In the Eastern Han Dynasty, there lived a hardworking young man named Sun Jing. He loved learning very much. Sun Jing spent almost all his time reading. However, he had a big problem — he often fell asleep while studying late at night. Every time he closed his eyes, he would lose valuable study time.
Sun Jing tried many ways to stay awake. He splashed cold water on his face. He stood up and walked around. He even pinched (掐) his own arm. But nothing worked for long. He felt very worried. He knew that knowledge was the key to a better future, but his sleepy body kept letting him down.
One night, as he was almost falling asleep again, an idea came to him. He looked up at the wooden beam (房梁) above his head. He took a strong rope and tied one end tightly around his hair. Then, he tied the other end to the beam. Now, whenever he started to fall asleep, his head would drop, and the rope would pull his hair hard. The sharp pain would wake him up right away.
From that night on, Sun Jing studied until dawn (黎明) every day. The pain kept him awake. He read book after book. Years later, his hard work brought him success. He became a famous and respected scholar (学者), and the king invited him to be a royal adviser (皇家顾问).
This story tells us that great success often needs great effort (努力). The road to knowledge is never easy, but those who keep trying will finally reach their goals.
24. What was Sun Jing’s main difficulty when studying at night?
A. He could not stop himself falling asleep.
B. He had no oil lamp to light the room.
C. He did not have enough books to read.
D. He could not understand the books.
25. Why did Sun Jing tie his hair to the beam?
A. To keep his head up while reading.
B. To cause pain and wake himself up.
C. To stop his hair becoming messy.
D. To hang his books above the desk.
26. What can we infer (推断) from the fact that Sun Jing studied “until dawn every day”?
A. He did not like sleeping at all.
B. He had no other work during the day.
C. He showed very strong will to learn.
D. The rope method was not successful.
27. What is the main lesson that Sun Jing’s story teaches us?
A. Sleeping less is the most important thing for success.
B. Physical pain is necessary for becoming a scholar.
C. Only people from poor families can truly work hard.
D. It takes a lot of effort for a person to succeed.
C
In a museum in Central China, visitors stop in front of a large screen. They are not just looking at a picture. They are talking with an ancient woman who lived more than 2,000 years ago. How is this possible? The answer is AI (人工智能).
Scientists used AI to study old bones, historical books, and artworks. They created a lifelike (逼真的) digital image (形象) of Xin Zhui, a famous lady from the Han Dynasty. But the AI does more than just show her face. It can answer visitors’ questions, blink (眨眼), and even smile.
This is not the first time AI has helped “bring back” historical people. In other places, AI has been used to make Confucius “talk” about his ideas, and to let a famous painter “introduce” his own paintings. By learning from thousands of texts and pictures, the AI models can imitate the person’s look, voice and way of speaking.
However, some people have worries. They think that AI might sometimes get the facts wrong. For example, if the information given to the AI is not correct, the AI might say something that is not true about history. Also, some visitors feel a little scared when talking to a “dead” person on screen.
Museum workers say they are careful with the information they put into the AI. They only use history books and real relics (遗物) as sources. They believe this technology helps young people become more interested in history. “When you can ‘talk’ to someone from the past, history becomes real and fun,” one worker said.
28. Which of the following can be put back into the blank “▲” in Paragraph 2?
A. Visitors are not allowed to take photos.
B. It feels just like talking to a real person.
C. Xin Zhui was a famous scientist in history.
D. The museum is very crowded on weekends.
29. What does the underlined word “imitate” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?
A. copy B. draw C. change D. forget
30. What is one reason that some people worry about this AI technology?
A. It costs too much money. B. It makes museums too noisy.
C. It might tell false historical facts. D. It only works for famous painters.
31. What can we infer (推断) from the last paragraph?
A. Young people no longer like visiting museums.
B. Museum workers will stop using AI in the future.
C. History books are usually full of mistakes.
D. The technology is useful in making history fun.
32. What is the best title for this passage?
A. The Life of Xin Zhui in Han Dynasty
B. How to Build a Museum with AI
C. AI Brings History to “Life”
D. Why Old Bones Are Important
第二节 阅读六选五(共5小题;每小题2分,共10分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有一项为多余选项。
Where do you usually study on the weekend? Some students like to study at the library while others like to study at home better. What is the difference between a library and a living room? Which is better for studying?
33 A familiar (熟悉的) environment can make it easier to face stress (压力). You have all your things around you, and you don’t have to spend extra (额外的) money on lunch. 34 There are a lot of advantages (优点) to studying at home.
However, it’s not without problems. Your comfortable bed may keep you from studying. Have you ever been told not to mistake a place to rest for a place to work? 35
Libraries are specially designed for people to study in. There are many kinds of helpful books, and you can meet other students and set up a study group. 36 They are often crowded. It can be hard to get a seat. And there may be noise from people typing on their computers.
It can be difficult to decide whether your home or the library is a better place to study. You need to try them out. For example, take a task like reading. First, try studying in your living room. Then, go to the library and read a different part of the same book. 37 This way you can find out which study environment is better for you.
A. After trying each, take notes to describe how you felt and how well you were able to study.
B. Many students find the comfort of their own space helpful for studying. But libraries also have their disadvantages (缺点).
D. If your bedroom becomes a place for both, your mind may do both tasks (任务) badly.
E. You can study day or night and stop for a break whenever you want.
F. Some students think the open areas are the most comfortable places to read.

A. Ancient man-made places for heat reduction
B. Emotional weather expressions
C. The function of the hump
D. Phrases with the word “spring”
E. An observation trip by the Yangtze river
38. Camels are the only animals with humps. And it’s the hump that gives camels the amazing ability to go for long periods of time without food or water. The hump is like a spare cupboard where the camel stores food and water for days when there is nothing to eat or drink.
39. My friends and I went down to the Yangtze river to find a good place to watch it. We took cameras, chairs, food and drink, and special glasses so we could look at it. Lots of people gathered there to watch too. Slowly, the moon moved in front of the sun, it looked like someone bit a hole in the sun, it got darker and darker as the moon slowly covered the sun.
40. In ancient times, living areas were often built around man-made lakes and rivers, and flowers and plants were added to increase the moisture (水分) in the air and provide shade during the Southern Song dynasty. The emperor often spent summers in his “green cold palace”, where bamboo lotus flowers and other plants were planted, and a large man made waterfall ran to reduce the heat.
41. We often use weather language to describe how we feel. For example, if we are feeling ill, we say we are “under the weather”. If we are feeling stressed and busy, we can say that we are “snowed under”. We use “bad” weather (rainy, storm, etc.) to describe a bad mood and good weather (sunny, warm, etc.) to describe a good mood.
42. Spring is a lovely time of year. Trees flower and birds sing. Spring is the name of a season, but “spring” is also a verb (动词). It means to move suddenly or quickly to a different place.
