Robinson Crusoe loved traveling around the world when he was young. Instead of listening to his father’s advice, he decided to leave home to look for new chances. He expected to make money and live a different life.

To live safely, he cut down trees to build a small house. Later, he found some seeds and planted corn by himself. He also learned to hunt animals for food every day. He tried his best to solve difficulties all alone.
Several years passed. One day, Robinson found some people coming to the island. He saved a young man and named him Friday. From then on, Friday became his good helper. According to a study, more than 130 billion pounds of uneaten (未吃的) food go to waste in Laura’s country each year. That is about 30% of the yearly food supply. It is a sad fact, especially when you consider how many families and homeless (无家的) people are hungry.
When Laura saw her school dining hall throw away uneaten food at all every day, she had an idea. She has started a project (项目) to help her school dining hall give uneaten food to homeless shelters in her community. In the past three years, the same project started in other schools and some fast food restaurants around the city. The project is called Feed & Find, and has already fed thousands of people in her city.
How does it work? Through an app, Feed & Find matches (配对) local homeless shelters with school dining halls and restaurants that have uneaten food to provide. When dining halls or restaurants have uneaten food left, they can use the app to share the information about the food. A truck driver working for the project then picks it up and takes it to a shelter.
Pretty cool, right? It’s not surprising that many people in other cities have contacted (联系) Laura, expecting that she could help develop similar projects for their communities.
Some people, however, have concerns about the uneaten food. They think such food may not be clean enough. Still, this project is a clever way to help solve the problem of food waste and it helps those in need.
( ) 28. What can the numbers in Paragraph 1 tell us?
A. Some people are poor.
B. Food waste is serious.
C. The population is large.
( ) 29. Why do many people in other cities contact Laura?
A. Because they hope to find a truck driver to send food.
B. Because they expect her to visit their communities.
C. Because they expect her to help develop the projects.

A. Ways. B. Secrets. C. Worries.
( ) 31. Which can be the best title for this text?
A. A Food Safety Project
B. A Food Sharing Project

Hunan Introduces Spring and Autumn Breaks for Students
The province has started spring and autumn breaks for students in Hunan. The local government issued (发布) a notice on March 26, 2026.
According to the notice, the spring break is in April or May. The autumn break is in October or November. Each break lasts two or three days. Schools can connect these breaks with weekends or other holidays. This gives students more time to go out and enjoy nature.
What can students do during the breaks? They can take a short trip with their family. They can visit a farm or a park. They can read books in the library or watch a science show in the museum. Some students may help with housework or learn a new skill like cooking. These activities help them relax and learn in a fun way.
The new policy also cares about working parents. If parents cannot stay at home, schools will open and provide free care for students. Museums, libraries, and science centers will also offer free or cheap activities. The government asks companies to let parents take time off during these breaks.
The policy has clear rules. Schools cannot add extra (额外的) homework during the breaks. They are also not allowed to have extra classes. Safety comes first. Schools will teach students about water, traffic, and fire safety before the holidays. Parents are asked to keep an eye on their children when they are outside.
