My name is Vienna Cammarota.I'm a hiker from Italy.I have been a fan of Italian traveler Marco Polo since childhood, which later led me to become a tour guide.Years of hiking have helped me maintain good health.Even at 75, I still have no need for reading glasses. About 20 years ago, my interest in China was fueled by a student from Beijing who stayed in my home. The connections we made and the friendships we developed raised my curiosity about China.Following that, I found myself drawn to The Travels of Marco Polo, reading it over and over again to understand China through its vivid descriptions. The description of the ancient Silk Road in the book particularly fascinated me. In 2018, the idea of retracing the ancient Silk Road came to me, which inspired me to map out a journey covering 22,000 kilometers from Venice to Beijing, passing through 15 countries in three to four years. At first, my children didn't believe it was practicable. However, as they observed my detailed planning, they gave me their full support. My journey began on April 26, 2022.For more than two years, I overcame practical challenges and psychological pressures, walked through mountains and waters, and crossed cities and villages in different countries.Along the way, I have gained insights into the history, culture, and customs of each country I visited. As I explored the remains of the ancient Silk Road, I was struck by the vast changes our world has experienced. The ancient Silk Road is a route that greatly boosted the flow of goods, spread of science and technology, interaction of ideas, and integration of diverse cultures on the Eurasian continent. As I journeyed along this historical route, I witnessed that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), carrying forward the legacy(遗产) of the ancient Silk Road, has benefited more and more people across different countries. Many livelihood projects built by China, including highways, railways, and crosssea bridges, have brought tangible results to the people in Belt and Road partner countries. 1.What initially inspired Vienna's interest in China? A.A book she read in childhood. B.A tour guide she met in Venice. C.A documentary about the Silk Road. D.A Chinese student who bonded with her. 2.What was Vienna's children's first reaction to her travel plan? A.They doubted her competence. B.They thought it was unrealistic. C.They advised her to put it off. D.They were proud of her ambition. 3.What can we learn about Vienna's journey? A.It was a tough hike through familiar landscapes. B.It was a long trip resulting from cultural exchanges. C.It was a long journey witnessing the BRI's impact. D.It was a long adventure with government's support. 4.Which is closest to the meaning of the underlined word “tangible” in the last paragraph? A.Concrete. B.Predictable. C.Mixed. D.Uncertain. 根据第二段中“About 20 years ago, my interest in China was fueled by a student from Beijing who stayed in my home. The connections we made and the friendships we developed raised my curiosity about China.(大约20年前,我对中国的兴趣被一位住在我家的北京学生激发起来。 根据第三段中“In 2018, the idea of retracing the ancient Silk Road came to me, which inspired me to map out a journey covering 22,000 kilometers from Venice to Beijing, passing through 15 countries in three to four years. At first, my children didn't believe it was practicable.(2018年,我萌生了重游古丝绸之路的想法,这激励我规划了一段从威尼斯到北京的22 000公里的旅程,在三到四年内穿越15个国家。 根据最后一段“As I journeyed along this historical route, I witnessed that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), carrying forward the legacy(遗产) of the ancient Silk Road, has benefited more and more people across different countries.(在这条历史之路上,我见证了‘一带一路’倡议继承了古丝绸之路的传统,使越来越多的国家人民从中受益。)” 根据最后一段“Many livelihood projects built by China, including highways, railways, and crosssea bridges, have brought tangible results to the people in Belt and Road partner countries.(中国建设的许多民生项目,包括高速公路、铁路和跨海大桥,给‘一带一路’伙伴国家的人民带来了tangible成果。)” We just got back from a weeklong trip through New Mexico where we traveled through desert landscapes, hiked up mountains, and walked through dry creek beds. We experienced nature and wildlife that was vastly distinct from what I've seen before. We've lived in Atlanta for 25 years so it was quite a change from our “city in a forest”. My husband and I were joined by our adult son who now lives in San Diego and is a little more familiar with the west. We'd like to visit national parks and explore interesting ecosystems. In New Mexico, everything seemed striking and amazing. Starting in Albuquerque, we took a tram up the Sandia Peak in the Sandia Mountains, where we had fantastic views as we watched paragliders float off into the unending sky. We then drove to Abiquiu, the town where artist Georgia O'Keeffe was so inspired. We stayed at a lovely home pretty much in the middle of nowhere. First, we noticed the breathtaking setting. Then we noticed the ants: billions of tiny ants were marching all over the outside of the property. They were carrying off a few of the native bees that had fallen to the ground near the house. Once we were awakened in the middle of the night by howling(嚎叫) that was both strange and musical. We were told about the coyotes(郊狼) that share the area, so we weren't surprised when we woke up the next morning to find some pretty impressive paw prints right outside the back door. On our final morning hike before heading south in the state, we even spotted a large snake curled up on the path, enjoying the warm morning sun. We stayed far out of its way but certainly watched our steps a little more carefully. We talked about sustainability throughout the trip. In the past several decades, there's been so much noticeable change in our travel adventures. It will be great to keep the skies cleaner and save energy. And the coyotes and snakes can be left to dance and enjoy the sunshine in peace. 