China launched its first group of national parks in 2021, marking an important step in wildlife protection. These parks not only protect animals but also preserve natural landscapes and cultural heritage. Here are four representative ones.
Park
Introduction
Wuyishan National Park
As a UNESCO World Heritage site for both culture and nature, Wuyishan National Park is located on the border between the Fujian and Jiangxi provinces in southeastern China. It stands out for its combination (结合) of ecological and cultural protection. It protects native species while also preserving ancient tea-growing culture and mountain traditions.
Northeast China Tiger and Leopard National Park
Located in Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces, this park covers over 1.46 million hectares. It is the only stable breeding site for wild Siberian tigers and Amur leopards. Thanks to years of strict protection, the number of tigers has increased from 27 to about 70, and leopards from 42 to around 80.
Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park
Located in Hainan province, this park protects China’s most well-preserved tropical rainforest. It is home to the Hainan gibbon (长臂猿), the world’s rarest primate. With only about 30 individuals left, the gibbons depend on the thick rainforest for fruits and shelter. The park plays a key role in saving this critically endangered species.
Giant Panda National Park
As the top habitat for wild pandas, this park covers parts of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. It connects separate panda habitats, allowing pandas to move, mate and find food more freely. It now protects over 70% of China’s wild panda population.

Just like almost every pair of new parents, Bryan and Elizabeth Shaw started taking photos of their son, Noah, from the moment he was born. When he was about three months old, Elizabeth noticed something strange when she took his photo. The flash on their digital camera created the typical red dot in Noah’s left eye, but a white spot appeared in his right eye. Worried, Elizabeth described it to their doctor, who immediately sent the family to an eye expert.
A white reflection instead of a red one is an obvious sign of eye cancer, and that is exactly what Noah had. He went through months of treatment, but, unluckily, doctors could not save his eye. Retinoblastoma (视网膜母细胞瘤), the scientific name of Noah’s tumor (肿瘤), is treatable if discovered early.
Bryan Shaw couldn’t help but wonder whether there were signs he’d missed. He went through every baby picture of Noah and discovered the first white spot in a photo taken when Noah was 12 days old. Over time, it appeared more frequently. “By the time he was four months old, it showed up in a quarter of the monthly photos,” said Bryan.
It was too late for Noah’s eye, but Bryan decided to put his insights to good use. He built a database recording the cancer’s appearance in every photo. He also collected the data from eight other children with the same disease. With that data, he and his coworkers developed a smartphone app which can scan (扫描) the photos in the user’s camera roll to search for white eye and can be used as a kind of instrument for examining the eyes.
The app, named White Eye Detector, is now available for free on Google Play and in Apple’s App Store. “I just kept telling myself that I really need to do this,” Bryan said. “This disease is tough to detect. Not only could this software save vision, but it can save lives.”
24. Why did Noah’s eye treatment fail?
A. The disease was too rare to treat.
B. The treatment was too expensive.
C. The parents didn’t notice the disease earlier.
D. The doctors lacked experience with the disease.
25. Why did Bryan re-examine Noah’s photos?
A. To look for unnoticed signs. B. To count the white spots.
C. To track Noah’s daily growth. D. To recall happy memories.
26. How did Bryan develop the app?
A. By using the collected data. B. By scanning users’ photos.
C. By taking photos of his son. D. By asking doctors for advice.
27. Which of the following words can best describe Bryan Shaw?
A. Honest and determined. B. Brave and humorous.
C. Traditional and serious. D. Selfless and creative.
C
Sports watching has long served as a source of enjoyment and relaxation. It offers a sense of community and belonging among audiences, which not only makes individuals feel good but also benefits society by improving well-being (健康快乐). However, existing studies on the relationship between sports watching and well-being, which only focus on sports fans, offer only limited evidence.
Therefore, Shintaro Sato and his research team carried out three different studies to explore the relationship between sports watching and overall well-being in the general population. In the first study, the researchers analyzed publicly available data on the influence of watching sports on 20,000 residents. The results confirmed that watching sports on a regular basis helps improve people’s well-being.
