Great Minds Shine Through History
When I had a warm discussion with my classmates about great people in history last week, every aspect of their life filled our hearts with admiration. We all agreed that their stories are truly inspiring, so we deeply admire those who devoted all their lives to science and humanity.
A famous historian and his team of researchers once introduced many outstanding scientists to us. A brilliant chemist spent his whole life studying chemistry, fighting against endless hunger and hardship in poor times; a sharp-minded physicist made groundbreaking scientific discovery that changed the world. Neither of them chose to drop out of their research, even when difficulties surrounded them. They marked every important date on an old paper calendar, recording every new finding for nearly an entire century.
In old times, many wounded soldiers fought bravely to protect their nation. Some British heroes took risky airway trips across the Atlantic Ocean, yet a deadly disease would easily spread and take their lives. Back then, no one knew much scientific knowledge to stop the disaster.
Later, countless pioneers appeared to bring hope. Confucius, a great ancient thinker from a powerful ancient kingdom, valued kindness and taught that mankind should live in peace. He lived long before BCE time of the Warring States Period, leaving wisdom that still guides us today. Many years after him, brilliant inventors appeared: Michael Faraday, Marie Curie who won the Nobel Prize and Isaac Newton all won high praise for their creations. Every great inventor knows that above all, persistence is the key to success. Amelia Earhart, a brave female pilot, finished a long dangerous flight across the ocean, though her plane left only simple woodwork as a trace after she disappeared.
We often look up to such pioneers full of courage and wisdom. Their life stories give us endless inspiration to be brave when facing troubles. We learn that it is necessary to hold fast to our dreams, even if we only have a small seed of hope from our warm childhood. Many ancient stories from old Chinese dynasties tell us that our dreams can surely come true as long as we stick to them.
The western world also raised many remarkable people. Famous biologists studied the whole universe and distant unexplored lands. Some stored their research materials in a safe bank, and their precious collection of notes was never left behind. They spent their whole life on endless exploration, believing their ideas would live on forever. Radio equipment helped them send ideas far and wide, so valuable truth would not disappear with time.
Now we understand whether our dream is science, art or history, balance is vital in life. We must keep a good balance between study and rest, and never let hardship break us. Every ordinary person can become admirable if we carry the wisdom left by those great minds.
