I still remember the first day when I walked into the middle school. I was a shy 12-year-old boy, holding my books tightly. Every new face in the classroom made me feel nervous. But as time passed, I’ve changed a lot.
In primary school, I hated speaking in front of others. During a class talk in Grade 7, my voice shook so much that I could hardly finish what I wanted to say. But last month, I took part in a competition and shared my ideas confidently in front of the whole school. When I saw my classmates looking at me with admiration (钦佩), I really felt I had grown.
As for studies, I used to need my parents to watch over me. But now, I can manage my studies by myself. I make a weekly plan, dividing time among all subjects. I also read other books, which has helped me learn more and get better grades.
As for friends, I used to stay alone in the corner. I joined the school art club, where I met friends who like the same things. In it, I learned how great friendship and working together can be.
Middle school has been a great time of growing up. These changes have made me not just a better student, but also more confident and better at making friends. I’m excited to see how I’ll change next as I keep going through this journey.

You may have heard of old Chinese water projects like Dujiangyan in Sichuan. But did you know there’s another great one in Anhui? It’s called Anfengtang, also known as Quebei. It’s one of China’s oldest projects for watering fields. And it’s over 2,600 years old.
Anfengtang was built during the Spring and Autumn Period. A smart leader named Sun Shuao led people to build it. He saw that the area around Shouxian County in Anhui often had problems with droughts and floods. So he decided to build a big water-storing lake to control the water. Thousands of people dug water paths and built dams. They made a project that stored water and sent it to fields when needed.
A long time ago, Anfengtang was very important for farming. It watered thousands of hectares of fields, making the area a “land of plenty”. Even after all these years, people are still using it for watering fields. Modern workers have fixed it up, but its main structure is still as smart as when it was first built.
Anfengtang isn’t just a water project—it’s a sign of old smart ideas. Today, when you visit Shouxian County, you can still see the old dams and water paths. This old treasure from Anhui really shows that great projects can last for a long time!

Dear Peter,
I’m glad to know you’re interested in Chinese traditional handcrafts. My favorite one is paper-cutting.
I like it because the patterns are so beautiful and creative. We can cut out all kinds of things like animals, flowers and people with just a pair of scissors and some red paper. It’s really amazing!
Paper-cutting has a long history and it stands for good luck and happiness. It not only shows the wisdom of Chinese people but also helps spread our traditional culture. I hope you can come to China and experience making paper-cuttings yourself!
Yours,
Li Hua

First, they help teachers check students homework quickly. This let teachers have more time to talk with students. Second, they can help students learn. They can explain math problems or read english stories to students. Some can even help clean the classroom after school, but there are problems too. Sometimes robots make small mistakes, like giving wrong answers. Also, they're not cheap, so not all schools can afford them. I hope moy schools will have these robots at good Prices, making learning and teaching easier for everyone. School robots are very useful, and they can do many daily things.
