A great rescue action was quickly carried out. Police, firefighters, together with local volunteers, combed the area for two days and nights. With drones (无人机) and thermal (热的) cameras, they searched every place, refusing to give up hope.
Their efforts paid off on the morning of October 17, when a drone discovered the little girl in a small valley (山谷). She was weak and had small wounds, but was safe. The news spread right away online, “She’s Safe!” People cheered for the heartwarming result.
After a medical check, the girl was considered to be in good health. This touching story not only tells us that a vehicle is never a safe place to leave a child alone, but more importantly, it shows the power of the digital age—where technology’s support and human kindness came together to bring a lost child home.

Cities around the world often need to push down old buildings to make way for modern looks. However, Sydney, Australia, has discovered an amazing and eco-friendly way to face this challenge.
The AMP Center, once the tallest building in Sydney, was built in 1976. As time passed, the building became not suitable for use. Its owners decided to replace it, but they were unwilling to tear it down completely. Tearing down this 45-floor building and building a new one would cause serious environmental pollution. After thinking twice, they came up with an idea to build a new building on the basis of the old one, then creating the world’s first recycled skyscraper (摩天大楼).
First, workers carefully removed some of the old building’s parts. Next, they set up a new building next to the old one and connected them. Finally, they covered the combined (组合) surfaces with glass, creating the new skyscraper. This creative method not only saved a lot of building time but also reduced the costs.
This new skyscraper is named Quay Quarter Tower. It stands at a height of 206 meters, with 50 floors. The tower serves as housing, offices, shops, bars, restaurants, a museum, and a new hotel.
Besides its different uses, Quay Quarter Tower is a success for both the environment and climate change mitigation (缓和). It has reduced producing over 12,000 tons of CO₂ because of its green design. It stands as a shining example of what the future building can look like.
56. What is the correct order of building the Quay Quarter Tower?
① Cover surfaces with glass.
② Build a new building.
③ Connect the two buildings.
④ Remove some old parts from the old building.
A. ④②③① B. ②③①④
C. ③②④① D. ④①②③
57. Which of the following about Quay Quarter Tower is TRUE?
A. It was built in 1976.
B. It is mainly made of glass.
C. It is a new building without any old parts.
D. It has 50 floors while the old one has 45 floors.
58. Which magazine section is this passage probably from?
A. Health and Food. B. Sports and Hobbies.
C. Environment and Society. D. Culture and Education.
59. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. The history and development of Sydney.
B. The new beautiful looks of cities in Sydney, Australia.
C. The differences between old and new buildings in Sydney.
D. The world’s first recycled skyscraper and its advantages.
60. What can we infer (推断) from the passage?
A. AMP Centre was the first recycled skyscraper in the world.
B. There will be more environmental-friendly buildings.
C. The new building produced no CO₂.
D. It stands at a height of 206 meters.
【答案】56. A 57. D 58. C 59. D 60. B
【解析】
【导语】本文讲述了悉尼将旧楼改造为全球首座回收摩天大楼,环保且节省成本,堪称未来建筑典范。
【56题详解】
根据第三段内容:“First, workers carefully removed some of the old building’s parts.”(首先,工人小心地移除旧建筑的部分部件)”对应④;“Next, they set up a new building next to the old one and connected them.”(接下来,他们建立新建筑……并将它们连接起来)”对应②和③;“Finally, they covered the combined (组合) surfaces with glass, creating the new skyscraper.”(最后,他们用玻璃覆盖组合表面)”对应①。因此正确顺序为④②③①。
【57题详解】
根据第二段提到旧建筑“Tearing down this 45-floor building and building a new one would cause serious environmental pollution.”,第四段提到“This new skyscraper is named Quay Quarter Tower. It stands at a height of 206 meters, with 50 floors.”,原文提到旧楼共45层,新的Quay Quarter Tower共50层,D选项描述正确。
【58题详解】

Chinese scientists have developed a record-breaking chip that is expected to greatly improve 6G communication. The new technology was developed by a team from Peking University and City University of Hong Kong.
What makes this chip special is its ability to cover a really wide frequency band (频段)—from 0.5 GHz to 115 GHz. This means a single chip can deal with information that used to require 3 to 5 different pieces of equipment. Its processing speed can reach over 120 GB per second, fast enough to download several high-quality movies in just 1 second—think of downloading 3 or 4 movies you love in a blink, even those with clear pictures and loud sound!
What makes this chip even more excellent is its intelligence (智能). It can explore which frequency bands are crowded and change to spare ones by itself. This makes sure the signals (信号) are stronger even in awful environments, like busy streets with too many phone signals, so you won’t lose your video chat with friends easily.
The breakthrough means that future 6G networks are expected to support uses such as remote operation (like controlling robots to do small factory jobs from far away) and VR shopping or visiting, as well as connections from the deep sea to outer space. This progress shows China’s development in communication technology and brings us one step closer to the 6G age.
61. Who developed the record-breaking chip for 6G communication?
A. A team from Peking University and City University of Hong Kong.
B. A team only from City University of Hong Kong.
C. A team only from Peking University.
D. A team from an American university.
62. How does the writer explain the chip’s ability in paragraph 2?
A. By telling reasons.
B. By giving examples.
C. By listing numbers.
D. By asking questions.
63. Why is the chip’s intelligence excellent in Paragraph 3?
A. It can only work in quiet environments.
B. It needs people’s help to change frequency bands.
C. It stops working when there are too many phone signals.
D. It can find crowded frequency bands and change to free ones.
64. What can we know about future 6G networks from the passage?
A. They need 10 seconds to download one movie.
B. They may let people control robots in the deep sea.
C. They will never lose your video chat with your friends.
D. They can only be used on the ground of the earth but outer space.
65. What is the best title of this passage?
A. The Development of 6G Technology in Our Daily Life
B. A New Chip and Its Role in 6G Communication
C. Chinese Scientists and Their Research Teams
D. How the Scientists Developed a New Chip
【答案】61. A 62. C 63. D 64. B 65. B

Maria
I think we should take shorter showers. Also, turn off the tap as you brush your teeth. Use less water in the garden and collect rain water to clean our cars.

Don’t take more than you can eat. Because about one-third of food in some areas is thrown out or wasted, we should pack the leftovers up when we eat out.

On October 15, 2025, the quiet town of Chaoyang, Liaoning was shaken when a 4-year-old girl, Ding Yi, disappeared. Her grandparents had left her sleeping in their truck with the window half-open while working nearby. When they returned an hour later, the vehicle was empty.

A. The history and development of Sydney.
B. The new beautiful looks of cities in Sydney, Australia.

D. The world’s first recycled skyscraper and its advantages.
60. What can we infer (推断) from the passage?
A. AMP Centre was the first recycled skyscraper in the world.
