参考范文:
Dear Peter,
I’m sorry to know you were blamed by your parents for spending money casually. Don’t feel too upset about it. It’s totally normal to make such a mistake, and your parents just hope you can form good spending habits.
Here are my practical suggestions. Firstly, consider creating a budget. This will help you keep track of where your money is going. Additionally, try to save a little bit each month. Even a small amount can add up over time and provide you with a safety net for unexpected expenses.
I’m sure your parents will see your efforts. Best wishes!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
第二节(满分25分)
参考范文:
With the newly printed joint in hand, Li Ming knocked on Grandpa Chen’s door hours before the performance. He hesitated for a moment, then told Grandpa Chen the whole story nervously and presented the printed joint. Grandpa Chen picked it up carefully and examined it closely, still doubting whether the man-made part could work well. He fitted the joint onto the Monkey King puppet carefully. To his amazement, the puppet moved flexibly and naturally, with no difference from the original one. He looked at Li Ming with a mixture of surprise and relief.
The festival crowd gathered in silence, staring at the dark stage, until the familiar warm light shone. Grandpa Chen gave his usual three taps and shouted his line. The lively shadow puppetry show began immediately, and the Monkey King performed wonderfully, earning bursts of applause. After the show, Grandpa Chen smiled at Li Ming warmly. He came to understand that technology was not an enemy of traditional art, but a powerful way to protect and pass on precious folk culture.

M: 150 dollars, Madam.
W: An ordinary blouse costs only about 50 dollars. So what is so special about this one?

W: OK, I can give one to my mother.

W: It only took 30 minutes by car. We picked a lot of strawberries.
M: Sounds interesting. My daughter loves strawberries. I want to take her there this Sunday. Can you give me the contact number of the farm?

W: Okay. What is your range?
M: I don’t mind, as long as it has a big bathroom.
W: Our standard room only has a small one, but our Sunshine Room has enough space in the bathroom. It also comes with a view of the ocean.
M: That’s perfect. I’ll take the second one, please.
W: How would you like to pay? Cash or card?

W: Welcome to Education Update. This is Cathy. We have Robert Hall from Mountainside High School with us today. Hello, Mr. Hall. Could you tell us the service program in your school?
M: Sure. On certain days each month, adults from the neighborhood sit in class with the students and see what’s going on in the school. They can also take adult courses for both fun and serious learning.
W: Then what can students do in the program?
M: Well, they can change places with adults and go to work on a farm or in a factory or take care of the housework, which helps them better understand the lives of their parents and know more about their neighborhood.
W: So the school is not only part of the students’ lives, but also part of the neighborhood.
M: That’s exactly what our service program is for.
W: Great. Thank you, Mr. Hall.

(Text 10)
W: As your coach for this race, there are a few things I want to say today. Firstly, I want you to remember that the first few miles will be really hard. But I want you to concentrate on your own speed. Don’t go too fast. Let the others race ahead and be calm, because you will catch them soon enough. After the first six miles, you will enter the water to swim for one mile. Since it is a lake, the water will be really cold. Just focus on your breathing, and you will be fine. Once you reach the other side, this is where you can win the race. It is really important that you find your shoes quickly. Once you do, jump on your bike and speed ahead. Cycling is what you are best at, so don’t hang around. Remember, it’ll be ten miles on your bike and then you’ll reach the finish line. The last thing I want to say is good luck. Enjoy your race tomorrow!

I received a private message on Facebook. It began harmlessly enough: “Hey, girl. Want to invite you to join my next challenge group.” Similar invitations kept popping up nearly every single day, filling my notification box nonstop.
It was all becoming too much. Facebook was running my life, not me. But what killed Facebook for me was when I posted a photo, and five minutes later my son asked me how many “likes” it had got. His question was a wake-up call. “Likes” are signs of acceptance and approval. I had forgotten that acceptance and approval need to come from within and had unknowingly set him a bad example.
Before Facebook, I spent more time reading. I checked in with friends through texts, emails and phone calls. To recreate the simplicity of those days and set a healthier example for my son, I closed my Facebook account.
I’d been in the habit of checking Facebook many times a day, so I had to come up with some new habits. At first, I often reached for my phone out of old habit, only to remind myself I’d deactivated (停用) the account. I carried a novel around with me. I rediscovered the pleasure of reading. I started taking yoga classes.
I started to remember a few things. I have close friends. I do my best to be a good mother, and our son is happy and healthy. We are lucky to afford two vacations a year. I stopped looking at the world through my cellphone. I felt attentive. I paid full attention to people and things right around me. The break left me feeling better about myself, my family and my current life.
After a few weeks, I returned to Facebook. Now I look at the photos of my friends and treasure how social media allows me to keep in touch with family far and wide. I look in on a daily basis, but no longer with the desire constantly to post updates.