The second study involved an online survey with 208 participants. The team showed them various sports videos, recording their well-being both before and after watching. And they found that participants showed greater improvements in well-being when watching popular sports such as baseball, compared with less popular sports like cricket (板球).
However, the most important aspect of this research appeared in the third study. The team tracked the brain activity of 14 participants while they watched sports videos. The results suggested that sports watching activated the brain’s reward circuits (奖励回路) and produced feelings of pleasure. Besides, in the structural image analysis, the study found that individuals who reported watching sports more frequently showed greater gray matter volume in regions associated with reward circuits. This suggests that regular sports watching, particularly popular ones, can gradually change people’s brain structure and offer long-term mental benefits.
“Given the findings of the research,” as an expert put it, “it can make great differences to our society, especially in sports management practices and policy-making in the context of public health.”
28. Why did Sato’s team carry out their research?
A. To further prove previous studies.
B. To promote less popular sports events.
C. To upgrade community sports facilities.
D. To improve athletes’ mental well-being.
29. Which participants would improve their well-being most from the study?
A. Watching cricket on a regular basis. B. Watching baseball on a regular basis.
C. Watching cricket on an occasional basis. D. Watching baseball on an occasional basis.
30. What can we learn about sports watching from the third study?
A. It causes negative brain emotions.
B. It greatly improves people’s memory.
C. It increases gray matter in all brain areas.
D. It gradually leads to brain structural changes.
31. What does the last paragraph talk about?
A. Importance of public health. B. Suggestions for sports watching.
C. Possible direction for further study. D. Potential application of the findings.
D
According to Yung Pueblo, a poet and author, self-love includes being completely honest, building good habits, and accepting yourself fully. He believes that if there is one thing that can help teenagers stay healthy in mind, body and emotions, it is the ability to love themselves.
In winter, 2025, the phrase “Love you, Lao Ji” quickly became popular on Chinese social platforms. Some people mentioned desires for snacks, and then immediately placed orders for themselves, ending with a self-indulgent “Love you, Lao Ji; see you tomorrow”. This playful expression, which changes “myself” into “Lao Ji” with a dialect flavour, has got tens of thousands of likes on related short videos.
Traditional “self-love” often appears as slogan-type expressions, usually with the pressure of “what one should do”. But, “Love you, Lao Ji” encourages the expression of self-love through real actions, such as cooking a meal for oneself or buying a small cake as a treat.
Similar things are happening globally. Many young people are into “treat culture”, rewarding themselves with small purchases like snacks or conveniences as a form of self-care.
Part of treat culture goes back to the basic psychological concept of positive rewards. When you do something positive or are trying to build up habits, earning a treat or reward can help make that behavior stick. Just like “Love you, Lao Ji”, treat culture also serves as a way to deal with social pressures and stressors. Jillian Amodio, a social worker said, “Small, intentional pleasures become a way to take back control and ground oneself in the present.”
No matter “Lao Ji” or treat culture, it is a way for young people to accept themselves, recognizing small efforts and accepting occasional small faults. As one netizen put it, “No one will stay with me forever, but I will always be there for myself.” This certainty of self-company holds more power than praise from others.
32. What does the underlined word “self-indulgent” in paragraph 2 mean?
A. Allowing oneself small pleasures. B. Being strict with oneself.
C. Feeling sorry about one’s actions. D. Expecting care from others.
33. How does “Love you, Lao Ji” differ from old self-love ideas?
A. It stresses moral duty. B. It needs expensive self-reward.
C. It focuses on actual actions. D. It avoids traditional social pressure.
34. According to Jillian Amodio, what role can treat culture play?
A. Trend leader. B. Stress reliever. C. Habit builder. D. Culture supporter.
35. What is the text mainly about?
A. The origin of treat culture.
B. The popularity of a Chinese saying.
C. The psychological basis of reward systems.
D. The concept and practice of modern self-love.

