B I’ve often wondered if I might do more good as a travel agent rather than as a psychologist. It seems that I have been more dramatically affected by certain kinds of travel experiences than I ever have. My trip to Iceland is a fine example of that. The plan was to spend two days in a remote mountain hut (棚屋) in Iceland. I was working on a photographic book about winter in Iceland and needed to capture images of this amazing region of high mountain peaks, smoky volcanoes, and lakes with floating icebergs. The moment after we arrived, the weather turned extreme making visibility impossible. It snowed so much and the wind blew so hard that we couldn’t leave the tiny hut. To stay warm, we walked around in circles much of the day inside the tiny hut. We tried to call for help but the radio did not work. Day after day, we watched our supplies of food and fuel grow dangerously short. We got acute cabin fever (幽居病) and started going for walks and ski expeditions outside. Even when the weather finally broke, nobody came to get us even though it was three days beyond our scheduled pickup. By the time the rescue team came to pull us out, we had all given up hope. From then on, the world looks different to me, as does my life. It would have taken me years of psychotherapy (心理治疗) to get to the same point. Almost everyone has a story to tell, and interestingly, most of these experiences were not altogether pleasant at the time. In fact, it appears that the most constructive life-changing journeys were those that involved some sorts of awful and uncomfortable events that forced the person to develop new resources, increase confidence, and solve problems in new ways. 39. Why did the writer go to Iceland? A. To enjoy the natural beautiful floating icebergs. B. To collect materials for psychological research. C. To challenge the high mountains there. D. To take photos about the region for a book. 40. During the trip in Iceland, the difficulties those travelers faced are the following EXCEPT that _________. A. they were short of food and fuel B. they got lost in the mountain C. they couldn’t see the surroundings clearly D. they failed to get in touch with the rescue team 41. What can we conclude from the passage? A. The writer is a travel agent who loves difficult challenges. B. In Iceland, the weather is always extreme and it snows a lot. C. Awful journeys may become life-changing events that encourage people. D. The writer was so depressed that he needed years of psychotherapy to recover. 42. What would be the best title for the passage? A. My Uncomfortable Trip to Iceland B. My Dramatic Travel Experiences C. An Unforgettable and Inspiring Adventure D. A Trip About Solving Problems in New Ways C After Taylor Swift, the “Mona Lisa” is probably the most recognizable female face in the world. Every day around 20,000 people stare at the Leonardo da Vinci’s painting in the Louvre. Yet it became famous not because of a tempting semi-smile. Until a worker stole the masterpiece in 1911, it was still mostly unknown; viewers flooded in to see what a French newspaper called “an enormous, horrific, gaping void (空白)”. Classics of art, literature and music are supposed to carry some mysterious appeal that endures across the ages. But as Rochelle Gurstein, a historian, writes in a new book, the “timeless classic” is anything but. “What I believed was written in stone was actually written in water”, she argues. Classics come and go. Take other celebrated works of art. Until the end of the 19th century Michelangelo’ s “David” had only his fig leaf to protect him from the weather in Piazza della Signoria in Florence. He attracted more pigeons than visitors; visitors preferred the artist’s sculpture of Moses in Rome. Before the famous “Venus de Milo” was discovered in 1820, viewers were crazy about “Venus de Medici”, a delicate sculpture most people alive today have never heard of. Much as in art, the classics of music and literature have not always been set in stone either. Today, Johann Sebastjan Bach is often regarded as the master of classical music. But after his death in 1750, Bach’s compositions fell out of fashion until Felix Mendelssohn, a German composer, rediscovered them in the 1820s. Herman Melville’s masterpiece “Moby Dick” was largely forgotten until critics such as Raymond Weaver, a professor at Columbia University rescued him from the depth of a nobody around the centenary of his birth in 1919. “The status of classics” depends on critics and shows the power of passionate writers to change the way people look at art. Tastes evolve, and they should. But culture lives on only as long as people continue to argue over what counts as a classic today. The true enemy of the classic is not relativism or awakening. It is silence. 