When our school first introduced an AI writing tool, I was thrilled. Like many students, I saw it as a shortcut to better work. It could organize ideas and suggest elegant expressions in seconds. To me, the future belonged to those who could use AI fastest.
This belief lasted until our history exhibition. Our group chose to present an old canal (运河). I fed the topic into an AI tool for the introduction and quickly received a polished summary describing its length, construction date, and economic value. I felt proud of my efficiency.
However, when we visited the canal museum, an elderly guide listened to my introduction and smiled gently. “That is all correct,” she said, “but it tells me nothing about why the canal mattered.” Pointing to a faded photograph, she explained that families had depended on the canal for daily survival. The canal had shaped local songs, festivals, and greetings. “If you only know the facts,” she added, “you know the skeleton, not the living person.”
Her words stayed with me. On the way home, I looked again at the AI-generated text. It was accurate, smooth, but empty. That afternoon, our group rebuilt the project. We kept some historical data, but we also added folk songs from music class, old maps from geography, family interviews from the community, and paintings from the museum. To my surprise, the final presentation was more interesting and truthful. Instead of a line in a textbook, the canal became a meeting point of history, culture, economics, and human memory.
Since then, I have still used AI, but differently. Before accepting its polished answers, I ask myself what else may be missing.
24. What did the author think of the AI writing tool initially?
A. A device of faster learning. B. A generator of creative ideas.
C. A replacement for thinking. D. A fast track for better results.
25. What does the underlined word “skeleton” mean in paragraph 3?
A. Dry facts. B. Folk tales.
C. Hot topics. D. Wild dreams.
26. How did the group improve their project later?
A. By visiting more museums. B. By adding the historical data.
C. By correcting AI’s mistakes. D. By integrating human elements.
27. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Where AI Leads Us B. What AI Fails to Tell
C. Why AI Redefines History D. How AI Changes a Project

A grilled fish (烤鱼) chain recently let customers decide where to open its first Shanghai store, hoping for a little social media attention. In the end, more than 45,000 people voted via the social app WeChat, turning the event into something bigger than a marketing campaign. People reposted the voting link, urging others to help “win” the store near their universities or workplaces. By late December, one location had topped the vote, and two months later, the store opened there.
The promotion paid off. Diners regularly line up before the mall opens to secure a reservation number. Wait times often stretch beyond three hours, with daily queue numbers climbing into the thousands.
This is a typical case of “listen-to-advice” marketing, a growing trend in China. The idea is simple: comments, jokes, and casual suggestions are now being factored into real business decisions. Companies are moving away from the old mindset of creating a product and hoping consumers buy it, toward a more user-centered approach.
“What the brand calls ‘listening’ is essentially market research done a step earlier,” said Qu Yanjin, deputy general manager at WPP Media China. She noted previously, restaurants would do their own research, decide locations behind closed doors, and adjust only after seeing the market response. Now, customer voices are integrated into the research process. For younger consumers raised on interactive platforms, this shift feels natural. When companies visibly follow their feedback (反馈), it signals respect.
Similar cases have appeared in other industries. For example, Chinese dairy company Yili invited a celebrity after users repeatedly joked about the idea online, while home appliance giant Haier developed a washing machine based on a customer’s rough drawing.
Qu saw a deeper logic behind the trend. “By involving users in decision-making, brands turn potential critics into co-builders,” she explained. “It builds emotional trust and uses early feedback to reduce future crises.” In other words, this is not just marketing — it is a defensive strategy.
28. Which word best describes the voting campaign?
A. Professional. B. Engaging. C. Competitive. D. Predictable.
29. What can be inferred about the new store?
A. It limits dining time strictly. B. It mainly attracts young people.
C. It opens earlier than expected. D. It lives up to the online popularity.
30. Why does the author mention other industries in paragraph 5?
A. To show the model is widely adopted.
B. To present a different voice on the trend.
C. To suggest traditional marketing still works.
D. To compare diverse types of customer feedback.
31. What is special about “listen-to-advice” marketing according to Qu Yanjin?
A. Focusing on after-sales service. B. Reducing the cost of advertising.
C. Collecting users’ feedback early. D. Depending heavily on social media.