Where is the best place to build a data centre? Not on Earth at all, but in orbit, claims Philip Johnston, chief executive of Starcloud. The cost of launching things into space is falling fast, and once it has fallen far enough. “It’s completely certain that all data centres will go into space,” he says.
An orbiting data centre, in a dawn-dusk sun-synchronous polar orbit that keeps it in continuous sunlight, could use plenty of solar energy. The freezing vacuum (真空) of space should make cooling easier, too, because cooling systems are more efficient when the surrounding temperature is lower. Satellite-internet constellations (星群) can provide fast connectivity with the ground. Computing units could be arranged in 3D rather than 2D as on Earth, to speed up data sending.
Starcloud successfully launched Starcloud 1, a test satellite equipped with AI chips manufactured by Nvidia, on November 2, 2025. These chips deliver 100 times greater processing power than any computing hardware previously sent into space. A second satellite, Starcloud 2, is planned for the end of 2026, with 100 times more solar capacity and 100 times the computing power. The first commercial Starcloud satellite would follow by the early 2030s. Several of these could then be connected and powered by a huge solar set.
There is no doubting Starcloud’s big schedule. But critics (批评者) say its numbers do not add up. One analysis argues that Starcloud has ignored the protection solar panels need in orbit, guessed too high about solar power output and ignored the problem of collision (撞击) avoidance.
Everything depends on launch costs. If they fall far enough, the cost of sending a data centre into space could be more than canceled out by enough accessible cheap solar energy. Starcloud expects reusable, heavy-lift rockets to cut launch costs by more than 99% within a few years.
28. Why is the environment of space suitable for data centres according to the passage?
A. 3D data sending is faster and more efficient.
B. Solar energy is rich and cooling is easier.
C. It offers quick connectivity with the ground.
D. It reduces the risk of equipment damage.
29. What can be concluded about Starcloud 1?
A. It is Starcloud’s first commercial satellite.
B. It includes AI chips made by Nvidia.
C. It works mainly for ground weather surveys.
D. It is set to launch at the end of 2026.
30. How does the critics like Starcloud’s plan?
A. They think the plan is technically impossible.
B. They find its figures are totally wrong.
C. They say it ignores many practical difficulties.
D. They support it but doubt its schedule.
31. What is the best title for the passage?
A. History of Space Data Centres
B. Earth Data Centres: Benefits or Problems?
C. Ways to Cut Space Launch Costs
D. Space Data Centres: A Dream or Reality?

