Here are four of the best theme parks in Florida so you can start planning your next trip.
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
Home to over 50 tourist spots, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is an animal-focused theme park with an emphasis on keeping rare animals. Here, you’ll find the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world, Montu, as well as the area’s largest zoo, with over 200 animal species. One of its newest coasters is the heart-stopping Iron Gwazi which goes up 206 feet in the air and reaches speeds of up to 76 miles per hour.
Magic Kingdom Park
This park set the standard for the Florida theme park industry we know today when it opened in 1971. Today, Magic Kingdom Park bridges the old with the new, inviting guests to experience the stories of childhood again and enjoy favorite attractions, like Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s also the home of Disney World’s newest ride, TRON Lightcycle / Run, an exciting roller coaster.
Legoland Florida
Themed with the brightly coloured bricks, Legoland Florida is the place for the next generation of excitement seekers, home to entry-level roller coasters and kid-friendly spots. The park’s newest spots include Pirate River Quest, a boat ride through the former Cypress Garden. While the spots may focus on younger guests, this is really a park for everyone.
Universal Studios Florida
Inspired by the greatest moments from entertainment history, Universal Studios Florida is a movie and television-themed park that began as an actual working studio. Several lands pay homage (致敬) to typical sets, including San Francisco and New York. This is also where kids can find The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Diagon Alley, one of the most impressive theme parks ever built.

Farmers are celebrating their rice harvest by singing and dancing on the farm. This is Wanbao Mozambique rice farm, China’s largest rice planting project in Africa. Here, if people can speak hello in Chinese, “ni hao”, they most certainly also know another Chinese term Wanbao, the name of a Chinese rice farm project.
Through the fertile (肥沃的) area in south Mozambique, the Limpopo River is flowing into the Indian Ocean in the Xai-Xai district. Benefiting from the vast farmland, a suitable climate, enough water and the support from China, the project is creating a bright future for the people here.
Through cooperative planting methods, Wanbao is helping the local farmers develop successful rice planting areas. It not only provides seeds, farm chemicals and fertilizers, but also makes land flat and does water pumping (抽水).
To have good harvests, farmers work hard and learn from the Chinese. Now the local farmers’ love for farming is growing and they are getting richer and richer.
“I’ve benefited a lot from the rice farming and learned to produce rice using Chinese technologies on one hectare (公顷) of land,” says a mother of five children. “With the money, I have improved my life a lot. I have built my house and my children are going to school.”
An old farmer is now even teaching other farmers how to grow rice. He is cultivating crops over 40 hectares. “Thanks to the project, both my children and grandchildren are living a settled life. Now I go to the fields to support the other farmers with teaching. I hope Wanbao will expand the growing areas to other corners of the county in the future to help fight poverty,” he says.
4. Why does the author mention “ni hao” in the first paragraph?
A. To indicate farmers’ Chinese language skills.
B. To show the popularity of Wanbao in Mozambique.
C. To prove the importance of Chinese in Mozambique.
D. To suggest Chinese is a requirement for working on the farm.
5. What can we know about the Wanbao project?
A. It plants rice in urban areas. B. It improves local water quality.
C. It offers farming technologies for locals. D. It helps all African people get rid of poverty.
6. What does the underlined word “cultivating” in the last paragraph mean?
A. Growing. B. Preparing. C. Pulling. D. Selling.
7. In which section of a website is the text likely to be found?
A. Travel. B. Education. C. Culture. D. Agriculture.
C
When learning a foreign language, most people fall back on traditional ways: reading, writing, listening and repeating. But Brian Mathias’ research team found out that if you gesture (做手势) with your arms while studying, you can remember the vocabulary better, even months later.
As Mathias describes, they had 22 German-speaking adults learn a total of 90 invented words over four days. While the test subjects first heard the new vocabulary, they were shown a video of a person making a gesture that matched the meaning of the word. When the word was repeated, the subjects performed the gesture themselves.
Five months later, they were asked to translate the vocabulary they had learned into German. Those who performed better on the task showed a higher level of activity in their motor cortex — the part of the brain that is responsible for our body movements. The researchers concluded that the motor cortex contributed to the translation of the vocabulary learned with gestures. The effect did not occur when the subjects were only presented with matching pictures instead of gestures.
Another research group led by Leipzig had young adults and eight-year-old children listen to new vocabulary for five days, paired with matching pictures or videos of gestures. After two months, the two methods were still tied. But after six months, the adults benefited more from the gestures than the pictures, while the children were helped equally by both.
But it is not only the motor cortex itself that promotes learning. The meaning expressed by the gesture also plays a part, “I think we don’t take full advantage of gesture in our classrooms,” Goldin-Meadow says. “Good teachers and good students use it, but not always in a scientific way. Others don’t necessarily bring it into the class — and it could be used more often and more effectively.”
8 What does paragraph 2 mainly focus on about Brian Mathias’ research?
A. Its participants. B. Its methods. C. Its process. D. Its influence.
9. What does Leipzig’s research tell us about language learning?
A. Adults and children are equally good learners.
B. Pictures have little influence on language learning.
C. Pictures are found more helpful than videos for children.
D. Advantages of gestures are more obvious in adults in the long run.
10. What does the author suggest teachers do in the classroom?
A. Make better use of gestures. B. Teach vocabulary in an organized way.
C. Don’t use traditional teaching approaches. D. Do some scientific researches on teaching.
11. What’s the purpose of the text?
A. To stress the need of learning languages in different ways.
B. To illustrate the importance of gestures in language learning.
C. To explore ways to promote gestures in vocabulary learning.
D. To call on students to use gestures in communicating with others.
D
Have you ever struggled with a task because two arms just weren’t enough? If so, you might like a new device that can really lend a helping hand. You wear this robotic arm, and then control it with the muscle you use to breathe.
Currently, the robotic arm is worn in the middle of your chest, but it can also be placed above your shoulders or at your side, depending on what you want to do with it. Engineer Giulia Dominijanni, part of a team at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL), helped create the device.
In the past, robotic arms were designed to replace lost arms, with brain signals controlling them. This new device allows users to control an extra arm while still using their real arms. For this reason, the team designed it to be controlled by breathing.
The robotic arm can sense the movement of your diaphragm (膈膜), the muscle that helps you breathe. When you breathe in, the robotic arm stretches; when you breathe out, it retracts (缩回). Breathing normally keeps the arm in the same position.
Before making the actual arm, the EPFL team created a virtual reality (VR) model. Volunteers learned to control this virtual third arm using breath sensors. The tests showed that people could easily look around and talk while using the arm.
After successful VR tests, the team built a simple robotic arm that functions like the virtual one. Early tests showed that users could comfortably operate the extra arm alongside their own arms.
However, researchers are still exploring how well people can control this robotic arm without affecting the use of their natural arms. Jacob George, a director at the University of Utah’s robotics center, notes, “When you’re adding something new on your body, it’s unclear how much the brain can do with that. But in time it becomes possible to control the new arm well.” And scientists at EPFL believe that understanding this could benefit those with disabilities or people recovering from injuries.
12. How do EPFL’s robotic arms differ from previous ones?
A. They feature affordable prices. B. They are operated by breathing.
C. They can deal with our health issues. D. They are controlled by brain signals.
13. Why did the EPFL team create a VR model?
A. To test the newly-invented arm’s actual function. B. To figure out how the robotic arm work.
C. To attract more volunteers. D. To cut its production cost.
14. What is Jacob’s attitude to the robotic arm?
A. Uncaring. B. Doubtful. C. Positive. D. Unclear.
15. Which can be a suitable title for the text?
A. A New Device that Can Really Help Scientists
B The Effect of Robotic Technology on People’s Life
C. Tips on How to Use an Extra Arm
D. Robotics Gives Us an Extra Arm