My sister Sarah and I had always been close, but last spring, something came between us. She had offered to help paint my new apartment, and I gladly accepted. After all, she had studied art in college and had an eye for color. I trusted her completely.
She spent an entire weekend helping me choose the perfect shade of blue for the living room. When she finished the first wall, I stood back to admire her work. The color was beautiful, but it wasn’t what I had imagined. I had pictured something softer, more like the sky at dawn. Without thinking, I said, “It’s lovely, but maybe we should go with something lighter?”
The change in her face was immediate. She put down the brush, wiped her hands, and said she needed to leave. I tried to explain, but she just shook her head. “You should have said something earlier,” she said quietly, and walked out the door.
I stared at the half-painted wall, feeling confused. I hadn’t meant to hurt her feelings. I had only shared my honest opinion. But the more I thought about it, the more I understood. She had given up her entire weekend for me. She had poured her time and talent into making my home beautiful. And I had responded by telling her it wasn’t good enough.
Weeks passed without a word between us. I told myself she was being unreasonable. She was the one who had walked out, after all. But deep down, I knew I had handled things poorly. I had focused on the paint instead of appreciating the person holding the brush. My pride kept me from picking up the phone.
Then one evening, I found an old photo of us from childhood. We were building a sandcastle together, both covered in sand, both laughing. That image stayed with me. I realized that our relationship had never been about perfection. It had always been about showing up for each other, even when things got messy.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为 150 个左右;
I picked up the phone and dialed her number.

21. What is a feature of Wuyishan National Park?
A. Its geographical location.
B. Its leading role in eco-protection.
C. Its eco-cultural preservation.

C 25. A 26. A 27. D

根据第二段“Retinoblastoma (视网膜母细胞瘤), the scientific name of Noah’s tumor (肿瘤), is treatable if discovered early. (诺亚的肿瘤——视网膜母细胞瘤——是一种及早发现便能治愈的疾病)”可知,Noah的治疗失败是因为家长没能更早发现病症。
【25题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“Bryan Shaw couldn’t help but wonder whether there were signs he’d missed. He went through every baby picture of Noah (Bryan忍不住想知道自己是不是遗漏了一些征兆,他翻看了Noah所有婴儿照片)”可知,他重新翻看照片是为了寻找当初没留意到的患病迹象。
根据第四段“He built a database recording the cancer’s appearance in every photo. He also collected the data from eight other children with the same disease. With that data, he and his coworkers developed a smartphone app (他建立了数据库,记录每张照片中癌症的表现情况,还收集了另外八名患儿的数据,依靠这些数据和同事开发了一款智能手机应用程序)”可知,他依靠收集到的数据开发出这款应用。
【27题详解】
推理判断题。根据第四段“It was too late for Noah’s eye, but Bryan decided to put his insights to good use. (Noah的眼睛已无法挽救,但Bryan决定将他的发现加以利用)”以及第五段“The app, named White Eye Detector, is now available for free on Google Play and in Apple’s App Store. (这款名为“白眼检测器”的应用程序现已在Google Play和苹果App Store免费提供)”、“Not only could this software save vision, but it can save lives. (这款软件不仅能拯救视力,还能挽救生命)”可知,Bryan将自己的亲身经历转化思路,创新研发筛查软件体现创造性;软件免费向公众开放,只为帮助更多孩子尽早发现眼癌、挽救生命,不求任何回报体现无私。
A 29. B 30. D 31. D
根据第一段中“However, existing studies on the relationship between sports watching and well-being, which only focus on sports fans, offer only limited evidence.(然而,现有关于观看体育赛事与幸福感之间关系的研究仅聚焦于体育迷群体,提供的证据十分有限)”以及第二段中“Therefore, Shintaro Sato and his research team carried out three different studies to explore the relationship between sports watching and overall well-being in the general population.(因此,Shintaro Sato及其研究团队开展了三项不同的研究,旨在探究普通人群中观看体育赛事与整体幸福感之间的关系)”可知,由于此前的研究存在局限性,Shintaro Sato团队开展这项研究是为了进一步探索并证实之前研究中提到的两者之间的关系。
根据第三段中“And they found that participants showed greater improvements in well-being when watching popular sports such as baseball, compared with less popular sports like cricket (板球).(他们发现,与观看板球等冷门体育项目相比,参与者在观看棒球等热门体育项目时,幸福感的提升幅度更大)”以及第四段中“This suggests that regular sports watching, particularly popular ones, can gradually change people’s brain structure and offer long-term mental benefits.(这表明,经常观看体育赛事,尤其是热门项目,能够逐渐改变人们的大脑结构,并带来长期的心理健康益处)”可知,经常观看热门体育项目(如棒球)对提升幸福感的效果最好。
根据第四段中“Besides, in the structural image analysis, the study found that individuals who reported watching sports more frequently showed greater gray matter volume in regions associated with reward circuits.(此外,在结构影像分析中,研究发现,报告更频繁观看体育赛事的个体在与奖励回路相关的脑区显示出更大的灰质体积)”以及“This suggests that regular sports watching, particularly popular ones, can gradually change people’s brain structure and offer long-term mental benefits.(这表明,经常观看体育赛事,尤其是热门项目,能够逐渐改变人们的大脑结构,并带来长期的心理健康益处)”可知,第三项研究结果表明,经常观看体育赛事会逐渐导致大脑结构的改变。
根据最后一段““Given the findings of the research,” as an expert put it, “it can make great differences to our society, especially in sports management practices and policy-making in the context of public health.”(“鉴于这项研究的发现,”正如一位专家所言,“它将对我们的社会产生重大影响,特别是在体育管理实践和公共卫生背景下的政策制定方面。”)”
A 33. C 34. B 35. D

