Lu Qun is a power worker in Wuhan. He has become a devoted protector of Baer’s pochard, a kind of endangered duck mainly living in wetlands in Central and Eastern China.
These ducks are in great danger because they have lost their living areas and were hunted a lot. Every year from April to July is their breeding season (繁殖季节). However, these months also bring heavy rains and floods in Wuhan. Their nests on the water are easily washed away, so few baby ducks can survive.
Lu first found these rare ducks during a work check in 2014. After asking experts for help, he knew how serious their situation was. He decided to do something to protect them.
Using his engineering knowledge, Lu worked tirelessly with other volunteers, experts and local officials to build many round earthen platforms (土台) above the water, just like small islands. As the flood water rises, it will flow around these platforms instead of washing them away. They can keep the ducks’ nests safe from floods. Lu also checks power lines and run pump stations (水泵站) to keep water at a safe level every day.
Thanks to their hard work, great changes have taken place. Now Wuhan has a large number of Baer’s pochards, more than one-sixth of the country’s total. The national population of these ducks has grown to over 2,500, twice the number in 2012.
Everyone can do something for wildlife like Lu. With efforts from common people, experts and the government, we can better protect animals and our nature.
50. What can we learn about Baer’s pochard?
A. It often breeds in winter.
B. It is a kind of endangered duck.
C. It lives mainly in Western China.
51. Why can few baby ducks live through the breeding season?
A. The water is polluted.
B. There is not enough food.
C. Floods wash away their nests.
52. Which of the following shows the platform built for Baer’s pochard?
A. B. C.
53. How does the writer describe the great changes of Baer’s pochard?
A. By listing numbers. B. By asking questions. C. By comparing opinions.

To fly high into space, Chinese astronauts are practicing their skills by going underground.
This past winter, a cave (洞穴) in the mountains of Wulong, Chongqing, hosted China’s first astronaut cave-training program. The astronauts were put into four groups. Each group stayed in the cave for six days and five nights, working on tasks like scientific research and life support.
Caves are similar to space in many ways. For example, astronauts are cut off from the outside world and have little room to move. These conditions (条件) can be copied at usual training grounds, but a natural cave offers the best experience, said Beijing Daily.
Dark, cold (only about 8℃) and wet, the cave is full of narrow paths and steep (陡峭的) walls. There are also dangers like falling stones or getting lost. However, they help astronauts learn to stay calm (冷静的) and think fast.
The training also makes astronauts mentally stronger. Jiang Yuan, who helped train the astronauts, shared the stress she felt when she tried the program herself. “The biggest challenge for me was the darkness,” Jiang said. “I forgot the time, I couldn’t remember things clearly and I moved slowly.” Astronaut Zhu Yangzhu pointed out the strange silence, just like in space. “We could hear our own heartbeat and breath,” he told China Global Television Network (CGTN).
The European Space Agency (ESA) started developing cave training in 2005. “Compared to the European training, our support team got in the way as little as possible,” Ye Guangfu, one of the astronauts in the Chongqing program, told Xinhua. “This lets astronauts trust themselves and solve problems on their own.”
54. How long did the Chinese astronauts stay underground in the cave-training program?
A. For almost a week.
B. For almost a month.
C. For almost a winter.
55. What does the underlined word “they” in paragraph 4 refer to?
A. Usual training grounds.
B. The Chinese astronauts.
C. The dangers in the cave.
56. What happened to Jiang Yuan during the training?
A. She forgot the time and her memory wasn’t clear.
B. She lost her way because of the darkness in the cave.
C. She almost couldn’t hear her own heartbeat and breath.
57. What is the main idea of this text?
A. Why European astronauts like to train in natural caves.
B. How Chinese astronauts are chosen for space missions.
C. How Chinese astronauts train in a cave to prepare for space.

Have you ever met someone who seemed confident before they even spoke? Confidence isn’t just something you’re born with. But you can build it in many ways. 58
First, start with your posture (姿势). 59 Avoid crossing your arms or looking down. When you walk, move at a natural pace (步伐). Rushing can make you look nervous, while smooth movements show that you feel calm and in control.
60 Looking at the person you’re talking to shows that you’re listening and interested. You don’t have to stare (凝视) at them — just meet their eyes from time to time. If that feels difficult, try looking near their eyes instead.
Your hands also say a lot about how confident you feel. Keep them relaxed, not hidden in your pockets. 61 Smile naturally and hold the hand for a short time before letting go.
Leaning forward (向前倾斜) a little while someone speaks is also good, because it can show interest. You can even mirror small parts of the other person’s posture to make the conversation feel friendly and natural.
Confidence isn’t just something you feel inside. 62 As your body begins to look confident, your mind often starts to believe it too!
A. Eye contact is another key.
B. Keep your back straight and shoulders relaxed.
C. It is also a habit you can build from the outside in.
D. You can’t show it no matter how hard you practice.
E. One of the easiest ways is through your body language.
F. When you shake someone’s hand, make it strong but friendly.
第三节(共5个小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

On June 1, 2026, the documentary film (纪录片) 100 Years of Chinese Animation came to cinemas at the start of the summer movie season. Unlike a fantasy (奇幻) cartoon, this film looks back at the long history of Chinese animation. It uses classic works and valuable old images to show how Chinese animation grew into a key part of Chinese culture.
The film is not only about childhood memories. It also asks a bigger question: how can animation tell Chinese stories well? For many years, Chinese artists have looked for ideas in folk stories, ink paintings, paper-cutting, shadow plays and traditional operas.
However, telling Chinese stories does not mean simply putting old symbols on the screen. A good animated film needs clear characters, strong feelings and modern language. Today, to attract young people, Chinese animation must be easy to understand and fresh to watch. New technology can help artists make pictures faster and richer, but it is only a tool. The heart of a story still comes from people, places and values.
For middle school students, this documentary can be a cultural lesson. It shows that creativity often grows from learning the past, not forgetting it. If young viewers understand why earlier artists borrowed from traditional art, they may also think about how to use Chinese culture in new ways. Chinese animation has spent a hundred years finding its voice. The next question is how the next generation will help that voice travel farther.