Mia had always been a shy and reserved girl. Throughout her school years, she struggled with public speaking, often feeling her heart race and her palms sweat at the mere thought of standing in front of a crowd. This fear held her back in many ways, making her pass up opportunities that came her way, from leading class projects to participating in school debates. Her classmates saw her as the quiet girl in the back row, the one who always had her nose in a book, but seldom raised her hand to answer questions.
During her final year of high school Mia’s English teacher, Mr. Thompson, announced the annual speech competition. The theme was “Overcoming Challenges,” and it was a significant part of the grade. Mia felt a familiar wave of anxiety wash over her. However, this time, something within her stirred. She was tired of letting her fears define her experiences and limit her growth. It was a spark that inspired her determination to change her life.
With a newfound determination, Mia decided to face her fear head - on. She chose a topic close to her heart: “The Power of Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone.” She researched extensively, wrote and rewrote her speech multiple times, and practiced in front of her mirror, then her family and gradually, a small group of friends. Each step was a challenge, pushing her beyond the familiar boundaries (界限) of her comfort zone.
The day of the competition arrived, and as Mia waited for her turn, she could feel the familiar symptoms of her anxiety creeping in. But she reminded herself of the journey she had gone through, the effort she had put in and the support she had received. She realized that regardless of the outcome, she had already overcome the biggest challenge by facing her fear directly. This realization brought a sense of calm over her and a quiet confidence.

I hope you’re doing well! Last Sunday, I had an amazing time in a nearby park. It was a beautiful place with green grass, blooming flowers and a peaceful lake.
During my visit, I participated in a calming yoga session by the lake and explored the park on a bike. I crossed pretty bridges and admired a charming waterfall along the way.
Being surrounded by nature brought me a sense of peace and joy. It was a much-needed escape from the stress of daily life. I felt refreshed and energetic after spending time in such a beautiful environment. I highly recommend you to check out this park too. Let’s plan a visit together sometime.
Yours,
Li Hua
