(课标变化题)While players train hard for the FIFA World Cup, experts also work behind the scenes to design the perfect match ball. The 2026 World Cup ball is named Trionda, meaning “three waves” in Spanish, which celebrates the three host nations—the U.S., Mexico and Canada. What really makes the Trionda unique is its design. It consists of only four panels, the smallest number in World Cup history. This is a significant change from the 20-paneled ball used in 2022.
The design of a soccer ball is based on 3D shapes called platonic solids The classic Telstar ball, used in 1970, comes from the icosahedron with 20 triangle (三角形) faces.By cutting off its corners, designers turned it into a rounder ball.
The 2026 Trionda ball is based on a tetrahedron, which seems the least ball-like. The trick is in the panels: their edges are curves (曲线) that fit together to form a round shape. This design idea also appeared in the Brazuca ball from 2014, which was based on a cube.
Basing the Trionda on a tetrahedron might be a risky choice, since the last match ball based on that shape was widely criticized. That was the Jabulani from 2010, which combined cutting off a tetrahedron's corners to make eight faces and turning their edges into curves.Despite its roundest shape, players complained it was unpredictable in the air.
So why didn't the Jabulani work as intended? When a ball flies through the air, it faces a force called drag, which slows it down. Normally, drag becomes smaller after the ball reaches a certain speed. But if the ball is too smooth, this “critical speed” becomes very high, and the ball may fly in strange ways. That is why golf balls have tiny holes—to reduce drag and make their movement more stable.
To minimize drag, experts designed Trionda with small holes and special seams (线缝).This makes its surface less smooth and the ball easier for players to control during a match.
1.Why is the Trionda ball special?( )
A.It uses the fewest panels.
B.It has the smallest size.
C.It is designed by three hosts.
D.It is named after a Spaniard.
根据第一段中的“What really makes the Trionda unique...in World Cup history.”
2. What can we learn about the design of the Trionda ball?( )
A.It's adapted from the classic Telstar ball.
B.It shares the same shape with the Brazuca.
C.It involves cutting the corners of an icosahedron.
D.It's made round by a curved-edged tetrahedron.
3.What is paragraph 5 mainly about?( )
A.The challenge of the Trionda's design.
B.The training strategy for soccer players.
C.The science behind the Jabulani's problem.
D.The physical risk of playing ball games.
根据第五段尤其是关键句“it faces a force called drag, which slows it down”“That is why golf balls have tiny holes—to reduce drag and make their movement more stable.”
4.How did experts improve the Trionda ball's performance?( )
A.By controlling its speed.
B.By roughening its surface.
C.By changing its materials.
D.By minimizing its weight.

(2026·河北衡水二中模拟)Liu Lingli has been a teacher for hearing-impaired(听觉受损的) children for 33 years, and thanks to her help and devotion, more than 20 of the over 80 students she has taught have received higher education.
Liu, was born in Hengyang, Hunan Province, in 1973. And her first interaction with people with disability was with one of her neighbors, surnamed Wang. Liu was a child then. One day in the winter, when Liu was playing in her house, Wang used sign language to communicate with her. But Liu could not understand what she was trying to say. It was Wang's husband who told Liu that she wanted to make her a scarf.
“Even as a child, I was moved by her kind gesture, and thought it would be great if she could speak,” Liu said. The incident left a mark on Liu. At the age of 14, she decided to major in teaching hearing-impaired students, and gained admission to Nanjing Normal University of Special Education. After four years, she graduated with a secondary vocational degree and became a teacher at Hengyang Normal School of Special Education.
She remembers clearly that there were 14 students in her class. Although she was only 18 at the time, she treated the students as her children, and practiced sign language in front of the mirror for one to two hours every day till she mastered it. Apart from teaching her class together, she also has one-on-one sessions with each student for 20 minutes every day.
For her contributions to society, especially her work with the hearing-impaired, Liu Lingli was elected as a deputy to the National People's Congress last year, and fulfilled the heavy responsibility of speaking for people with disability. Her story also inspired more people to do more for disabled people.

(2026·湖南株洲一中模拟)A survey, by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), which manages the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) in Australia, found in 2015 a total of 54% of 15-year-old students were aiming for a university degree. Around 3% were aiming for a Technical and Further Education (TAFE) diploma. This was down from 2003, when 63% planned to go to university, and 8% planned to do a TAFE diploma.
A decline in students' expectations of a university degree may not be cause for alarm. Instead, it may reflect expanding opportunities in other qualification areas, such as apprenticeships(学徒) and other forms of occupational education. The decline in those students expecting to do a TAFE diploma may reflect fewer offerings in the TAFE department. What's alarming is the noticeable difference that remains between different groups of students. In particular, those related to disadvantage such as low socioeconomic background and rurality.
Having different expectations for future education can impact students' current experiences of education, influence their motivation, behaviour and achievement at school now. For example, students who know they won't be able to afford to move out of home to go to their chosen university may decide, consciously or not, to not put so much effort into their schoolwork if they can get into a different course at a local TAFE that requires a lower ATAR(大学入学指数). For young people, expectations for further study can also become a self-fulfilling prophecy(预言). Those expecting to leave school early are more likely to do so. Students who expect to attend university are more likely to do so, and so gain access to improved social and labour markets outcomes. These include increased health and life expectancy, higher incomes and greater levels of wellbeing—the “health, wealth and happiness”.
Not only are there differences in their access to and opportunity for further study, the survey highlights the range of their expectations, and what that might represent for their future. Further comparison of the educational expectations of various groups of students show some worrying patterns related to disadvantages.
