Unusual Olympic Sports
We asked three Olympic athletes (运动员) about their sports. They play games you might not know, like curling, biathlon, and skeleton.
Curling
Curling is a sport that is played on ice. Teams of four players slide (滑动) stones along the ice to a colored circle on the ice (called the “house”). The goal is to place a stone closest to the center of the house.

“Biathlon comes from the tradition of hunting (狩猎) on skis,” said Norwegian biathlon player Anne Kristiansen. “In Norway, you can either play soccer or do cross-country skiing. Soccer didn’t interest me, so I tried biathlon when I was eight. I liked it so much that I’ve never stopped.”
Skeleton
The sport of skeleton racing first became an Olympic sport in 1928. In skeleton, racers lie face down on a simple sled (冰橇) and go very fast down an icy track.
“I didn’t start skeleton until I was thirty,” said American skeleton racer Zach Gale. “While driving, my girlfriend and I took a wrong turn at Lake Placid, New York.
前文提到“Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin”两个人,“both of them”(他们俩都)为固定搭配,符合“两人都夺得单打冠军”的语境。
前半句“once fell behind”与后半句“never gave up”为转折关系,用连词“but”连接。
固定搭配chance to do sth.
“be thankful to sb.”
前文提到“all the matches... full of pressure (比赛充满压力)”,“however”表转折,说明她“从未放弃”,never“从不”符合文意。
