Sitting in front of the television may be relaxing, but spending too much time in front of it may take years off your life. Watching television less may help you live a much longer life.
Australian researchers (研究人员) studied more than 11,000 people over the age of 25. Their study (研究) shows that if people watch TV for six hours a day, they live about 4.8 years fewer than those who don’t watch any television. Also, people who are over the age of 25 lose 22 minutes of life for every hour of TV that they watch.5
Sitting in front of the television isn’t healthy. The more TV you watch, the less exercise you’ll get. And the less exercise you get, the more likely (可能的) it is that you’ll be ill.
Dr Lennert Veerman, the researcher who leads the study, says watching too much TV will be bad for people’s life expectancy (预期寿命), even for people who have a good diet. He thinks it’s necessary for doctors to start asking their patients about how much TV they watch, because it can show someone’s overall health.
So Veerman calls on people to turn off their TVs and get off the sofa to get some exercise.6 “Exercise is good,” he said. “Even light activity is good for health.”

A.Eat healthy food. B.Go to the doctor often.
C.Get more exercise. D.Do some housework.
( C )7.What column (栏目) of a magazine may we read this text?
A.Sports. B.Culture. C.Health. D.History.
8.Do you spend too much time watching TV or playing phones? What do you think of it? (不超过15词)
