An Unforgettable Sports Experience
Our school hosted a class basketball match last week. Our team members spared no effort to train after school for weeks. On the court, they dashed around and cooperated perfectly to pass the ball. We classmates stood by the field, shouting loudly to cheer our team up. Even though we narrowly lost the match, none of us felt disappointed.
The game left a lasting impression on me. I truly understand that teamwork and perseverance outweigh victory itself. I’m looking forward to more fantastic sports events in the future.
第四部分 写作 第二节 读后续写
One Possible Version:
That night, Sophia lay in bed, worried about their relationship and the project. Tossing and turning for hours, she couldn’t stop replaying their bitter argument. A wave of guilt washed over her as she thought about how she had cut Melody off without letting her explain. Staring at the half-finished slides, she remembered all the creative ideas Melody had contributed. With a heavy heart, she realized her pursuit of perfection had hurt the person who cared about her most. She picked up her phone and sent Melody a message, asking to meet at the café the next day.
The next day, Melody arrived early at the café, hoping to continue her interrupted explanation. She sat nervously, twisting a crumpled hospital receipt in her hand. To her surprise, Sophia walked in ten minutes early and apologized sincerely for her rudeness. Tears in her eyes, Melody explained that her neighbor grandma had fallen and she had rushed her to the hospital. Relieved and regretful, they hugged tightly. They spent the rest of the morning finishing the project together, knowing their friendship had grown stronger through this misunderstanding.

W: You download the app and input some personal information such as your height, your weight and your level of physical activity and Plant Nanny tells you how much water you should be drinking.
M: Right...
W: Then you choose a virtual plant. Each time you drink water, you tap the screen, and the app records it. Basically, if you drink enough water, your virtual plant will grow.

W: For Scientific American's Science Quickly, I am Kendra Pierre.Scientists have added the first insect to the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance's Frozen Zoo in California. Researchers successfully collected cells of the critically endangered Lord Howe Island stick insect and added them to the biological bank, which is dedicated to protecting and preserving the world's wildlife. The Lord Howe Island stick insect is a large, flightless creature without a backbone. It can be found only on a small group of islands in Australia. They were considered extinct in the wild in 1930, but a tiny population was rediscovered in 2001. The Melbourne Zoo in Australia led the effort to preserve the species and partnered with the San Diego Zoo in 2012.The Frozen Zoo, which was established in 1975, also holds samples from more than1,300 species and subspecies of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, andplants. The samples are frozen using a method called cryopreservation and stored at-320° F. Scientists could one day revive the cells to stop a species from going extinct.