43. What made the painting “Mona Lisa” famous? A. The theft. B. The semi-smile. C. The report. D. The painter. 44. What does Rochelle think of classics? A. Enduring. B. Fading. C. Changeable. D. Admirable. 45. How does the author develop paragraph 4? A. By making a comparison. B. By offering examples. C. By giving an explanation. D. By giving a description. 46. What might ultimately discourage the development of classics? A. The ignorance of culture. B. The course of time. C. The evolution of tastes. D. The lack of criticism. D As more species near extinction, scientists have been collecting samples of plants, animals and other organisms in protected facilities around the world. Yet climate change, natural disasters, and wars can threaten these modern “Noah’s arks (诺亚方舟)”. Now, some researchers propose an out-of-this-world solution: to build one on the Moon. The plan is to construct the ark in a permanently shadowed region at the Moon’s south pole, where temperatures remain around -196℃(-320.8℉). That is the minimum needed to safely store most animal cells long-term, according to Mary Hagedorn and her team at the Smithsonian National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute. They argue that such a lunar gene bank would be far more stable than any on Earth. Hagedorn’s team drew inspiration from the global seed bank in Svalbard, Norway — a subzero Noah’s ark situated high above the Arctic Circle. In 2017, melting permafrost (永冻土层)flooded that bank, putting its precious seeds at risk. Events like this highlight the need for an extra backup plan. Earlier, researchers at the University of Arizona proposed a lunar ark that would “shelter seeds, eggs, and DNA” in caves known as lava tubes using a solar-powered system. In contrast, Hagedorn’s proposal maximizes the Moon’s naturally cold, permanently shadowed regions that require no energy or constant human maintenance. In these conditions, fibroblasts (纤维母细胞)— “one of the most powerful cells available” — could be safely stored and later transformed into stem cells for cloning. Such technology might help rebuild endangered species or even recreate ecosystems for future human settlements on the Moon or Mars. The project faces hurdles such as radiation protection and microgravity effects on the samples. Moreover, international cooperation is essential, as the scientific community must largely agree on the plan, and some Earth communities consider the Moon sacred (神圣的). Although “nothing’s set in stone at this point”, the proposal offers a promising new safeguard for Earth’s biodiversity. 47. Why do scientists propose building a lunar ark? A. To expand storage space. B. To promote space exploration. C. To establish a research base. D. To preserve biological samples. 48. How does the author highlight the need for an extra plan? A. By mentioning an Arctic seed bank failure. B. By emphasizing the stability of arks on Earth. C. By explaining how the deep cold preserves cells. D. By listing the achievements of current gene banks. 49. What does the underlined word “maximizes” mean in paragraph 4? A. Increases as much as possible. B. Tries one’s best to address. C. Relies on to the highest degree. D. Makes the best use of. 50. What is the author’s attitude towards the future of the lunar ark? A. Objective. B. Optimistic. C. Doubtful. D. Critical. Emotional intelligence, sometimes referred to as EQ, refers to a person’s ability to recognize, understand, manage and reason with emotions. ____51____ And it is a hot topic not only in psychology but also in the business world. Ever since I could remember, every Saturday afternoon, I would steal up the wooden stairs, watching in awe as he broadcast his beloved show, “Melodies of Memory,” to our small town. His voice, deep and warm like honey pouring from a jar, would introduce each record with a story that made every song feel like it was written just for us. Last month, when he passed away peacefully in his sleep, the station fell into an unnatural silence that seemed to swallow our whole town. The microphone stood silent, the records gathered dust, and my heart ached with a hollow emptiness. Today, while sorting through his cherished collection in the attic (阁楼), my fingers came across something unexpected — a small, yellowed note in his familiar handwriting inside his favorite Beethoven record. It simply said, “For my Sarah. Keep the music alive.” Those four words