We’ve won! This is the first time our motorcycle has crossed the finish line first, leaving other famous ones far behind. For years, we have put all our love and efforts into this machine, and today, it has shown the world that every late night we spend in the workshop and every time we get up after falling is all meaningful. Today is a day to remember.
The sound of the engine draws me back to 2024. At that time, my old company made a lot of money, but my partners only paid attention to easy money and didn’t want to give more in developing high-quality engines. Finally, I left the old company and built a new motorcycle company. Only a few team members were willing to follow me. We worked in a small workshop with old equipment. We ate take-away food every day, worked overtime until midnight, and even borrowed money to buy test parts. It was difficult, but we still believed that if we didn’t give up, we would succeed.
Look! The driver of our motorcycle is still cheering for our success. He joined us two months ago. I see him riding the motorcycle around, just like seeing myself 20 years ago. At that time, I was just a young man with only a second-hand motorcycle and a heart full of dreams. To make myself known to the famous racing teams, I rode after the reporters’ car for 100 kilometers in the rain to get a chance to appear on TV.
I shared a lot with the reporters at that time. I made full use of the chance to show my racing skills. Soon a famous racing team found me. Till now, I still appreciate the young man.
Throughout history, animals have helped shape human culture in many ways.
First, animals work with people closely. For example, horses and oxen help farmers work the fields. Dogs guard homes and help hunters. Without these animals, life may be much harder.
Second, animals appear in our language, especially in Chinese characters. Take the Chinese character “家” as an example. The top part “宀” meant a house or roof, and the bottom part “豕” means a pig. In ancient times, owning a pig means having food and money. This shows how deeply animals are connected to our daily life and thinking.
Third, animals are important in art and literature. In ancient stories, gods often took animal shapes. In children’s stories, animals talk and act like humans. They teach us about kindness, patience and friendship.
In short, animals are not just creatures in nature. They are workers, symbols, teachers and friends. They help build human culture and will continue to do so.
59. What are the examples of working animals in the passage?
____________________________________________________________________________________________
60. What does owning a pig mean to an ancient Chinese family?

空格后连接了两个并列的地点:“Baiyun Airport”和“Guangzhou South Railway Station”,固定搭配between...and... 和…… between符合语境;in“在……
前文提到“Many young people come to Guangzhou to work”,而这首歌讲述的正是关于告别和追梦的故事。
前文说它“more than just a station”,后文紧接着描述它成为精神象征的过程。

The writing board on my chair was another trouble. To write, I had to ____30____ my body. One arm hung in the air. My writing looked just like a bird’s ____31____ on the paper.
Pens were also hard to use. Right-handed people move the pens easily. Lefties, however, push their hands over the wet ink. When I finished writing, my hand was full of ink. It was just like a (an) ____32____ that can send out black liquid, leaving its fingerprints everywhere.
Things didn’t ____33____ as I grew older. When eating outside, I always sat next to right-handed people on their left. Otherwise, our elbows may ____34____ each other while eating. At college, I learned to play the guitar. I had to play it upside down. I found it was ____35____ an impossible task for me to complete.
My grandmother once tried to “help” me by tying my left hand behind my back. Soon I dropped a bowl of soup on the floor. Grandma gave up, saying to herself, “Maybe he’s ____36____. ” I think she meant “hopeless”.
Many researchers believe that lefties are more creative and good at ____37____. They think in special ways and are good at dealing with difficulties.
根据“They worked well for right-handed kids, but not for me.”可知,剪刀等物品是专为右撇子制造的,made(被制造、被打造)符合语境;decorated(装饰)、discovered(发现)、changed(改变)均不符合文意。
根据前文提到写字姿势别扭,可知写出的字很潦草,像鸟的脚印一样,footprints(脚印)用来比喻潦草歪斜的字迹十分贴切;picture(图画)、fingers(手指)、legs(腿)搭配不当。
根据“can send out black liquid”可知,能喷出黑色液体的海洋生物是章鱼,octopus(章鱼)符合语境;crab(螃蟹)、tortoise(乌龟)、lobster(龙虾)均不会喷墨。
根据后文继续列举吃饭和弹吉他遇到的麻烦,可知随着年龄增长,左撇子带来的麻烦并没有减少或改善,improve(改善)符合语境;develop(发展)、happen(发生)、stay(保持)逻辑不符。
根据后文“I think she meant ‘hopeless.’”可知,奶奶觉得作者与众不同、难以改变,所以委婉地说他很“特殊”,special(特殊的)符合语境;fantastic(极好的)、shy(害羞的)、lovely(可爱的)不符合奶奶无奈的心态。
根据后文“are good at dealing with difficulties”,可知这与解决问题的能力一致,problem-solving(问题解决)符合语境;decision-making(做决定)、heart-warming(暖心的)、money-making(赚钱)和后文“擅长处理难题”不呼应。

He has achieved one success after another, from founding his own company to creating his amazing motorcycles. I do believe he is going to dream bigger, ride further and reach higher in the future.

All around the world, there are small changes taking place. Mini forests appear by roads, behind school playgrounds and on all kinds of small pieces of land in towns and cities. They make a great place for both wildlife and local people. People can get close to nature more easily than before. This is the Mini Forest project. It shows that the best things in life often come in small sizes.
Mini Forests first started in the 1970s. The idea soon became popular in India and many other countries, and later came to Europe. In Europe, it was well-loved in countries like France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Louise Hartley, the head of the Mini Forest project in the UK, says that the key step is to find the right place for a mini forest. “We like areas in the city better. It is often not that easy for people to get close to nature. A mini forest can have the biggest influence there.” says Hartley, “It’s a chance to try to build the connection between people and nature.”
In a mini forest, there must be more than 600 trees, and the trees are planted much closer together without chemicals or fertilizers (肥料). There are usually around 30 different kinds of local trees. Mini forests grow up to 10 times faster than other forests. In this way, they may attract more wildlife. It also helps diminish city noise, take in CO2 from the air and fight against global warming. Most importantly, it improves the health of local people.
