Many students don’t know how to spend their free time well. Some only play computer games all day, some watch short videos for hours, and few students take up healthy hobbies. Li Min, a Grade Seven student, changes her free time life with meaningful hobbies.
Last term, Li Min felt tired and bored every weekend. She spent most free time on mobile phones, and her eyes became bad. Her teacher told her to find good hobbies to relax. After thinking for two days, Li Min chose two hobbies: reading and growing small plants.
Every Saturday morning, she goes to the school reading room. There are many kinds of books: storybooks, animal books, travel books and history books. She reads for two hours each time. She writes down beautiful sentences in her notebook. When she reads animal stories, she learns lots of knowledge about different animals’ living habits. When she reads travel books, she knows many beautiful places in China.
On Sunday afternoon, she looks after her small plant garden on her balcony. She grows sunflowers, tomatoes and green vegetables. She waters them every day, takes away bad leaves and watches them grow day by day. Last month, her sunflowers bloomed with big yellow flowers. She took many photos and shared them with her classmates.
Li Min also makes new friends with the same hobbies. She joins the school reading club and plant-lover group. Every Wednesday after school, they share books and talk about how to take care of plants. They also exchange small plant seeds with each other.

Chinese traditional snacks are popular all over the world, and tanghulu is one of the most famous ones. Tanghulu has a history of more than 800 years. It first appeared in the Song Dynasty. At first, people only used hawthorns to make tanghulu. Now we can also see tanghulu with grapes, strawberries and oranges.
Making tanghulu is not hard, but you need to be careful. First, wash all fruit clean and dry them fully. Wet fruit will make sugar melt quickly. Second, put fruit on thin bamboo sticks, 5 to 7 pieces each stick. Third, cook sugar with a little water in a hot pan. You must watch the fire well—too hot will burn the sugar, too cool can’t make hard sugar coats. When the sugar turns golden yellow, roll the fruit sticks in sugar quickly. At last, put the sticks on clean oil paper to cool down for ten minutes. The sugar coat will become crisp and sweet.
Wang Tao is a Grade Seven student. He learns to make tanghulu from his grandpa every winter holiday. His grandpa sells tanghulu near the community park. Every winter morning, Wang Tao helps wash fruit and cook sugar. Many kids and old people buy his grandpa’s tanghulu, because it tastes sweet and not too sour.
Last winter, Wang Tao took tanghulu to his school English party. He told foreign exchange students the history of tanghulu and taught them how to make simple tanghulu. The foreign students loved it very much and said it was the most delicious Chinese snack they ever ate.
Wang Tao says tanghulu is not only tasty food, but also a symbol of Chinese traditional culture. He wants to learn more old Chinese snacks and tell more people about our wonderful food culture in the future.
26. How long is the history of tanghulu?
A. Over 600 years. B. Over 800 years.
C. About 1,000 years. D. More than 1,500 years.
27. What fruit did people use for tanghulu at first?
A. Strawberries. B. Grapes. C. Hawthorns. D. Oranges.
28. Which step comes first when making tanghulu?
A. Cook sugar in a pan.
B. Wash and dry fruit.
C. Put fruit on bamboo sticks.
D. Cool sticks on oil paper.
29. From whom does Wang Tao learn to make tanghulu?
A. From his grandpa. B. At school club.
C. From online videos. D. In a food shop.
30. What can we know from the passage?
A. Tanghulu can only be made in summer.
B. Foreign students don’t like tanghulu.
C. Wang Tao shares tanghulu at English party.
D. Wang Tao sells tanghulu for pocket money.