struck something deep within me, awakening a determination I didn’t know I possessed. With trembling hands, I unlocked the station door for the first time since his passing. Everything stood exactly as he had left it, the microphone, the turntables (唱机转盘) and the records all waiting patiently. My eyes welled up with tears as I traced my fingers over his worn leather chair, “Could I, just a quiet high school girl with no broadcasting experience, possibly fill the shoes of a legendary host like him?” Taking a deep breath that smelled of memories and possibilities, I settled into his chair. I selected his favorite record — Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, the very one that had held his final message to me. Placing the record carefully on the turntable, I watched it begin to spin as I put on the headphones like what my grandfather once did. With a push of the button, the familiar red “ON AIR” sign flashed on. I knew it was the time. I opened my mouth, but no sound came out at first. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the final notes of the music faded, I saw many people moving outside. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 大庆铁人中学2025级高一年级下学期期末考试 英语 试题说明:1、本试题满分150分,答题时间120分钟。 Which street is QuikBank on? Please take your seats and let’s get going. I won’t talk for long, as our destination is only a 20-minute bus ride from our hotel here in central Stockholm. Today we’re visiting Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum. As a “living museum”, Skansen provides us with a picture of ordinary Swedish life before the Industrial Age. The site features over 150 historical buildings brought to the museum from all over the country. Activities take place each day in both Swedish and English; they are given by actors in traditional costume, which really brings the history to life. Skansen is the world’s only open-air museum with wild animals, and the Nordic Zoo features many types of local wildlife such as deer and bears. There’s also a Children’s Zoo. The Skansen Aquarium also has fish, plus many other creatures such as snakes, insects and monkeys! A Trip About Solving Problems in New Ways 【答案】39. D 40. B 41. C 42. 根据第二段中的“I was working on a photographic book about winter in Iceland and needed to capture images of this amazing region of high mountain peaks, smoky volcanoes, and lakes with floating icebergs.(我当时正在制作一本关于冰岛冬季的摄影书籍,需要拍摄这片有着高耸山峰、冒烟火山和漂浮冰山湖泊的绝妙区域的照片。)” 根据第三段中的“The moment after we arrived, the weather turned extreme making visibility impossible. It snowed so much and the wind blew so hard that we couldn’t leave the tiny hut.(我们刚到,天气就变得极端,能见度完全为零。雪下得极大,狂风肆虐,我们根本无法离开这间小木屋。)”以及“We tried to call for help but the radio did not work. Day after day, we watched our supplies of food and fuel grow dangerously short.(我们尝试呼救,但无线电失灵了。日复一日,我们眼看着食物和燃料储备少到了危险的地步。)”可知,作者一行人遭遇视线受阻、无法求救、物资短缺的困境,文中全程未提及他们在山中迷路。 【41题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段中的“In fact, it appears that the most constructive life-changing journeys were those that involved some sorts of awful and uncomfortable events that forced the person to develop new resources, increase confidence, and solve problems in new ways.(事实上,看起来最有益、能改变人生的经历,是那些包含各类糟糕、令人难受事件的经历,这些事件迫使当事人发掘新能力、提升自信,并用新方法解决问题。)” 通读全文,尤其是尾段中的“Almost everyone has a story to tell, and interestingly, most of these experiences were not altogether pleasant at the time. In fact, it appears that the most constructive life-changing journeys were those that involved some sorts of awful and uncomfortable events that forced the person to develop new resources, increase confidence, and solve problems in new ways.(几乎每个人都有一段故事可以讲述,有意思的是,这些经历在发生时大多并不全然美好。事实上,那些最具积极意义、能改变人生的历程,往往都包含各种糟糕、煎熬的遭遇,这些遭遇迫使人们挖掘自身新力量、增强信心,并以全新方式解决问题。)”可知,文章以作者惊险的冰岛之旅为事例,讲述这段难熬的冒险经历彻底改变了自己的心态与生活,极具纪念意义与启发意义。因此,“一次难忘且富有启发的冒险”最贴合全文主旨,适合作为最佳标题。 C After Taylor Swift, the “Mona Lisa” is probably the most recognizable female face in the world. A 44. C 45. B 46. 根据第一段中“Yet it became famous not because of a tempting semi-smile. Until a worker stole the masterpiece in 1911, it was still mostly unknown; viewers flooded in to see what a French newspaper called “an enormous, horrific, gaping void (空白)”.(然而,它之所以出名,并不是因为一个诱人的半笑。直到1911年一名工人偷走了这幅杰作,它基本上仍然不为人知;观众蜂拥而至,看到一家法国报纸所说的“一个巨大的、可怕的、裂开的空洞”。)”可知,让《蒙娜丽莎》这幅画出名的是一次工人偷窃事件。故选A项。 根据第二段中“But as Rochelle Gurstein, a historian, writes in a new book, the “timeless classic” is anything but. “What I believed was written in stone was actually written in water”, she argues. Classics come and go.( 但正如历史学家罗谢尔•格斯坦(Rochelle Gurstein)在一本新书中所写的那样,“永恒的经典”绝非如此。