Teacher: Welcome to this week’s book club. Our book this week is The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, about a girl Dorothy.
A strong wind takes her and her dog Toto from home to the magical Land of Oz. To go back, she needs help from the Great Wizard Oz. On the way, she meets the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion—they also want the wizard’s help: the Scarecrow wants a brain, the Woodman a heart, the Lion courage. They go together, and many exciting things happen. Now, Emma, what do you think of the book?
Emma: I love Dorothy and her friends’ exciting story. But the most interesting part is: each wants something from the wizard, but finally finds it in themselves.
Teacher: Can you give an example?
Emma: My favorite character, the Scarecrow. He thinks he’s not clever and wants a brain, but he always finds a way out. He even has the idea to make a boat to cross a river. He’s clever—he just doesn’t know it.
Ethan: So we already have those qualities, and just need to find them?
Emma: Yes, that’s the story’s key idea. It’s a great book about finding our own values.
Teacher: You’re right. We just need to learn more about ourselves and recognize the good qualities we already have, like the book’s characters.

Do you often forget to drink water between classes? Try the new “Smart Cup”—a water bottle that talks to you! When it glows (发光) green, it means “Good job”. When it turns orange, it’s saying “Time to drink!” It even connects to your phone’s health app.
This smart cup acts like a mini teacher. Take a photo of your lunch, and it checks if you need more vegetables or protein (蛋白质). Want to eat ice cream? The bottle might say, “Try yogurt first.” Every Monday, the app shows the intake you drink, like “8L this week”. Drink enough water for 5 days, and you can get a funny cartoon sticker (贴纸) in the app. Chen Kai, a 7th grader from Shanghai, says, “I even get free cookies with enough stickers.”
What’s cooler? It turns classmates into health partners. When someone’s cup turns orange, his classmates will say, “Drink up.” School nurse Dr. Chen says, “It’s like having a health teacher in your bag.” But Dr. Li tells everyone, “Your cup can’t do sit-ups for you! Play baseball or jog with friends every day.”
Teen Health magazine found 70% of Smart Cup users eat more fruits. “It’s like a game!” says Chen Kai, shaking his glowing bottle. “Now I even finish all the carrots in my lunchbox!”
6. What does the smart cup remind (提示) you when it glows orange?
A. You’ve done a good job. B. You should drink water.
C. You can connect it to your phone. D. You are having a phone call.

“My parents always tell me what I should do and what I shouldn’t do. They give me too much advice. It sometimes makes me a little angry,” said Zhang Hua. Do you have the same problem? Perhaps your parents had the same problem when they were young. Why do some parents seem unfriendly in their children’s eyes?
One of the most important reasons is when people become parents, they often worry about too many things. They worry about everything about you. They worry about your choice of friends, the food you eat, your study at school, how much sleep you get and so on. They want you to grow up healthily and happily.
So how can you make things easier on yourself? Just make sure your parents know what you’re doing. Get them to know your friends.
Phone them if you get home later than usual. Say sorry to them when you make mistakes. Talk about your ideas with them and they may talk about theirs with you.
Most of all, try to understand your parents. When you become a parent, these things may help you to get on with your children.

【56题详解】
此答案是对第一段信息的概括总结。该段提到两个原因:一是“My parents always tell me what I should do and what I shouldn’t do.”(总是告诉他该做什么不该做什么),二是“They give me too much advice. It sometimes makes me a little angry, said Zhang Hua.”(给他太多建议)。答案将这两点整合为“Because his parents always tell him what he should do and what he shouldn’t do and his parents give him too much advice.”

I’m glad to share my story about getting along.
Last term, I had a misunderstanding with my best friend Tom. We argued about a small thing and didn’t talk for several days. I felt really sad and lonely. Finally, I wrote a letter to say sorry sincerely. He forgave me and we became even closer than before.
From this experience, I learned that communication is the key to getting along with others. It is important to understand each other better. True friendship needs care and honesty.