Many middle school students have trouble getting on with their parents. They often argue about homework, mobile phones and after-school activities. Here are four easy ways to get along well with your parents, shared by school psychology teacher Ms. Li.
First, talk with your parents actively every day. Don’t stay in your room without talking after school. You can share small things at school, like your favourite class, funny stories with classmates or games in PE class. When you open your heart to them, they will know your ideas better and won’t easily get angry with you.
Second, help with housework without being asked. Parents are busy with work every day, and they are tired after coming home. You can sweep the floor, wash dishes or tidy your own desk every evening. Small housework shows your love and thanks to them. They will feel warm and proud of you.
Third, follow small family rules. Many fights start because students break rules secretly, such as playing on phones late at night or going out without telling parents. If you want to change the rules, talk to them politely instead of arguing. For example, if you want to watch cartoons for 20 minutes after finishing homework, ask them nicely; most parents will say yes.
Fourth, understand your parents’ worries. They stop you from playing on phones not because they hate fun, but because they worry about your eyesight and study. They ask you to go to bed early because they hope you have enough sleep for class the next day. Try to stand in their shoes and think more about their feelings.
Good parent-child relationship needs work from both sides. If you try these four ways, you will find fewer arguments and more warm talks at home.
31. Who gives the advice in the passage?
A. A PE teacher. B. A psychology teacher. C. A doctor. D. A parent.
32. What is the first way to get on with parents?
A. Help with housework.
B. Follow family rules.
C. Talk with them every day.
D. Understand their worries.
33. Which housework is NOT mentioned in Paragraph 3?
A. Sweep the floor. B. Wash dishes. C. Water flowers. D. Tidy desk.
34. Why do parents stop students using phones late?
A. They want to use phones themselves.
B. They worry about study and eyes.
C. They think phones are too expensive.
D. They don’t like short videos.
35. What is the best title for the passage?
A. Four Ways to Get on Well with Parents.
B. How to Finish Homework Fast.
C. Good Hobbies for Teenagers.
D. Family Rules Every Kid Must Follow.
D
Now more and more students ride shared bikes to school or go out on weekends. Shared bikes bring great convenience, but they also bring many problems. A school did a survey among 300 Grade Seven students last month to learn about their shared bike habits.
The survey results show that 62% of students ride shared bikes every week. 38% ride them to go shopping or visit friends, and 24% ride to school. Only 18% of students know all safety rules for riding bikes. Many students have bad riding habits: 45% ride with two people on one bike, 51% ride fast on busy roads, and 36% park bikes everywhere, blocking walkways and shop doors.
Teachers and traffic police worry a lot about these bad habits. Riding two people on one bike is very dangerous. If cars come suddenly, it’s easy to fall down and get hurt. Parking bikes randomly makes streets messy and brings trouble to other people. Riding fast on main roads may cause traffic accidents.
Traffic police give three rules for students to ride shared bikes safely. First, only one person can ride one bike. Second, slow down when crossing streets and watch cars carefully. Third, park bikes in special bike areas after using.
Schools also hold traffic safety classes every month. Teachers show students traffic accident videos and teach them correct riding manners. They ask students to tell their friends not to ride in dangerous ways.
Shared bikes are useful tools, but safety must come first. Every student should follow traffic rules and good public manners when using shared bikes.
36. How many students took part in the survey?
A. 180 B. 300 C. 500 D. 620
37. What do more students use shared bikes for?
A. Going to school
B. Joining sports clubs
C. Shopping and visiting friends
D. Travelling to other cities
38. Which bad habit do over half of the students have?
A. Riding fast on busy roads
B. Parking bikes anywhere
C. Two people on one bike
D. Riding bikes at night
39. What is the first safety rule from traffic police?
A. Park bikes in special areas
B. Don’t ride fast across streets
C. One bike for one rider only
D. Wear helmets all the time
40. What’s the writer’s idea about shared bikes?
A. Shared bikes are useless for students
B. Students can ride freely without rules
C. Use shared bikes with safety and good manners
D. Schools should stop students riding shared bikes
Last spring, our school held a volunteer activity to help stray cats in the community. All classmates could join, and I decided to take part in it. At first, some of my classmates ____41____me, because they thought stray cats were dirty and scary. But I loved small animals, so I didn’t care about their words.
