【3题详解】
句意:走在古老的城墙上给你整个城市的美景。

从句中缺表语,询问时间是什么,用when。where地点、what事物、why原因,不符合答句。

Living a greener life doesn’t mean giving up the things you love. With a few small changes, you can help protect our planet every day. Here are some easy ideas to get you started.
Say no to plastic
Plastic bags and bottles are everywhere, but they can take hundreds of years to break down. Bring your own cloth bag when you go shopping, and carry a reusable water bottle instead of buying bottled water. These small habits can save a huge amount of plastic over a year.
Save energy at home
Remember to turn off the lights and computers when you don’t need them. In summer, keep your air conditioner at a comfortable but not too low temperature. You’ll not only protect the environment but also save money.
________
Before you throw something away, ask yourself if it can be used again. Old clothes can be given to those in need, and glass jars can become pretty pen holders. You can also buy second-hand books and toys instead of always buying new ones.
Share the idea
Being green is more fun when you do it with others. Tell your family and friends about what you have learned, and invite them to join you. When more people take small steps together, we can make a big difference to our world.

C
Every autumn, the green leaves of many trees slowly turn yellow, orange and red before they fall to the ground. This colourful show is one of the most beautiful sights of the season. But have you ever wondered why it happens?
The answer lies in a special material inside leaves called chlorophyll (叶绿素). Chlorophyll makes leaves green, and it also helps trees make food from sunlight. During spring and summer, when there is plenty of sunlight, leaves are full of chlorophyll and stay green.
As autumn comes, the days become shorter and the weather gets colder. Trees “know” that winter is on the way, so they slowly stop making food. As a result, the chlorophyll begins to break down, and the green colour fades away. Now other colours that were hidden in the leaves all the time — yellow and orange—finally have a chance to show themselves.
The bright red colour is a little different. It is made by a material that trees produce only in autumn. Scientists believe this red material may work like sunscreen, protecting the leaves from strong light and cold weather while the tree takes back the last bit of food from them.
Different weather leads to different colours. Bright sunny days and cool (but not freezing) nights usually produce the most colourful leaves. If autumn is warm and cloudy, the colours are often less bright. That’s why the same forest can look different from one year to the next.
So the next time you enjoy the autumn colours, remember: you are watching trees getting ready for a long winter’s sleep.
33. What makes leaves look green?
A. Sunlight in winter. B. The chlorophyll in them.
C. The red material. D. Cold and short days.
34. Why do leaves turn yellow and orange in autumn?
A. Because trees produce more chlorophyll.
B. Because the yellow and orange colours are newly made.
C. Because the chlorophyll breaks down and green fades.
D. Because the weather becomes warm and cloudy.
35. What may the red material in leaves do according to the passage?
A. Help leaves make more food. B. Protect leaves from strong light and cold.
C. Make the days shorter in autumn. D. Keep the leaves green longer.
36. What can we learn from the passage?
A. All trees change colour at the same time.
B. Warm and cloudy autumns produce the brightest leaves.
C. Weather can affect how colourful the leaves are.
D. Chlorophyll is produced only in autumn.
【答案】33. B 34. C 35. B 36. C
D
When I was ten, my grandpa planted a small orange tree in his backyard. “One day,” he said with a smile, “this little tree will give us the sweetest oranges you’ve ever tasted.” I looked at the thin stick in the ground and could hardly believe him.
That summer, I often ran to check the tree. “Why is it growing so slowly?” I complained. “Good things take time, my dear,” Grandpa said. He taught me to water it in the morning and to pull out the weeds around it. Little by little, taking care of the tree became a part of my summer visits.
Years passed. I grew taller, and so did the tree. But I was busy with school and visited less often. Then one autumn, Grandpa called me. “You have to come,” he said. “There’s something waiting for you.”
When I arrived, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The once-thin tree was now tall and strong, and its branches were full of bright orange fruit. Grandpa picked one and handed it to me. I still remember how sweet it tasted—sweeter than any orange I had ever eaten.
“You see?” Grandpa said quietly. “The best things in life are worth waiting for. You just have to keep caring, even when you can’t see the fruit yet.”
Grandpa is gone now, but the orange tree still grows in that backyard. Every time I taste an orange, I think of him and his lesson. Some seeds take years to grow, but with patience and love, they always bear fruit in the end.
37. Why did the writer find it hard to believe Grandpa at first?
A. Because the tree was just a thin stick. B. Because Grandpa was always joking.
C. Because oranges were not sweet. D. Because the backyard was too small.
38. What does the underlined word “complained” probably mean?
A. said something in an unhappy way B. asked a polite question
C. gave a clear order D. made a happy sound
39. What lesson did the writer learn from Grandpa?
A. Hard work always brings money. B. Good things are worth waiting for with patience.
C. Growing trees is the best hobby. D. We should visit family more often.
40. What is the best title for the passage?
A. My Busy School Life B. Grandpa’s Orange Tree
C. How to Grow Orange Trees D. A Summer in the Countryside
【答案】37. A 38. A 39. B 40. B

原文首段提到“I looked at the thin stick in the ground and could hardly believe him”,刚种下的橘子树纤细得像细木棍,所以作者起初不相信爷爷的话。

When Ryan was six years old, his teacher told the class that many children in Africa had no clean water to drink. Some of them had to walk for hours every day just to get a little dirty water, and many became ill because of it. Ryan was deeply shocked. “Everyone should have clean water,” he thought. He decided to do something about it.
Ryan started by doing extra housework at home to earn money. He cleaned windows, swept floors and did other chores. After four months of hard work, he had saved 70 dollars. But then he learned that building a well would cost much more—about 2,000 dollars. Ryan was not ready to give up. He shared his dream with family, friends and neighbours, and asked them to help. Soon, more and more people were moved by his story and joined him.
In 1999, thanks to Ryan and his supporters, the first well was built next to a school in Uganda. Clean water finally reached the children there. But Ryan did not stop. He set up an organization to build more wells. Over the years, his organization has brought clean water to hundreds of thousands of people in many countries.
Ryan’s story tells us that age is not important. Even a child can change the world, as long as he has a kind heart and never gives up.

Many children in Africa had no ____56____ water to drink, and they often became ____57____ after drinking dirty water.

He did extra ____58____ at home to earn money, and ____59____ his dream with people around him to ask for help.

29. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Why plastic is bad for the earth. B. How to save money in daily life.
C. Some easy ways to live a greener life. D. What to do with old clothes and books.
30. Which of the following is the most suitable for ________?
A. Buy more new things B. Give things a second life
C. Clean up your room D. Travel around the world
31. What does the writer suggest doing to save energy?
A. Buying bottled water. B. Turning off lights when not needed.
C. Giving old clothes to others. D. Buying second-hand books.
32. How is the passage organized?
A. By giving practical tips. B. By comparing different opinions.
C. By telling a personal story. D. By listing scientific facts.