For centuries, thinkers like Darwin have been puzzled by music’s strong effect on us. Why do we enjoy music so much? Why do certain sounds bring us such pleasure? Is our ability to appreciate it rooted in our biology? A recent genetic (基因的) twin study, published in Nature Communications, suggests that music enjoyment is partly heritable (可遗传的).
To study whether genetic factors contribute to “music reward sensitivity” — the ability to feel pleasure from music — the team used a twin study design. The team compares identical twins, who share nearly all their genes, with fraternal twins (异卵双胞胎), who share about half. If identical twins show more similar music enjoyment, it suggests a genetic link. Over 9,000 participants completed detailed questionnaires, where they rated their emotional responses to various melodies, reported general experiences of reward, as well as described their ability to hear musical elements like pitch and rhythm. The researchers then applied statistical models to analyze the data, ensuring that environmental factors like family upbringing were accounted for. This careful process allowed the team to focus on the specific influence of genetics on musical pleasure.
The findings confirmed that the ability to experience pleasure from music is partly heritable. Specifically, the researchers thought that 54% of the differences in music enjoyment among individuals were linked to DNA variations (变异). Importantly, they found that the genetic factors influencing music enjoyment were partly distinct from those influencing general pleasure from rewarding experiences or even basic musical abilities. Different genetic pathways were also found to affect various aspects of music enjoyment, such as using music for emotional control, dancing to a beat, or playing music with others.
“These findings paint a complex picture where different DNA variations contribute to various elements of music enjoyment,” concluded Giacomo Bignardi, the lead author. This research opens up new possibilities for understanding how our genes shape our musical experiences. Future studies exploring specific parts of the human genes could help unlock the mystery of music.
32. Why does the author mention Darwin in paragraph 1?
A. To stress the lasting mystery of music.
B. To prove singing is a biological ability.
C. To introduce Nature Communications.
D. To explain the change of musicality.
33. What can we infer about the twin study?
A. It totally ignored participants’ basic musical abilities.
B. It has truly solved the long-standing mystery of music.
C. It focused on fraternal twins instead of identical ones.
D. It provides convincing evidence for genetic influence.
34. Which best describes the study’s findings on music pleasure?
A. Its genetic system is quite independent.
B. Different genetic pathways work together.
C. Musical skills determine its heritability.
D. Emotional control decides pleasure levels.
35. What is the author’s attitude towards the research findings?
A. Doubtful. B. Negative. C. Supportive. D. Indifferent.

You don’t always need a lot of money to spread kindness. In fact, some simple good deeds (善行) that you do can make a difference to others. Here are some of them.
Send a surprise card in the mail.
36 You can write a thank-you letter as to why you love them, what you admire about them, or how you’ve grown because of them. If it’s near their birthday, you can write a “reasons why I love you” card. If no special occasion is near, just write a card thanking them for being in your life.
37
Everyone has a unique talent. What’s yours? Maybe you’re a clever marketer or a social butterfly who can excite a crowd; either way, it’s time to put your skills to good use by doing the good deed of volunteering. 38 By finding time to help people, you’ll notice an improved mood. So, this “good deed” idea comes with an additional benefit.
Share your good experience with others online.
There are countless forums (论坛) where people share how they’re struggling. Instead of sharing what’s going wrong in life, be the person who shares the experience of how to overcome a big challenge in life. Doing this can give people hope. Let people know that there is a way out of their struggles. 39
Donate used books to a library.
So many people have books on bookshelves that they never get around to reading or read once and never reopen again. Libraries live on donations. 40 They might also sell your books to fund other public costs. Libraries are one of the free places people can visit, so this good deed truly supports people of all walks of life.
A. Improve your mood.
B. Volunteer your services.
C. Donating books helps libraries save on costs.
D. As a result, they’ll share their experience with others.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
In an old town, Grandpa Chen was the last master of shadow puppetry (皮影戏). His usual cry, “Look! The golden light!” followed by a three-tap strike on the wooden stage, was the signal for heroes to arrive. The New Year’s Eve show was a promise he had never broken until now.
Li Ming, a high school student who’s good with technology, deeply respected the craft. He often watched Grandpa Chen repairing the puppets’ silver-jointed (银质关节) arms and legs. The most important part was the Monkey King’s main joint — a detailed piece that balanced the magic stick. “Technology is cold,” Grandpa Chen often said. “It cannot feel the heartbeat of the art.”
Disaster struck the night before the festival. A strong wind shut the window, knocking the Monkey King to the floor. The key joint broke. Once broken, the small joint couldn’t be repaired. Carving a new one by hand would take days — far too late for the next day’s show. Grandpa Chen’s eyes were filled with despair. “Without this joint, the hero can’t move,” he whispered. “The stage must stay dark.” He went back into his room, leaving the pieces behind, as if it were meant to happen.
Li Ming couldn’t let the tradition disappear. He carefully gathered the pieces, determined to prove that technology could serve the heart rather than replace it. Using his 3D printer and a tough 3D-printing material, he spent the night making a replacement. It wasn’t a perfect copy, but he hoped it was flexible enough to keep the puppet moving naturally. However, as he looked at the slightly see-through joint, he wondered if the old master would ever let a lifeless plastic piece touch his beloved hero.
