I am a plastic bottle. A week ago, I was on a supermarket shelf. I had a normal life, the same as all my brothers and sisters—other bottles full of water. I felt really happy.
Then a tall woman picked me up and put me in her basket! The woman took me home and put me in the fridge. It was cold, but I soon made friends with the cans and bottles in it. However, only a few hours later, she took me out of the fridge and drank the water inside me. Then she threw me into a dustbin. How lonely I felt!
Early the next morning, a man took me out of the dustbin. He threw me and the other rubbish into the back of a truck. There were so many terrible smells. Then I was pushed together with the rest of the rubbish. Soon I was completely flat. I couldn’t believe how thin I became.
I slept for a while. When I woke up, I found myself in a terrible place. Everything around me was ugly and had terrible smells. I felt afraid. I kept expecting that I would be moved somewhere else. Then huge trucks came and covered us with a layer (层) of soil.
I asked another bottle what would happen to us. He said that we would never leave this terrible crowded place, but would have to stay here for thousands of years. “Why can’t they reuse or recycle us?” I cried.

Do animals communicate with each other? I did some research and, to my surprise, I learned that all animals communicate. They don’t use language, but they do send messages to each other. I learned that animals communicate with each other in three main ways: through sounds, smells, and body language.
The alarm call is one way that sounds are used for communication. When an enemy is near, animals send out a warning sound. Those who hear it run to safety, hide, or get together to fight the enemy. Dogs bark (吠叫) to show other animals how they’re feeling. Whales are well known for their ability to communicate from far away with special sounds. Humans don’t understand the meaning of these sounds, but in their own social groups, whales understand what they’re saying to each other.
Smell is another popular method of animal communication. Some animals, such as the amoeba (变形虫), give out a chemical to tell other amoebas it’s going to have babies. Some animals send out a strong smell to warn other animals to stay away from them. For example, skunks give off a smell when they feel they are in danger.
There are many examples of animals that use body language to communicate. Chimpanzees (黑猩猩) touch hands when they meet. When angry, they stick out their tongues (舌头). Think of a happy dog moving its tail from side to side. Even humans understand this form of dog body language.
Humans have developed their own system to communicate with each other, using words and sentences. But if you watch other animals carefully for a while, you quickly come to understand that they also have ways of getting their messages across.
31. How does the writer lead into the topic?
A. By telling a joke. B. By using an old saying.
C. By asking a question. D. By comparing information.
32. How many ways do animals mainly communicate with each other?
A. Two. B. Three. C. Four. D. Five.
33. Which animal can communicate from far away?
A. The dog. B. The whale. C. The skunk. D. The chimpanzee.
34. What’s the structure of the text?
(P1=Paragraph 1, P2=Paragraph 2, ...)
A. B. C. D.
35. What’s the writer’s purpose in writing the text?
A. To introduce some special animals. B. To call on people to protect animals.

根据前文“feet stuck in the mud”,身体失去平衡的结果通常是fall“摔倒”。
根据前文“decided to take the dog to the nearest house”,说明这是唯一的选择,即“have no choice”。
wait for“等待”、pick up“捡起”和look for“寻找”均不符。
So“所以”、or“或者”和because“因为”逻辑不通。
根据后文“until its owner was found”,说明是暂时帮忙照顾。
根据后文“At school, her classmates cheered for her”,说明消息传播得很快。
根据前文“He didn’t get on well with others”以及现在的对比“had many visitors”,说明他以前是孤独的。

68. than 69. since
70. as
根据“plenty of frogs”可知,此处表示“存在、有”,应用there be句型,其结构为“there be+主语”,空格后有be动词are,故填there符合搭配。
