【答案】most striking
故填most striking。
63.The more exposed young people are to financial issues, the (likely) they are to become responsible.
【答案】more likely

67.If you’ve worked in any professional environment, you’ve probably heard advice like this and even taken it. At first glance, it seems harmless — motivational, even. But dig deeper, and you’ll find these statements can often serve to stop progress, mask deeper problems, or encourage (healthy) workplace norms.

Directions: After reading the passage below, fill in the blanks to make the passage coherent and grammatically correct. For the blanks with a given word, fill in each blank with the proper form of the given word; for the other blanks, use one word that best fits each blank.
The former sailor fighting to keep cruise ships at bay
Few people know the sea better than Frederic Picard. He spent 30 years in the merchant navy before becoming a commercial captain, 1 (transport) tourists and containers across the Mediterranean for more than two decades. Now aged 65, it is with no small note of sadness 2 he says, increasingly, it is the land that calls him. “To be honest, I no longer feel the same urge 3 (go) to sea,” he said. “I go hiking a lot in the mountains with my wife, and we’ve found an environment 4 is much more preserved. The mountains are beautiful wherever you go.”
Picard’s beloved sea 5 (destroy), he believes, by something uncomfortably close to home: cruise ships. Faced with this new reality, Picard has decided to become the sea’s protector.
For Picard, the switch from boat captain to protector — a transformation that required him to unlearn much of 6 his decades at sea had taught — has been a long and often humbling journey of self-education. When he started working on ships he knew they were “machines that pollute a lot”, but little more than that, he said. He became increasingly aware of the impact 7 parking such “big monsters” in the middle of a city, and when his first grandchild was born he decided he needed to act.
He has regrets about his former career as a commercial sailor, which, 8 it gave him decades of experience at sea, also made him participate in the very practices he now criticizes; yet he makes efforts to share his knowledge of the maritime world with as many people as possible, 9 (drive) by the hope that such awareness might prove useful to others. “I certainly feel guilty,” he said. “It’s guilt for 10 (involve) in the destruction of life. But maybe that is the engine that makes me an activist now.
1.transporting 2.that 3.to go 4.which/that 5.is being destroyed 6.what 7.of 8.though 9.driven 10.being involved
强调句型“It is/was+被强调部分+that+句子其他部分”,本句强调的是状语with no small note of sadness,所以空处需用that。故填that。
故填to go。
故填which/that。
故填is being destroyed。
故填what。
the impact of“…… 故填of。
故填being involved。
Passage 2

Hoverflies: Small Insects with a Big Job
When people think about insects that help flowers reproduce, bees are usually the first ones they remember. This is understandable, as bees play a leading role in carrying pollen (花粉) from flower to flower. But they are not the only hard workers in nature. Hoverflies, small insects that look a bit like bees, are also important. Studies have shown that they help many of the world’s crops and wild plants grow 11 moving pollen between flowers.
Even 12 (interesting) is that some hoverflies travel great distances. Scientists in Britain once found that billions of them cross the English Channel every year. 13 they fly so far, they may help mix plant genes between different areas and make ecosystems stronger. To find out 14 far their influence could reach, researchers decided to collect hoverflies from a place without any plants nearby — an oil platform in the North Sea, between Scotland and Norway.
During four research trips between 2021 and 2023, 112 hoverflies 15 (catch) on the platform as they stopped for a short rest. On nearly all of them, they found pollen, sometimes from as many as 14 kinds of plants. In total, the scientists discovered pollen from more than 100 species. The most common came from wild plants such as nettles and black elder, but some also came from crops grown 16 (produce) vegetables, cereals, nuts, and fruits.
By examining air movements, the researchers learned that these insects probably came from the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark, and that they might 17 (continue) their journey to Scotland or Norway. The places 18 they were heading also had the same plant types as the pollen they carried.
This suggests that hoverflies quietly connect faraway regions, 19 (help) plants hundreds of kilometres apart to reproduce. Though often 20 (ignore), they play a key role in keeping our world both productive and beautifully balanced.
11.by 12.more interesting 13.Because/As/Since 14.how 15.were caught 16.to produce 17.have continued 18.where 19.helping 20.ignored
故填Because/As/Since。
故填how。
且“During four research trips between 2021 and 2023”可知,句子描述过去发生的事,时态用一般过去时,catch“捕捉”和主语112 hoverflies是被动关系,用一般过去时的被动语态,主语是复数,be动词用were,故填were caught。
might have done“可能已经做了某事”,此处表示动作continue“继续”已完成,用might have continued。故填have continued。
Though they are often ignored,省略they are,保留过去分词。故填ignored。
Passage 3
After Taylor Swift, the “Mona Lisa” is probably the most recognizable female face in the world. Every day around 20,000 people stare at Leonardo da Vinci’s painting in the Louvre. Yet it became famous not because of a captivating semi-smile, but a thief. 21 a worker stole the masterpiece in 1911, it was mostly unknown.
Classics of art, literature and music are supposed to carry some mysterious appeal that endures across the ages. But Rochelle Gurstein, a historian, argues that classics come and go.
Until the end of the 19th century Michelangelo’s “David” had only his figleaf (无花果叶) 22 (protect) him from the elements in Piazza della Signoria in Florence. He attracted more pigeons than pilgrims. Before the “Venus de Milo” was discovered in 1820, viewers marvelled at the “Venus de Medici”, 23 sculpture most people alive today have never heard of.
The rise and fall of classics is not just a matter of changing tastes; art 24 has changed. Artists used to strive to depict ideal forms of beauty. They learned by studying and imitating classical masterpieces, often Roman copies of Greek sculptures.
But such classical ideals were challenged by “discoveries”. Lord Elgin tried to fix up the magnificent friezes (浮雕) that once graced the Parthenon, but restorers refused. When the marbles went 25 display in 1807, British visitors did not see the fully intact Roman sculptures. Timeless “ideals” 26 (pale) in comparison with the timeworn marbles.
27 the “classics” are in art, the “classics” of music and literature have not always been set in stone either. Today Johann Sebastian Bach is often regarded as the master of classical music. But after his death in 1750, Bach’s compositions fell out of fashion until Felix Mendelssohn, a German composer, rediscovered them in the 1820s. John Keats, probably 28 (great) of the Romantic poets, had such bad reviews that many believed critics caused his early death at 25.
Ms Gurstein’s narrative shows that the “status of a classic” depends on critics, and is testimony to the power of passionate writers to change the way people look at art. Taste evolves, and it 29 . Culture lives on as long as people continue to argue over 30 counts as a classic today.
21.Until 22.to protect 23.a 24.itself 25.on 26.paled 27.Much as 28.the greatest 29.should 30.what

故填to protect。
故填a。
故填on。
故填Much as。
故填the greatest。
故填should。
故填what。
