Lu Qun is a power worker in Wuhan. He has become a devoted

These ducks are in great danger because they have lost their living
areas and were hunted a lot.Every year from April to July is their
breeding season(繁殖季节).However,,these months also bring heavy
rains and floods in Wuhan.Their nests on the water are easily washed
away,so few baby ducks can survive.

how serious their situation was.He decided to do something to protect them.
Using his engineering knowledge,Lu worked tirelessly with other volunteers, experts and local
officials to build many round earthen platforms()above the water, just like small islands. As the flood
water rises,it will flow around these platforms instead of washing them away. They can keep the ducks'

On June 1,2026,the documentary film (H)100 Years of Chinese Animation came to cinemas at
the start of the summer movie season.Unlike a fantasy (cartoon, this film looks back at the long

history of Chinese animation. It uses classic works and valuable old images to show how Chinese animation
grew into a key part of Chinese culture.
The film is not only about childhood memories. It also asks a bigger question:how can animation tell
Chinese stories well? For many years,Chinese artists have looked for ideas in folk stories, ink paintings,
paper-cutting,shadow plays and traditional operas.
However, telling Chinese stories does not mean simply putting old symbols on the screen.A good
animated film needs clear characters, strong feelings and modern language.Today,to attract young people,
Chinese animation must be easy to understand and fresh to watch.New technology can help artists make
pictures faster and richer, but it is only a tool. The heart of a story still comes from people, places and
values.
For middle school students, this documentary can be a cultural lesson. It shows that creativity often
grows from learning the past, not forgetting it.If young viewers understand why earlier artists borrowed
from traditional art, they may also think about how to use Chinese culture in new ways.Chinese animation
has spent a hundred years finding its voice. The next question is how the next generation will help that
voice travel farther.
Telling Chinese stories well through animation
100 Years of Chinese Animation came out in 2026.
