Ancient people didn’t write down things that happened. Instead, the older people told stories to the younger people. This is how history was passed down. Here is the story of a great king—Gihanga. Rwanda is a country near lots of big lakes and forests. A long time ago, there were lots of small towns in this place. But the people in these small towns had simple ways of living, with little technology to help them. Back then, there was no country, no “Rwanda” in the world. Gihanga is thought to have spent his childhood in different locations in Central Africa. It was said that his father was a man of wealth and ability. Gihanga learned a lot from his father. He knew how to use metal to make things, like shoes for horses. People thought he was a clever boy. Thanks to Gihanga’s great mind, many people fell in love with him. He is believed to have discovered fire, invented new ways of farming and building, and made new objects from metal. All of these things were introduced to local people to improve their lives. Besides all these, he may have also founded the country of Rwanda, made laws and spread religion. But can we be sure all these are true? The story of Gihanga has been told for thousands of years. How much of the story might have changed? Can we even be sure Gihanga existed at all? 1.What is Rwanda like now according to the passage? A. There are lots of small towns. B. Kai played a guqin solo, and for most of the show, he played along with the rhythm of the drums. The band played faster and faster. Kai’s classmates jumped to their feet, clapping and screaming. When the music ended, there was an awkward (尴尬的) silence. They all looked at the teachers. Mr Li asked, “What were you trying to express?” Kai murmured, “I wanted to do something different...to modernize the guqin’s sound.” “Well, it’s a good try. But you know it has over 3,000 years of history. I don’t think you’ve presented the characteristics well,” said Mr Li. “The music was...We could hardly hear the guqin,” added Miss Zhou. “I’m afraid I can’t give you high marks.” “Please, can I have another chance?” begged Kai. They finally agreed. Alone in the hall later, Kai sat in his chair, feeling a little sad. “I understand what you were trying to do,” Kai looked up and saw Miss Zhou by his side. “But before you can break the rules, you have to master them.” Kai was puzzled. What did she mean? “The guqin is connected to nature. The bottom board represents the ground, and the rounded top board represents the sky. A wonderful guqin performance shows the harmony (和谐) between people and nature.” “Miss Zhou, is it fine to play the guqin with other instruments?” “Because it is so quiet,” replied Miss Zhou, “it’s usually played alone. Sometimes, it can be played with the dizi or another guqin. Every note matters. And you know, there’s Chinese philosophy (哲理) behind every form of art. That’s what makes Chinese art special. We should try hard to keep the value of traditions and connect them with modern life.” “Is it true that Confucius played the guqin?” “Exactly. Confucius believed that music was necessary for a well-rounded education. It could help a person develop his inner self.” “Can I make it modern?” Kai was wondering if he had asked a stupid question. “Ancient musicians followed traditions to show respect. To modernize it, try to find the right way to keep the value. How will you change your piece?” “I’m not sure yet,” said Kai. “But I’m going to do something different again.” That night, Kai kept thinking about the next show. “How can I present the guqin and balance the traditional spirit with a modern touch?” he wondered. I don’t think you’ve presented the characteristics well”、“The music was...We could hardly hear the guqin”以及“I’m afraid I can’t give you high marks...we could hardly hear the guqin”可知老师认为Kai没有很好地展现古琴的价值。故选D。 2.细节理解题。根据“Kai played a guqin solo, and for most of the show, he played along with the rhythm of the drums”可知Kai和着鼓的节奏弹奏古琴,e排在首位,排除AD;根据“When the music ended, there was an awkward (尴尬的) silence”可知同学们沉默了一会儿,b排在第二,排除C。故选B。 3.推理判断题。根据“But before you can break the rules, you have to master them.”以及“To modernize it, try to find the right way to keep the value.”可知在你打破规则之前,你必须掌握它们,为了使其现代化,试着找到正确的方法来保持价值,所以他从这次经历中学到的道理是:创新要求我们首先要理解传统。故选C。 4.推理判断题。根据“How can I present the guqin and balance the traditional spirit with a modern touch?”以及前文提到古琴可以与笛子一起演奏,可推断出在Kai的下一场演出中我们可能会听到传统风格的流行音乐,将传统古琴与现代流行元素结合。故选A。 B(2025·江苏盐城·中考真题) In a lively martial arts (武术) club in Akpro-Misserete, Benin (贝宁), the sound of feet hitting the ground and cries of “Hay-Hah!” fill the air. I’ve been taking cooking classes at school. I’m still crazy about making food, even though it’s not always easy. Those cooking skills I’ve learnt are useful, especially when I have to make a meal with limited things. I’ve realized that to eat well, you need to keep learning to cook new dishes, not just a few dishes. Imagine you’re a musician—people will get tired of hearing even a great song, if it’s the only one you can play. The same goes for cooking. I love watching my mum mix different things to make delicious dishes. I don’t think we need to stick to recipes (食谱) strictly. And what matters is just trying things out. So when I cook, I often try something new and take notes of what I’ve done and what I’ve used—a bit like what I do in my Science classes! I’ve learnt a lot of cooking skills, but I know I still have more to learn. Helping in the kitchen is fun. I can make simple things like pies for everyone. But I often make a mess. Once, I even served my pie without the sauce! My family are patient. They’ve given me the confidence to learn more cooking skills. Books help me a lot in my learning. I like to read cooking books in my room and go to the kitchen when I think I can manage some key recipes well. 9.According to Simon, what should we do to eat well? A.Be a musician.