根据第二段“Some people mentioned desires for snacks, and then immediately placed orders for themselves, ending with a self-indulgent “Love you, Lao Ji; see you tomorrow”. (有些人提到想吃零食的欲望,然后立即为自己下了订单,最后以self-indulgent“爱你老己;明天见”结束)”可知,self-indulgent描述的是这种满足自身小愿望、给自己买零食犒劳自己的行为,即“允许自己享受小小的快乐”。
【33题详解】
细节理解题。根据第三段“Traditional “self-love” often appears as slogan-type expressions, usually with the pressure of “what one should do”. But, “Love you, Lao Ji” encourages the expression of self-love through real actions, such as cooking a meal for oneself or buying a small cake as a treat. (传统的“爱自己”往往以口号式的表达方式出现,通常伴随着“应该做什么”的压力。但是,“爱你老己”鼓励通过实际行动来表达自爱,比如为自己做饭或买一个小蛋糕作为款待)”可知,与传统自爱观念不同,“爱你老己”侧重于通过实际行动来践行自爱。
【34题详解】
细节理解题。根据第五段“Just like “Love you, Lao Ji”, treat culture also serves as a way to deal with social pressures and stressors. Jillian Amodio, a social worker said, “Small, intentional pleasures become a way to take back control and ground oneself in the present.”(就像“爱你老己”一样,犒赏文化也是一种应对社会压力和压力源的方式。
D项“The concept and practice of modern self-love(现代爱自己的概念与实践)”全面概括了文章的核心内容。

If you plan a long hiking trip, you have to carry all your daily things on your back. ____37____ It can move most weight to your hips instead of your shoulders, making you less tired.
Stop to rest and stretch (拉伸) regularly. Long hours of walking and climbing put heavy pressure on your muscles and joints. Take short rests every hour during your activity. Use these breaks to do simple stretches for your legs, shoulders and back. ____38____
Plan well for post-trip recovery. Your body needs care even after your adventure is over. ____39____ For example, after a five-day hike, you’d better avoid hard training in the gym. If you carry heavy things for a long time, visiting a chiropractor (脊椎按摩师) is also a good choice to release body stress.

