A
I am a polar bear living on the southeast coast of Greenland. My grandma once told me,“Sea ice is our world.” In the old days, sea ice stretched far and wide. We hunted seals (海豹), travelled around and raised our babies on the sea ice. For us, life without sea ice meant no future at all.
But now the earth is getting warmer. Each spring the sea ice melts earlier; each autumn it comes back later. Because of this, there are more ice-free days than before and we can hardly hunt seals on the ice. At the same time, our world keeps becoming smaller. For a long time, we have feared that we would lose our home completely.
Yet, we refuse to wait and suffer. We have found ways to survive. Some of us are moving north, following the retreating (逐渐消融的) sea ice. Others, including me, depend on glacier (冰川) ice. The thick glacier ice acts much like sea ice, offering us places to rest and hunt. Besides, we have changed what we eat. When seals become harder to catch, we search the coast for dead animals or bird eggs. We even hunt animals on land, something my grandma never dreamed of. In this way, we have gained more time to live.
Will we be safe in the future? No one knows. But we clearly know that true hope lies in humans. If humans take action to protect our planet, sea ice will return. Then we can live freely once again.

D. To introduce a new science discovery.
15. Which is the best title for the passage?
A. The Importance of Sea Ice B. The Ways to Save Animals

Maps help most of us visit new places easily. But for people with eyesight problems, visiting new places can be really hard. That’s when tactile maps (触觉地图) come in.
Unlike common maps, tactile maps have special raised marks and different patterns to show different places. Big triangles (△) stand for traffic lights, small squares (□) for bus stops. Dotted (·) areas are built-up areas, small triangle areas stand for forests, and wavy lines stand for water. Users can know about places and plan travel routes by touching the maps with fingers.
Making tactile maps requires not only practical skills, but also psychology (心理学) knowledge and modern printing technology. Psychology helps designers control the amount of information shown on maps, so users won’t feel worried or tired. Besides, 3D printing helps cut down production costs. Both psychology and printing technology make tactile maps more accessible.
Tactile maps do more than just show directions. They offer a sense of freedom and independence to those who once depended on others. Although there are still challenges, tools like tactile maps help build a world that welcomes everyone.
16. Who are tactile maps designed for?
A. People with poor eyesight. B. People with hearing trouble.
C. People who make travelling plans. D. People who are interested in maps.
17. Which part of the tactile map stands for water areas?
A. A B. B C. C D. D
18. Why is psychology used to help create tactile maps?
A. To reduce users’ stress. B. To add more information.
C. To help designers learn better. D. To speed up finger movements.
19. What does the underlined word “accessible” probably mean?
A. Rich in details. B. Simple to produce.
C. Fun to look at. D. Easy to get and use.
20. How does the writer probably feel about tools like tactile maps?
A. Hopeful. B. Doubtful. C. Worried. D. Curious.

Leo was on a mission to explore a new planet far beyond the Moon and Mars. It was the first mission of its kind. No team. No return date. Just him, the ship, and the unknown future ahead.
For the first month, everything went as planned. Every morning, Leo checked the ship systems, sent reports to Earth, and exercised to stay strong. At night, he floated near the window and watched the stars pass by.
As the ship traveled farther, the delay (延迟) in communication increased. Messages that once took seconds now took hours. Leo learned to be patient, but the silence was hard. He missed simple things: voices, laughter, even arguments. One day, the messages stopped completely. Leo tried again and again, but there was only silence.
Weeks later, the ship systems detected (探测) a strange signal. Not from Earth. Leo followed the signal through a thick cloud of space dust and found a small planet. He landed carefully and stepped outside. The planet was warm and tall creatures moved slowly toward him. They were friendly and peaceful. They communicated not with words but by sharing feelings.
“You are far from home,” the creatures seemed to say. They showed Leo images of Earth. From what he saw, Earth was still there, but the messages could not reach that far. They invited Leo to stay. However, thinking of his family, his friends and his dog, Leo chose to risk returning home.
The creatures sent energy into his ship to help him communicate with Earth. With engines shaking and alarms ringing, Leo whispered (小声说) a quiet “Please”. Suddenly, a message lit up his screen, and a line appeared: “Hello, this is Earth.” Tears filled his eyes. Leo knew that he was finally heading home.
21. What can we know about Leo’s space mission?

B. He met some dangerous alien creatures.
C. His spaceship’s engines stopped working.
D. He decided to give up his dream of space.
24. What is the correct order according to paragraphs 4 and 5?
A. ①②③ B. ②①③ C. ③②① D. ②③①