5.What was the family's first impression of the trip to New Mexico? A.It was familiar to them in many aspects. B.It was dangerous but totally fresh for them. C.It was simple and plain with little to explore. D.It was quite different from their previous experiences. 6.Which of the following best describes the author's experience in New Mexico? A.Romantic. B.Eventful. C.Conventional. D.Regretful. 7.What message does the author want to convey in the last paragraph? A.It's beneficial for us to take an adventure tour. B.It's threatening to live with wildlife around. C.It's necessary to boost sustainable tourism. D.It's difficult to keep the balance of ecosystem. 8.Where is the text most probably taken from? A.A reflection in a travel journal. B.An essay about the plans for traveling. C.A guidebook to a new destination. D.An introduction to a new type of traveling. 根据第一段第二句“We experienced nature and wildlife that was vastly distinct from what I've seen before.” 第三段中的“we took a tram up the Sandia Peak... watched paragliders float off into the unending sky.”和“Then we noticed the ants: billions of tiny ants were marching all over the outside of the property.” 7.C [推理判断题。 With sleep tourism on the rise, hotels are beginning to take sleep more seriously. Here are some of tips for getting some rest while traveling. __1__ When we're at home, our bodies relax more easily.Whether it's new sounds or smells, our brains are on highalert and scanning the hotel room as unfamiliar terrain. So find ways to bring the sensory familiarity of home to your hotel room.Candles are a hard no in hotel rooms, so pack a favorite perfume, lotion, or essential oil that can supplement a warm shower. Tackle your worries __2__. The trip may involve difficult family matters or work stress, but typically the things that are keeping us from falling asleep are not ones that you can act on at that moment. We've all heard about the benefits of a gratitude journal, but don't underestimate the power of the worry journal. Write all of these worries down on a piece of paper as a way to relieve your brain from the burden of them and focus on the task at hand—sleeping. Stick to your routine Good sleep is all about routine.Meditating, taking a long shower, using your favorite night cream or turning off your phone, your prebed routine from home are key.__3__. Your brain starts to understand what comes next is sleep. Get out of bed It's 3 a.m.local time, but your internal clock is still set five hours earlier.__4__. If you're struggling, especially in a new time zone, get yourself out of bed, tossing and turning won't help you. Do your research __5__. While there are many things you can do to ensure a good night's sleep while traveling, there are an increasing number of hotels that are eager to help you on your journey. A.Hard as you try, you just can't fall asleep B.Repeating those activities while traveling will ease your body and spirit C.Try reading a book or listening to calming music until you feel sleepy D.Find the familiar in the unfamiliar E.Most importantly, find a hotel that takes its hospitality seriously F.Avoid caffeine and heavy meals before bedtime to ensure a restful night G.We don't always travel for leisure 1.D [根据下文“When we're at home, our bodies relax more easily.Whether it's new sounds or smells, our brains are on highalert and scanning the hotel room as unfamiliar terrain. So find ways to bring the sensory familiarity of home to your hotel room.(当我们在家的时候,我们的身体更容易放松。 与D项“Find the familiar in the unfamiliar(在不熟悉中寻找熟悉)”表达的含义一致。] 2.G [根据下文“The trip may involve difficult family matters or work stress, but typically the things that are keeping us from falling asleep are not ones that you can act on at that moment.(旅行可能涉及棘手家庭事务或工作压力,但通常让我们难以入睡的事情并不是你当时可以采取行动的。)” 与G项“We don't always travel for leisure(我们并不总是为了休闲而旅行)”表达的含义一致。] 3.B [根据上文“Good sleep is all about routine.Meditating, taking a long shower, using your favorite night cream or turning off your phone, your prebed routine from home are key.(良好睡眠全在于日常作息。 与B项“Repeating those activities while traveling will ease your body and spirit(在旅行中重复这些活动将使你的身体和精神放松)”表达的含义一致。] 4.A [根据下文“If you're struggling, especially in a new time zone, get yourself out of bed, tossing and turning won't help you.(如果你在挣扎,尤其是在新的时区,让自己离开床,辗转反侧不会帮助你。)” 与A项“Hard as you try, you just can't fall asleep(尽管你努力,但你就是无法入睡)”表达的含义一致。] 5.E [根据下文“While there are many things you can do to ensure a good night's sleep while traveling, there are an increasing number of hotels that are eager to help you on your journey.(虽然有很多事情你可以做以确保在旅行中有一个良好的夜晚睡眠,但越来越多的酒店渴望在你的旅途中帮助你。)” 与E项“Most importantly, find a hotel that takes its hospitality seriously(最重要的是,要找到一家真正重视其接待服务的酒店)”表达的含义一致。] Ⅲ. For those traveling to the Bingling Temple Grottoes in Gansu Province, the journey 1.________(it) is an experience. The recommended way 2.________(reach) the temple is to take a shuttle boat, which allow visitors to see 3.________natural wonder of the clear green water of the Yellow River merging with the yellow currents of the Tao River. 故填to reach。] 故填the。] 故填where。] 这里考查“It was...that...” ,是强调句结构,此处强调时间状语after the founding of the People's Republic of China。故填that。] 故填of。] 10.have been conducted [考查动词语态。 此空考查谓语动词,In recent years是现在完成时的标志,a series of conservation projects与conduct之间是被动关系,所以用现在完成时的被动语态,“a series of...” 故填have been conducted。] Ⅳ. Dear Daniel, ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Yours sincerely, Li Hua [参考范文] Dear_Daniel, I hope you're having a wonderful time touring our city. You told me earlier that you would be free this Sunday, so would you like to take a city walk with me? Here is my plan. After meeting at 9:00 a.m. at the city square, we can head toward the city wall built around 2,000 years ago, feeling the history in person. Our next stop will be a bridge decorated with stone lions, whose expressions are amazing. After that, hitting the gift street is a must, where you can buy beautiful souvenirs! What do you think of my plan?I'm looking forward to your reply. Yours_sincerely, Li_Hua 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
