at the airport at 8:30 p.m.
Oh, I’d love to. / But my dad told me / to pick him up at the airport / at 8:30 p.m.
主干是 pick him up at the airport。
Q2(考点:信息分层——态度词定位)
A. Strict.
B. Interesting.
C. Easy-going.
Professor Wang is the most demanding teacher in the world.
【答案】A
Professor Wang / is the most demanding teacher / in the world.
most...in the world 是修饰,强调程度。
Q3(考点:意群切分——长句主干提取)
A. Robert’s friend.
B. Robert’s boss.
C. Robert’s mother.
This is the third time you’ve been late this week, Robert. You have to do better than that or I might find it necessary to let you go.
This is the third time / you’ve been late this week, / Robert. / You have to do better than that / or I might find it necessary / to let you go.
主干是 let you go → 解雇。
Q4(考点:意群预判——逻辑信号词定位)
A. He failed to place an order.
B. He forgot the woman’s name.
C. He went to the wrong address.
M: May I have your address and telephone number, Mrs. Pomper?

May I have your address / and telephone number, / Mrs. Pomper? + I’m not Mrs. Pomper. / I’m Mrs. Ruth. / You made a mistake.
You made a mistake
Q5(考点:意群切分——长句主干提取)
A. A restaurant.
B. A bakery.
C. Sandwiches.
I actually got them from Sandie’s Treats, a new bakery nearby.

A. The opponents were strong.
B. The goalkeeper lost several balls.
C. The playing conditions were difficult.

A. It has sand everywhere.
B. It covers seventy-five square miles.
C. It has the most beaches in the world.
Well, it has some of the most wonderful beaches in the world, including one that’s seventy-five miles long. In fact, the island is in the record books as the biggest one on earth made entirely of sand.
【答案】A
Well, it has some of the most wonderful beaches / in the world, / including one / that’s seventy-five miles long. / In fact, / the island is in the record books / as the biggest one on earth / made entirely of sand.
made entirely of sand

M: Why do you gather some close friends together?
W: It’s important for me because I need support. I know I can’t do it on my own. Also, it helps because I’m able to share my problems with them. And by telling other people I really want to do this and I seek your help, they can keep you honest, I suppose.
M: And why is it that most people do so badly at reaching goals?
W: They lose focus. Everybody’s life is busy. There are so many happenings in everybody’s life that they might have a goal, but then something will get in the way of that.

A 19. C 20. B
M: Recently, I stayed at the Royal Inn in the town of Bright Bay. It was a disappointing experience to say the least. The hotel was not at all as advertised. On its website the pictures showed beautiful gardens. When in truth, these gardens consisted of one bed of roses next to the parking lot. Even worse, there were muddy handprints in the shower. I felt like I needed to clean everything before I could use it. It was disgusting. If this hotel had been very cheap, perhaps the problems would be forgivable. However, it was an average priced hotel. I would never recommend it to anyone.

The students... were allowed to leave...
...who had finished their homework early...
The students who had finished their homework early / were allowed to leave the classroom.
意群1
意群2
The students who had finished their homework early
were allowed to leave the classroom
关键词:students, finished
关键词:allowed, leave
规律:从句引导词(because / although / when / if / since)前有停顿。
示例:I stayed at home / because it was raining heavily outside.
I stayed at home
because it was raining heavily outside
关键词:stayed, home
关键词:raining
The book, I think, / is worth reading.
意群1
意群2
The book, I think
is worth reading
关键词:book
关键词:worth reading
I need to buy apples, oranges, bananas, and some milk.
意群1
意群2
意群3
apples
oranges
bananas, and some milk

第一步:听连接词 → 确定意群边界(but / because / so / when / which / that 等词前常有停顿)
because / since / as
so / therefore / thus
but / however / although
when / while / as