第二部分 阅读 (共两节,满分50分)
第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Four of Europe’s Best Beginner
Hikes The Chemin de Puy, France
Length: 40 miles
Time: 4 days
We’ve picked a short section through rural Gascony, starting in Éauze, where the land is rich and green, the gentle hills easily tackled and the food and wine always appealing. You need to walk against the flow of hikers to reach the loveliest town. For three miles before you reach it, hilltop Lectoure attracts you with rolling wheat fields. Once there, expect to be greeted by cafes and old walls.
Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Italy
Length: 5.5 miles
Time: 3 — 4 hours
It surrounds three of the most impressive rock walls yet the path is broad and steady throughout. It begins and ends at a series of car parks by the Rifugio Auronzo (access is controlled and there’s a fee to pay). Hike it in June or September to avoid the high-summer crowds and bring a pair of telescopic hiking poles if you’re tackling it in June, in case there’s still snow on the path.
Heidschnuckenweg, Germany
Length: 30 miles
Time: 3 days
The path is easy with hills no higher than 555 feet and is broad and sandy for most of its length. Hike it in late August when the heather blooms (石楠花盛开) and turns the landscape into a sea of purple. The three-day stretch provided by stages 3 to 5, from Handeloh to Bispingen, offers a lovely taster — with rail access at either end and some peaceful villages for overnight stops.
Hadrian’s Wall, England
Length: 21 miles
Time: 4 — 5 days
The central section of Hadrian’s Wall, from Birdoswald to Chollerford, is a long and continuous treat, packed with amazing ruins. The long-distance path that follows the wall is well-maintained and is shadowed by a lower, flatter route. Just remember to keep each day’s walking short. That way you’ll have time to explore key sites and museums.
21. Which of the following can be completed within a day?
A.The hike to Hadrian’s Wall, England. B.The hike to Heidschnuckenweg, Germany.
C.The hike to Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Italy. D.The hike to the Chemin de Puy, France.
22. Why are visitors advised to hike Heidschnuckenweg in late August?
A.They can admire flowers. B.They can avoid the crowds.
C.They can park cars for free. D.They can explore a snowy path.
23. Who are most likely to be attracted by Hadrian’s Wall, England?
A.Hikers expert in gardening. B.Hikers curious about rock art.
C.Hikers with a passion for history. D.Hikers with a good taste for coffee.
B
Yesterday, a salesman called me by phone, on behalf of a telecom company, to sell his phone plans. I was at work and I usually didn’t like telemarketing (电话销售), so I excused myself that I couldn’t talk yet and said he could call me back one hour later, at 6:00 p.m.
That’s what he did. So we talked for 15 minutes. He explained to me his different phone plans, which he stated to be better than my current one. While listening to him, sometimes I was lost in my thoughts and I gave several “hmm hmm” as a sign of agreement to convince him that I was still there. Sometimes, I felt a bit impatient, especially as he had difficulty in correctly talking in French. But I stayed calm and polite until the end of the discussion.
At the end of the conversation, he revealed (袒露) the following to me: “Thank you, Linda. You are the first person in a long time with whom I had an enjoyable conversation. Usually, people shout at us, speak to us rudely, and treat us as thieves. Today, since 10:00 a.m., I hadn’t had a conversation without an offense. I know you had a long day at work and you could have relaxed in front of your TV. Instead, you listened carefully to me. I sincerely thank you. I wanted to tell it to you.”
I thanked him for this revelation. I realized how much he could have been the subject of verbal violence, all through his working days. Unfortunately, the telephone enables the customers to have such aggressive behavior. Indeed, physical barriers do not exist in this situation and a kind of dehumanization (非人性化) seems to happen. I am also conscious that those people getting impatient could have been me. Yet, he was only doing his job and he shouldn’t have suffered from the violence.
24. Why did the author let the salesman call back later?
A. She meant to refuse him at once.
B. She showed interest in his phone plans.
C. She hoped for more about telemarketing.
D. She wanted to use the way to discourage him.
25. How can we describe the author during the 15-minute talk?
A. Patient. B. Careful.
C. Kind of absent-minded. D. Obviously impolite.
26. What did the salesman intend to express in Paragraph 3?
A. His deep apology. B. His true appreciation.
C. His anger at misunderstanding. D. His sufferings in telemarketing.
27. What does the underlined part “verbal violence” in Paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Unkind spoken words. B. Physical barriers.
C. Salesmen’s impatience. D. Customers’ Humanization.
C
Soil, often taken for granted, is emerging as a powerful tool in the fight against climate change. A growing number of farmers around Europe are turning to regenerative farming to improve soil health and earn extra income by selling soil carbon credits. Modern farming practices, including continuous heavy ploughing (耕地) and overuse of chemical fertilizers (肥料), have seriously damaged soil structure and released large amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. In contrast, regenerative agriculture helps soil absorb and store CO₂, a major greenhouse gas, while also improving soil fertility.
Thomas Gent and his family run an 800-hectare (公顷) farm on the border of Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire. They stopped ploughing entirely 17 years ago and now grow grass alongside main crops. The improved soil structure allows rainwater to drain (流走) naturally and supports healthier plant growth. “The soil is the foundation of everything we do,” Gent says. “If we look after it, it looks after us.”
Companies like AgreenaCarbon specialize in measuring and confirming carbon stored in soil. Farmers receive tradable carbon credits, each representing one ton of CO₂ locked away in the soil. They can earn between £ 200 and £300 per hectare per year by selling these credits, creating a reliable extra income stream that supports their switch to greener farming methods. The soil carbon credit market is still in its early stage but expanding fast across Europe, with more than 16,000 farmers in 16 countries having joined such programmes, covering over 1.6 million hectares of land.
Critics warn that the voluntary carbon market risks greenwashing if projects are not strictly monitored and checked. However, supporters believe soil carbon projects bring multiple environmental and economic benefits: better soil health, higher biodiversity, less soil erosion (侵蚀) and measurable climate action. For forward-thinking farmers, adopting regenerative farming and participating in carbon credit programs is not just environmentally responsible — it is also economically rewarding, ensuring the long-term sustainability of their farms.
28. What is the aim of regenerative farming?
A. To increase agricultural production. B. To improve soil health.
C. To reduce the farming cost. D. To prevent extreme weather.
29. What can be learned about Thomas Gent’s farm?
A. It is the largest carbon farm in Europe.
B. It depends heavily on chemical fertilizers.
C. It has given up traditional ploughing for years.
D. It earns most of its income from carbon credits.
30. What’s the main idea of paragraph 3?
A. Extra incomes of European farmers. B. Development of soil carbon credit market.
C. Popularity of greener farming methods. D. Functions of soil carbon storage companies.
31. What can be inferred about the soil carbon credit market?
A. It is strictly monitored globally. B. It disturbs traditional market.
C. It mainly serves large enterprises. D. It faces both support and criticism.
D
The ocean may appear boundless. It’s easy to imagine that fish and other ocean creatures swim freely without restriction. That assumption, however, is mistaken. According to ecologist Karissa Lear, many ocean species stick to specific habitats and seldom go beyond them. This habit can cause unexpectedly big problems, especially when human-built structures get in the way.
Take, for example, the green sawfish living near the mouth of the Ashburton River in Western Australia. In 2017, a large structure was built by the shore, stretching about 550 yards into the sea. As Lear had feared, the construction did harm the critically endangered green sawfish — they were unable to pass around the barrier. To Lear, this discovery supported a surprising new idea that ocean animals, much like land species, need a helping hand getting around human-built structures.
On land, wildlife crossings are becoming more common. Green bridges, for instance, help bears and elk avoid a road in Canada’s Banff National Park. In 2022, a wildlife crossing in Washington State was used more than 5,000 times by animals such as deer and coyotes. Although the bridges are already popular on land, Lear says little attention has been paid to the idea of wildlife crossings designed to help ocean animals get around safely.
For ocean animals, too many barriers can cut them off from important feeding sites. Overly limited movement can lead to the development of isolated groups that are more likely to go extinct. With more large structures planned for the Ashburton River area, Lear says the cumulative (累积的) effect of multiple barriers is a real concern for the green sawfish’s future.
As the climate continues to change, paying attention to the needs of ocean animals is important. Many are moving farther north, and they need suitable habitats to move through. To address this, we can create crossings through human-built structures or protect habitats along their migration routes. As we continue to engineer the ocean, such efforts could go a long way toward protecting ocean life.
32. How does the author present the issue in the first paragraph?
A. By detailing research findings. B. By describing a natural scene.
C. By addressing public concerns. D. By challenging a common belief.
33. What effect did the structure near the Ashburton River have?
A. It provided a new habitat for ocean life.
B. It blocked the path of the green sawfish.
C. It attracted more new species to the area.
D. It drove the green sawfish into deep waters.
34. What does Lear imply about wildlife crossings?
A. They have reduced road accidents on land.
B. They will replace ocean barriers eventually.
C. They have destroyed land animals’ habitats.
D. They are urgently needed for ocean animals.
35. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Wildlife Crossings: From Land to Sea B. When Ocean Life Is in Danger
C. The Sawfish That Lost Their Way Home D. Ocean Structures: No Harm Done

