The Role Model in My Heart
Everyone has a role model in his or her heart. So do I. My role model is Yuan Longping, known as “Father of Hybrid Rice”.
Although he was a famous scientist, he lived a simple life. He spent over 50 years researching rice to solve hunger problems. Because of his efforts, millions of people have enough food. His perseverance teaches me to never give up.
Whenever I face difficulties, I remember his words: “Keep dreaming and work hard.” I want to contribute to society like him. His spirit will always guide me.

Have you ever seen a painting that looks more like a feeling than a photograph? That’s the magic of Claude Monet, a famous French artist. Unlike other painters in the 19th century who tried to make their paintings as real as photos, Monet chose a different method. He used light and color to show how a scene felt at a certain moment.
Born in Paris in 1840, Monet loved nature and started drawing when he was young. One of his most famous paintings is Impression (印象), Sunrise. It shows the beauty of a sunrise over a port (码头)in France. When an art critic (评论家) first saw it, he said it was just an “impression” of a sunrise. This word actually named a whole new art movement—Impressionism.
Monet often painted the same subject at different times of the day to show how light changes. His Water Lilies collections include about 250 paintings. The same flowers look soft purple in the morning and shiny bronze (青铜色) at noon. He once said, “The richness I achieve comes from nature, the source of my inspiration (灵感来源).”
Monet was not just an artist. He was also a gardener and designed his own garden in Giverny. He lived there for 43 years. In his later years, he had cataracts (白内障), so more warm colors like red and orange appeared in his paintings.
Even today, years after his death, Monet’s works still amaze people around the world. His art reminds us that sometimes, how you feel is more important than what you see.
23.How was Monet different from other painters in the 19th century?
A.He didn’t paint nature much.
B.He painted more real than photos.
C.He used light and color to show feelings.
24.Why did Monet paint the same subject at different times of the day?
A.To show how light changes.
B.To practice his drawing skills.
C.To make his paintings look shiny bronze.
25.What can we learn about Monet from the passage?
A.He was born in London.
B.He painted 250 works in total.
C.He got inspirations from nature.
26.What does the writer want to remind us about Monet’s art?
A.Warm colors are better for paintings.
B.Gardening is important for artists’ work.
C.Your feelings may matter more than those you notice.

Even during the war, Tao never forgot his dream. In 1939, he set up Yucai Middle School in Chongqing. 35 Tao’s life can be best described by his own words, “Giving a whole heart, yet taking nothing in return, not even a leaf of grass.”

I am Lucy from Australia. Last term, my teacher asked me to join a group project about world cultures. There were four of us in the group. At first, we had a big problem. Everyone had different ideas, and we couldn’t agree on anything. I worried that we would never finish the project. I even wanted to give up halfway. But then we had a talk. We decided to listen to each other and share the work. I took notes, Mike drew pictures, Anna looked up information online, Tom put everything together and wrote the report. Slowly, our project started to look really good. On the school fair day, we showed our work to other classes. Many students came to see it. Our group got the highest score in class. I felt so proud that I told my parents right away. They gave me a big smile. I learned that when people work together and help each other, they can do great things. Now I enjoy team projects more than before.

【答案】23.C 24.A 25.C 26.C
根据第一段“Unlike other painters in the 19th century who tried to make their paintings as real as photos, Monet chose a different method. He used light and color to show how a scene felt at a certain moment.”
24.根据第三段“Monet often painted the same subject at different times of the day to show how light changes.”
25.根据第二段“Born in Paris in 1840”可知,Monet出生于巴黎,而非伦敦,A选项错误;根据第三段“His Water Lilies collections include about 250 paintings.”可知,250 是《睡莲》系列的作品数量,并非他一生创作的总作品数,属于偷换概念,B选项错误;根据第三段他的名言“The richness I achieve comes from nature, the source of my inspiration.”
26.根据最后一段“His art reminds us that sometimes, how you feel is more important than what you see.”

Teachers are often thought to be engineers of the human soul (灵魂). Their job is to spread knowledge, ideas and truth. 31 He is the Chinese educator Tao Xingzhi.
Tao was born in Anhui Province in 1891. In 1914, he went to study at Columbia University in the US. There he learned about educational theory from John Dewey, an American educational reformer (改革家). When Tao returned to China in 1917, he started his work. However, he did not blindly copy Dewey’s educational methods. He believed education should not be just about teachers talking and students listening. 32
Besides changing how people teach, Tao also tried to improve the education for common people. 33 The results surprised him: over 70% of the people in cities were not able to read or write. To solve the problem, Tao organized young workers and farmers to study while working.
34 So in 1927, Tao set up Xiaozhuang Normal College in the countryside of Nanjing. This school trained teachers and educators, and most of them later went to teach in village schools.
Even during the war, Tao never forgot his dream. In 1939, he set up Yucai Middle School in Chongqing. 35 Tao’s life can be best described by his own words, “Giving a whole heart, yet taking nothing in return, not even a leaf of grass.”

36.B 37.A 38.B 39.C 40.A 41.B 42.B 43.A 44.A 45.A
turn off“关闭电器”、get off“下车”适用对象均不是航天器。