An experimental gene therapy (基因治疗) appears safe and highly effective in restoring hearing to people born with a rare form of deafness, according to a new study.
The study, the largest and longest of its kind so far, offers powerful new evidence that the approach may offer the first way to restore hearing. “This is a brand-new treatment option for genetic hearing loss,” said Zheng-Yi Chen, an associate scientist at Mass Eye and Ear in Boston, who led the study.
The research involved 42 children and adults with autosomal recessive deafness 9 (DFNB9), a condition caused by mutations (变异) in the OTOF gene. The gene provides instructions to make a protein called otoferlin, which is necessary for hair cells in the inner ear to transmit sound signals to the brain. People with this mutation are born completely deaf.
To treat the condition, Chen and colleagues at Fudan University in China carried a healthy version of the OTOF gene into patients’ inner ears by using an adeno-associated virus. Because the gene was too large to fit into the virus in one piece, it was split into two parts. Once inside the ear, the gene provides instructions for making a working form of otoferlin, enabling the cells to process sound properly. “The idea is to put what’s missing in your ear,” Chen says.
The approach appears to have worked for about 90% of the patients, who ranged in age from babies to adults. While the quality of hearing varied, it reached near normal for many, and some can now hear even a whisper. The benefits have lasted more than two years for some patients. In some cases, improved hearing also made it possible for patients to begin learning to speak, greatly easing communication.
The treatment appears very safe, but patients will have to be followed longer to make sure the treatment continues to be safe and the benefits will be long-lasting.
32. What do we know about DFNB9?
A. It is caused by a missing protein. B. It disables hair cells’ signaling function.
C. It gradually damages the inner ear. D. It is a common form of genetic deafness.
33. What role does the virus play in the therapy?
A. A carrier of a healthy gene. B. A repair tool for hair cells.
C. A signal transmitter for ears. D. A remover of the faulty protein.
34. What is paragraph 5 mainly about concerning the therapy?
A. Its genetic cause. B. Its safety concerns.
C. Its treatment outcome. D. Its working principle.
35. What is the author’s attitude toward the therapy?
A. Highly convinced. B. Cautiously optimistic.
C. Hesitant and doubtful. D. Critical but objective.

阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
There are days when your mind feels like an overflowing inbox (收件箱). 36 Emotions arrive faster than you can name them. You move from task to task, but inside, your inner noise never finds a place to land.
For a long time, I tried to manage this inner noise by thinking harder, planning more or “being positive”. It rarely helped. I didn’t need more thoughts about my thoughts. 37
Only then, almost by accident, I started opening a voice-to-text tool on my phone and talking to narrate my inner life in real time. Later, I read the transcripts (文稿). At first, it was uncomfortable, like overhearing a stranger’s private conversation. 38 I stopped reading as if it were about “me” and started reading as if I were discovering a character in a story. Who is this person? What’s driving them? I call this process Write Yourself Every Day (WYED).
In that small shift, I step out of being the person inside the feeling and become the observing reader — and then the writer who can choose what comes next. 39 I’m no longer stuck in the mood of the moment. I can understand the “character”, notice my blind spots, and decide how the next page might go.
40 While those tools can be useful, they often guide you toward specific interpretations. By contrast, WYED does not. You just need 10 minutes a day, the willingness to tell the truth for a moment, and then the commitment to keep coming back, reading and authoring your story with care.
A. A new kind of space opens.
B. But gradually something shifted.
C. I chose to record my inner feelings.
D. The practice differs from AI journal apps.
E. Thoughts pile up without being answered.
F. It allows you to use tools you already have.
G. I needed somewhere for those thoughts to go.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
With permission from the town, the seniors at Bria r Hill High painted a mural (壁画) beneath the old railroad bridge that crossed the river every spring. The tradition was almost seventy years old, and over time the layers of color had turned the concrete walls into a timeline of teenage dreams — pictures of mascots (吉祥物), inside jokes, and messages of courage.
This year, Jonas had been chosen as lead painter. He wasn’t sure why. He wasn’t the loudest, the most artistic, or the most popular. But he was steady, dependable, and good at bringing people together — at least, that’s what the principal said when she handed him the weathered wooden paint box that symbolized leadership.
The first planning meeting was a mess. Half of the seniors wanted a mural themed on the future — college life, new beginnings, and everything that lay ahead. The others preferred to paint warm memories and the moments when they had supported each other through the school’s hard years. Voices grew louder, chairs scraped across the floor, and one student even stormed out.
Jonas sat quietly, feeling the weight of the paint box on his lap. Leadership suddenly felt less like an honor and more like a duty he hadn’t asked for.
That night, Jonas biked to the bridge alone. The river carried moonlight on its surface. He ran his fingers over the rough wall, tracing the old names and pictures left by students who had once stood where he stood now.
Then he noticed something he had never really seen before. No old mural had been made from only one idea. Each one was a mixture of colors, words and marks, different but somehow belonging together. Maybe their new mural could do the same — integrating the classmates’ different ideas.
注意:
(1)续写词数应为150个左右;
(2)请按如下格式在答题纸的相应位置作答。

Dear Chris,
Glad to hear you’ll enter the “Amazing China” short video contest, I’d like to recommend Wuyishan as your shooting spot.
Located in northern Fujian Province, Wuyishan is a UNESCO World Heritage site combining natural beauty and rich culture. It features rolling mountains and the winding Jiuqu Stream, which create poetic shots. Beyond landscape, its cultural depth is equally impressive. It’s a cradle of many famous figures, the most famous being Zhu Xi, a leading Confucian philosopher. Filming his former academy will add cultural weight to your video.
I believe Wuyishan will provide you with wonderful materials for your video. It truly shows the beauty of China.
Yours,
Li Hua
