Darts (飞镖游戏) is a fun game for everyone to enjoy. To play it, you just need a board and some darts. The game usually starts with 501 points. The goal is to get your score down to 50 or less. To win, you need to reach exactly zero. But darts is not just a game. I’ve found that it helps me in some surprising ways.
I used to be good at maths in primary school, but I became slower because I stopped practicing. Then I started playing darts. Every time I threw, I subtracted (减去) the points from my score. For example, if my score is 300 and I hit 60, my new score is 240. I did this again and again. After a few weeks, my calculating (计算) speed became much faster. It’s not magic — it’s just practice.
Playing darts also helps me focus better. When I play, I have to pay attention to every throw. I learn to block out noise and other people. I also remember my score and decide which number to hit next. If I miss, I quickly think of a new plan. All these things help me stay focused, even in class.
And there’s something else. At first, hitting the target (目标) was hard. I missed a lot. But I kept practicing, and slowly I improved. Each small success made me feel proud. Now that confidence helps me try new things, like speaking in front of my classmates. Darts is not only fun. I believe any kid can benefit from it.

A. 501 points. B. 100 points. C. 50 points. D. 0 points.

C. Because he got magical power from darts game.
D. Because he did a lot of calculation practice at home.
14. What does the phrase “block out” most probably mean in Paragraph 3?
A. Listen to. B. Keep away from. C. Look forward to. D. Get along with.
15. What can we infer from Paragraph 4?

16. What is the writer’s purpose of writing this passage?
A. To explain the rules of darts. B. To show how darts has helped him.
C. To teach readers how to play darts. D. To tell a story about a competition.

During Spring Festival, do dumplings become the main food on your dinner table? In my home country, Poland, people also love eating a kind of “dumpling.” We call them pierogi.
Pierogi can be filled with cheese, potatoes, meat, or cabbage. We often put onions or bacon (培根) on top. During Christmas, we fill them with sauerkraut and mushrooms. When I was a child, I loved visiting my grandparents in the summer. They made sweet pierogi with cherries or blueberries, and put sweet cream on top. Some people argue about where dumplings first came from. But the truth is that almost every culture in the world has its own kind of dumpling.
In Italy, for example, they have ravioli. These square-shaped dumplings are made from dough (面团) and filled with meat or cheese. Italian people often cover them with tomato sauce.
If you like a crunchy (松脆的) bite, try an Indian samosa. It is a triangle-shaped dumpling filled with spicy potatoes, peas, or meat. It is a very famous Indian snack. In South Africa, dombolo is a traditional dumpling. People cook these steamed balls of bread on top of a stew.
17. What do people in Poland call their dumplings?
A. Ravioli. B. Samosa. C. Pierogi. D. Dombolo.
18. What did the writer’s grandparents often put on top of pierogi?
A. Onions or bacon. B. Sauerkraut and mushrooms.
C. Sweet cream. D. Tomato sauce.
19. Which country makes triangle-shaped dumplings?
A. Poland. B. Italy. C. India. D. South Africa.
20. Why does the writer mention ravioli, samosa, and dombolo in the passage?
A. To show that Poland is not the only country with dumplings.
B. To tell us how to make different kinds of dumplings.
C. To show that Italian dumplings are the best in the world.
D. To describe his favorite foods from different countries.
21. What is the main idea of this passage?
A. How to make pierogi at home. B. The history of Chinese dumplings.
C. Why people argue about dumplings. D. Different dumplings in the world.

A. They are tall and strong like the trees. B. They need very little sunlight to grow.
C. They have more kinds than grass plants. D. They can’t live without thick leaves above.
25. What’s the structure of the text?
A. ①/②③④/⑤ B. ①/②/③④/⑤
C. ①②/③/④⑤ D. ①②③/④/⑤

五、阅读表达(共5小题,每小题2分,计10分)
阅读短文,回答下列问题。
Playing sports can bring lots of benefits to children’s health, such as building strong bones and muscles, improving heart health, and helping to keep a healthy weight. However, some children do not like sports. They may miss these benefits. You can’t force (强迫) them to love sports, but you can help create good conditions for them.
Focusing on fun over winning
Most children who enjoy sports want to be with their friends and have fun. They can’t enjoy playing a sport if they are not having fun. Let your child know that it is good to want to win and try his or her best to win. But having fun is more important than winning. Celebrating effort (努力) rather than just the final score helps children build confidence and enjoy the game itself.
Looking into other options (选择)
Some children don’t enjoy team sports because it is not easy to play with others or learn teamwork. If a child doesn’t like team sports, he or she can try sports like tennis, ping-pong and badminton. If competition is a problem for a child, he or she can try sports like swimming, running and riding a bicycle. These individual sports (个人运动) allow children to set personal goals. Without the pressure of letting teammates down, many children find these activities more relaxing and enjoyable.
___________________________
It’s also important to choose the right time for sports. Don’t let kids exercise when they are tired, hungry or sleepy. They will only feel unhappy. Short and daily workouts are much better than long and tiring training. A 20-minute game after school or an outdoor walk on weekends can easily keep kids active.
In short, there is no fixed way to get kids into sports. As long as we respect their interests and plan activities properly, children will fall in love with sports step by step and gain a healthy body and positive mind.
42. List health benefits playing sports can bring. (at least two)

Their leaves are thick, so little sunlight reaches the ground. That is why you mainly see ferns (蕨类植物) and small plants on the rainforest floor.