We met at the community garden gate at eight on Saturday morning. Our teacher divided us into three small groups. My group’s job was to ____42____ the cat houses, bring cat food and fresh water, and make soft beds for the stray cats. We took big bags of cat food and clean cloths from the school office and walked to every cat house in the garden.
When I first walked near a small cat house, a little black cat ran out quickly. It looked thin and afraid. It didn’t eat anything for two days, the teacher told us. I slowly put food and water in front of it, and sat far away to let it feel safe. After ten minutes, the cat walked over and started to eat ____43____. My heart felt warm at that moment.
Some stray cats had small cuts on their legs. Our teacher brought medicine and taught us how to clean and cover their small wounds carefully. One white cat hurt its front leg badly, and it cried softly when we touched it. I talked to it in a gentle voice to make it ____44____. After we finished the medicine, it rubbed its head against my hand to say thanks.
At noon, we had a short rest. We shared bread and fruit and talked about the lovely cats we met. Many classmates who didn’t like cats at first changed their ____45____. They said the cats were quiet and cute, not scary at all.
In the afternoon, we made many warm cat beds with old cloths and boxes. We put them in dry corners so the cats wouldn’t get wet on rainy days. We also wrote warm signs on the garden walls, telling people not to kick or hurt stray cats, and ask them to give food if they meet hungry cats.
This volunteer activity taught me many things. First, small animals also have feelings and they need people’s ____46____. Stray cats are homeless, and they are just afraid of humans, not bad. Second, don’t judge things before you try them. My classmates feared cats at first, but after staying with them, they fell in love with these little animals. Third, working together makes hard work much ____47____. We finished all tasks fast because everyone helped each other.
From that day on, our class set up a small animal care group. Every weekend, some students go to the community garden to feed and look after stray cats. We collect old cloths and cat food from families in our neighbourhood. More people join us little by little.
Last month, the community gave our class a small prize for our volunteer work. Our teacher said we set a good ____48____ for all students in the school. I was very proud of our group.
Many students ask me why I love looking after stray cats. My answer is simple: every living thing needs love. When you give kindness to small animals, you will get happiness ____49____.
I keep a diary to write down every lovely cat I meet. I draw their looks and write their little stories. I hope more teenagers can learn to protect small animals and show kindness to every living thing around us. I will keep taking part in this volunteer work ____50____ I have free time.
Last week, we found three new baby stray cats behind the garden trees. They were too small to eat hard cat food. We bought soft milk for them and took turns to look after them every day. Now they grow bigger and play around us happily.
This volunteer experience is one of the most unforgettable ____51____ in my Grade Seven life. It changes my idea about small animals and teaches me to be a more caring person. I tell all my friends: never hurt stray animals, and try your best to give them warm help when you can.
If you also want to do small animal volunteer work, you don’t need special skills. You only need a kind ____52____ and patience. Even a box of cat food or an old cloth can bring big warmth to homeless cats. Don’t wait for big chances, start with small kind things every day.
Sometimes when I feel sad or tired from study, I go to the garden to stay with the cats. Their soft fur and quiet eyes can make all my bad feelings ____53____ quickly. They become my best quiet friends.
I have a small ____54____ now: I want to build a big warm cat house in the community garden, with soft beds and clean food places for all stray cats. I will keep working hard to make this dream come true, and call on more students to join our animal care group and share their ____55____ with homeless little cats.

B 37. C 38. A 39. C 40. C

根据文章第二段第二句“38% ride them to go shopping or visit friends, and 24% ride to school.”
根据文章第二段最后一句“Many students have bad riding habits: 45% ride with two people on one bike, 51% ride fast on busy roads, and 36% park bikes everywhere…”
根据文章第四段第二句“First, only one person can ride one bike.”

I will keep working hard to make this dream come true, and call on more students to join our animal care group and share their ____55____ with homeless little cats.

waited for“等待”、looked after“照顾”、talked with“交谈” 语义均相反。
根据“bring cat food and fresh water, and make soft beds for the stray cats”以及常识可知,工作会包括清扫猫舍的任务分工,clean表示“打扫、清理”。
固定搭配set a good example表示“树立好榜样”,example表示“榜样”。
固定搭配get happiness back表示“收获回馈的快乐”,back表示“回馈、回来”。
so表因果,but表转折,or表选择,逻辑不匹配。
根据后文“make this dream come true”实现这个梦想,dream 表示“梦想”。