How to Develop Effective Learning Habits
Learning is not merely about spending long hours with books. Truly effective learners know how to manage their time, energy, and mindset. Here are several strategies to help you study smarter.
36.___________.Set clear, achievable goals before each study session. Instead of "I'll study biology today," write down "I'll finish reading Page 12–15 and summarize the three types of cells." Specific targets keep you focused and give you a sense of accomplishment when ticked off.
Review regularly, not just before exams. The Ebbinghaus forgetting curve shows we lose most newly learned information within days if we don't review it. 37.___________. Even a ten-minute recap each morning reinforces memory and reduces last-minute cramming stress.
Find your optimal environment. Some concentrate better in total silence; others prefer soft background music. 38.___________. Also, keep your phone out of reach—constant notifications are the enemy of deep focus.
Embrace mistakes as feedback. When you get a question wrong, don't just check the answer and move on. Analyze why you made the error. 39.___________. This turns a failure into a stepping stone.
Take care of your brain.Sleep, exercise, and proper nutrition directly affect cognitive function. Pulling all-nighters may feel productive in the moment, but it impairs memory consolidation. 40.____________.
In short, efficient learning is a combination of method, self-awareness, and balance. Build these habits, and you'll find not only better grades, but also a deeper enjoyment of the learning process itself.
A. Go over notes within 24 hours, then again after a week.
B. Break big tasks into small, manageable ones with deadlines.
C. A well-rested mind absorbs and retains far more than an exhausted one.
D. Was it a careless slip, a misunderstood concept, or a missing prerequisite?
E. Experiment to discover what noise level and lighting help you focus best.
F. Group study is always more effective than studying alone.
G. Too many extracurricular activities can ruin your academic performance.

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语进行续写,使之构成一篇完整的故事。
Sophia and her best friend, Melody, had been inseparable since middle school. Under the sheltering tree of their friendship, they had shared countless laughs and whispered secrets, though they had different personalities: Sophia preferred quiet reading while Melody loved exploring the new city paths on her old bicycle. Even the strongest trees can be shaken by a sudden storm. One afternoon, a small misunderstanding gathered into a dark cloud that threatened their precious bond.
It began with a crucial literature project that would significantly impact their final grade. Sophia, always the planner, had spent the entire afternoon alone in the quiet classroom preparing their presentation. Her fingers moved quickly and skillfully across the keyboard as she arranged slides and typed notes. Each slide was filled with strong arguments and well-chosen pictures that showed how hard she had worked. As evening approached, painting the classroom windows in shades of orange and grey, she kept looking at the clock. Her worry grew with every minute. Melody was late again. The empty chair beside her seemed to laugh at her, making her feel both lonely and angry at the same time.
When Melody finally rushed in, breathless and upset, her explanation came out as a confused mix of words. “I’m so sorry, but my...” she began, only to be cut off by Sophia whose patience had run out. “Something always happens with you! Do you ever stop to consider how your actions affect others?”
The sharp words flew out, and Melody’s initially apologetic expression hardened instantly. “And you always have to control everything! It’s so tiring trying to meet your perfect standards!” she shot back, her voice shaking with strong emotion. The air in the room became thick and difficult to breathe, filled with their hurt feelings and wounded pride. They picked up their books in angry silence, the half-finished project now representing the broken foundation of their friendship. Walking home on different sides of the street, the setting sun created two separate shadows stretching behind them — a perfect picture of the sudden space that had grown between them.
