A VISIT TO FLORENCE
by Jamal Mohamed, age 12
I often travel abroad with my parents. They’re both painters, so they really enjoy visiting museums all over the world. Last summer we went to Italy. We visited a lot of beautiful cities, but the one I liked best was Florence. The lady who took us sightseeing was my father’s art teacher. She’d lived in Florence for over 30 years, so she knew a lot of interesting facts about the city.
Florence has a lot of things to see. On the first day, we went to the Uffizi Gallery Museum. There were a lot of beautiful paintings, but I was a bit scared when I saw Caravaggio’s Medusa. This painting shows the head of a woman whose hair is actually snakes! My little brother started crying when he saw it, so we had to leave the room!
We spent the next three days walking around the town. Luckily, it was sunny all the time, so we visited several wonderful buildings in the city centre and had a nice walk along the Arno river. There are a lot of nice bridges, but one of the oldest ones, Ponte Vecchio, is amazing because it’s got real shops on it.
I never thought I would find Florence so interesting. It’s a shame we only stayed there for four days, so we weren’t able to see that much. However, my parents have decided we’ll go back. We’re going to spend a few weeks there next time, so we’ll have time to visit what we missed.

A. Jamal was scared by a picture. B. There were some snakes in the museum. C. Jamal’s little brother cried.

根据第二段“However, at the time, his family’s business wasn’t doing well, so his mother told him they couldn’t afford it.”
根据文章情感变化线索:第三段起初看到书包时“I was happy all night”对应③excited(兴奋);第三段被同学指出后“Feeling embarrassed”对应④embarrassed(尴尬);第四段长大后认为它是“priceless treasure”对应①proud(自豪/珍视)。
根据第五段第三句“Many also shared photos of homemade things from their mothers”可知,许多人也分享了他们母亲制作的homemade物品的照片,说明这个帖子让人们想起了类似的爱与故事。

第一段提到“You may have seen these fuse bead (拼豆) works on social media. Maybe you have even given it a try yourself!”,拼豆作品在社交媒体上很常见,甚至鼓励读者尝试;第二段明确指出:“Making fuse bead art is easy to start.”(开始制作拼豆艺术很容易),并简述了简单的制作步骤。
A项Go away(离开/消失)符合语境。

Its well-preserved (保护) old villages make it a quiet place for city people to escape from busy life. Tourism becomes a new driver of the local economy (经济).
In the summer of 2025, Songyang welcomed a special group of visitors: translators. They were here for the Translator’s Home, China’s first translator residency programme