B. Therefore, a well-matched backpack is a must.
C. Get fully prepared and start your wonderful outdoor journey.

上文“Before you start your trip — whether it’s a one-day boat trip or a multi-day hike — think clearly about your physical strength and limits, especially if you are new to outdoor sports.(在你开始旅行之前——无论是一日乘船之旅还是多日徒步——要清楚地思考你的体力和极限,特别是如果你是户外运动新手)”强调评估体能的重要性,下文“So you’d better look up information about your route first and choose a journey suitable for your fitness level.(因此你最好先查询路线信息,选择符合自身体能水平的行程)”给出量力而行的结果。
上文“If you plan a long hiking trip, you have to carry all your daily things on your back.(如果你计划长途徒步,你必须把所有日常用品背在身上)”指出负重徒步的现实需求,下文“It can move most weight to your hips instead of your shoulders, making you less tired.(它能将大部分重量转移到臀部而非肩部,减轻疲劳)”描述某装备的功能优势。
上文“Use these breaks to do simple stretches for your legs, shoulders and back.(利用这些休息间隙做腿、肩、背的简单拉伸)”给出具体动作建议,G选项“These movements can relax tight muscles, and lower the risk of injuries.(这些动作能放松紧绷肌肉,降低受伤风险)”中的These movements直接指代上文提到的拉伸动作,解释了拉伸的直接益处。
上文“Your body needs care even after your adventure is over.(即使在你的冒险结束后,你的身体也需要护理)”提出恢复期的概念,下文“For example, after a five-day hike, you’d better avoid hard training in the gym.(例如,在五日徒步之后,你最好避免在健身房进行高强度训练)”列举具体恢复策略。E选项“This is why you should plan some recovery strategies in advance.(这就是为什么你应该提前规划一些恢复策略)”中的This指代上文句子,而why引出下文的具体例子,起到承上启下的作用。
上文四段分别阐述了“Figure out your physical limits.(弄清楚你的体能极限)”、“Get suitable and comfortable equipment.(获取合适舒适的装备)”、“Stop to rest and stretch regularly.(定期停下来休息和拉伸)”以及“Plan well for post-trip recovery.(为旅行后的恢复做好规划)”四个具体建议,本空位于文章结尾,C选项“Get fully prepared and start your wonderful outdoor journey.(做好充分准备,开启精彩的户外之旅)”既总结了全文“充分准备”的核心主题,又以鼓励性话语收束全文,升华主旨。

Dear classmates,
Recently many of us finish English writing homework with AI. Personally, it is risky to totally rely on AI to write essays. Though AI saves time, we will lose chances to practise writing and master grammar by ourselves, which harms our long-term English study.
Here are two tips to use AI properly. First, finish your draft on your own, and then use AI to polish sentences and correct mistakes. Second, look up difficult expressions with AI and memorize them for future use.
Let’s make AI our helper instead of a substitute.

注意:
1. 续写词数应为 150 个左右;
I picked up the phone and dialed her number.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
When I got to the apartment, she was already there.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
I picked up the phone and dialed her number. My heart pounded with each ring. I had spent weeks letting pride hold me back, but the old photo of us building a sandcastle kept replaying in my mind. To my relief, she answered. “I’m sorry,” I said. I apologized for being thoughtless. She had given up her whole weekend for me while I only found fault. A long silence followed. Then she admitted she had overreacted too. “Can we try again?” I asked. “Yes,” she said. “I’ll come over tomorrow.” I hung up feeling lighter than I had in weeks.
When I got to the apartment, she was already there. She stood before the half-painted wall. She turned and gave me a small smile. “I brought some lighter shades,” she said, holding up color cards. I shook my head. “The blue you chose is beautiful. Let’s keep it.” Her eyes widened, then softened. We picked up our brushes and painted side by side. By the time we finished the wall, our misunderstanding was gone. Some things are worth more than the perfect color.