“我相信写在石头上的东西实际上是写在水里的,”她说。经典作品来来去去。)”可知,罗谢尔认为经典作品是多变的。故选C项。 【45题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“Today, Johann Sebastjan Bach is often regarded as the master of classical music. But after his death in 1750, Bach’s compositions fell out of fashion until Felix Mendelssohn, a German composer, rediscovered them in the 1820s. Herman Melville’s masterpiece “Moby Dick” was largely forgotten until critics such as Raymond Weaver, a professor at Columbia University rescued him from the depth of a nobody around the centenary of his birth in 1919.(今天,约翰·塞巴斯蒂安·巴赫通常被认为是古典音乐大师。 根据最后一段““The status of classics” depends on critics and shows the power of passionate writers to change the way people look at art. Tastes evolve, and they should. But culture lives on only as long as people continue to argue over what counts as a classic today. The true enemy of the classic is not relativism or awakening. It is silence.(“经典的地位”取决于评论家,并显示了热情的作家改变人们看待艺术的方式的力量。品味在进化,也应该如此。但是,只要人们继续争论什么是今天的经典,文化就会继续存在。经典的真正敌人不是相对主义或觉醒。它是沉默。)”可知,缺乏批评可能最终阻碍经典的发展。故选D项。 D As more species near extinction, scientists have been collecting samples of plants, animals and other organisms in protected facilities around the world. A. Objective. B. Optimistic. C. Doubtful. D. Critical. D 48. A 49. D 50. 根据第一段“As more species near extinction, scientists have been collecting samples of plants, animals and other organisms in protected facilities around the world. Yet climate change, natural disasters, and wars can threaten these modern “Noah’s arks”. Now, some researchers propose an out-of-this-world solution: to build one on the Moon.(随着更多物种濒临灭绝,科学家一直在世界各地的防护设施中收集动植物及其他生物样本。然而气候变化、自然灾害和战争会威胁这些现代‘诺亚方舟’。如今部分研究者提出星际方案:在月球建造一座方舟)”可知,科学家提议建造月球方舟是为了保存生物样本、保护地球生物多样性。 【48题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“In 2017, melting permafrost flooded that bank, putting its precious seeds at risk. Events like this highlight the need for an extra backup plan.(2017年,融化的永冻土层淹没了这座种子库,使其珍贵的种子陷入危险。此类事件凸显出制定额外备用方案的必要性)”可知,作者通过提及北极种子库遭遇险情的事例,突出额外备用方案的必要性。 【49题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第四段“In contrast, Hagedorn’s proposal maximizes the Moon’s naturally cold, permanently shadowed regions that require no energy or constant human maintenance.(相比之下,哈格多恩的方案maximizes月球天然低温、永久阴影的区域,无需能源和持续的人工维护)”可知,该方案无需能源和持续的人工维护。 根据最后一段“ Although “nothing’s set in stone at this point”, the proposal offers a promising new safeguard for Earth’s biodiversity.(虽然目前一切尚未敲定,但该方案为地球生物多样性提供了极具前景的新保障)”可知,作者肯定其发展潜力,持乐观态度。 Emotional intelligence, sometimes referred to as EQ, refers to a person’s ability to recognize, understand, manage and reason with emotions. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Paragraph 1: I opened my mouth, but no sound came out at first. My mind went completely blank, the fear of failure flooding over me. Just as panic was about to consume me, the rich, familiar melody of Beethoven’s Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 filled my ears through the headphones. It was the very sound that had always comforted me in my grandfather’s presence. I closed my eyes, pretending he was sitting right across from me, giving me one of his encouraging nods. “Welcome,” I began, my voice a fragile whisper that quickly gained strength, “to a new chapter of ‘Melodies of Memory’. Today, we start with a piece that taught me about the quiet strength of nature, and of family.” Paragraph 2: As the final notes of the music faded, I saw something moving outside. To my astonishment, the town was packed with so many people. They were looking up in curiosity, standing still listening. Some had their eyes closed, others were smiling softly, and a few even had their hands over their hearts. Then, one by one, they began to clap. Tears streamed down my face. I hadn’t just played a record; I had bridged the gap between the past and the present, and in doing so, I had found my own voice. At that moment, I felt a deep connection to him and understood that his greatest legacy was not only about the music, but the courage to share it. 词汇激活 行为类 ①席卷,充满:flood over/be overcome with ②挤满:be packed with/be crowded with ③流泪:tears stream down//tears run down/shed tears 情绪类 ①害怕:fear/terror ②惊讶:astonishment/surprise 【点睛】[高分句型1] “Welcome,” I began, my voice a fragile whisper that quickly gained strength, “to a new chapter of ‘Melodies of Memory’. (由关系代词that引导的定语从句) [高分句型2] At that moment, I felt a deep connection to him and understood that his greatest legacy was not only about the music, but the courage to share it.(由连接词that引导的宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
