Last summer, I signed up for a volunteer program at Sunflower Camp, a place for children with autism (孤独症) . Stepping into the quiet classroom filled with colourful toys and gentle music, I thought, “What if they don’t accept me?” My mum’s words repeated in my mind, “Just be patient and kind.”
On the first day, Leo, a thin boy with big eyes, sat in the corner, waving his hands quickly like butterfly wings. I took a deep breath and sat beside him, rolling a soft ball towards him. He glanced (扫视) up, silent. I rolled it again, but still nothing happened. For the third time, he pushed it back! A smile appeared on his face, like a shy star. My heart melted (融化).
Over five weeks, we built wooden towers, drew rainbows, and sang songs. Gradually, Leo started looking at me when I spoke. One morning, he said “hi” to me — so soft, yet it hit my heart. His teacher said he seldom spoke to others. Pride filled my heart.
Then came the day Leo handed me a drawing, two persons holding hands. He pointed to one, saying “you”, and then the other, saying “me”. My tears came out. And I knew it was a bridge of trust.
Even now, I send Leo postcards monthly. His mum says he waits by the door, eyes bright, for the postman.
This experience taught me the true magic of love and patience. I used to judge others quickly, but my experience at Sunflower Camp changed me. Most importantly, it also inspired Leo. Years later, he decided to join me in volunteering at the camp. I came to understand that even small acts, when done with patience, could build great connections.

8. Why did the writer feel proud five weeks later?
A. Because Leo made many friends. B. Because Leo spoke to the writer.
C. Because Leo drew a beautiful picture. D. Because Leo learned to sing songs.
9. What will probably happen next?
A. Leo will stop waiting for postcards. B. The writer will visit Leo in person.
C. Leo will help out at the camp. D. The writer will forget about Leo.
10. What is the best title for the text?

Last month we asked our students about their free-time activities. Our questions were about exercise, use of the Internet and watching TV. ____16____
We have found that only fifteen percent of our students exercise every day. Forty-five percent exercise four to six times a week. Twenty percent exercise only one to three times a week. ____17____
We all know that many students often go online, but we are surprised that eighty percent of them use the Internet every day. ____18____ They mainly use it for fun and homework.
The answers to our question about watching TV are also interesting. Eighty-five percent of the students watch TV one to three times a week. Thirteen percent watch TV four to six times a week. And two percent watch TV every day! ____19____
It is good to relax by using the Internet or watching game shows, but we think the best way to relax is through exercise. It is healthy for the mind and body. Exercise such as playing sports is fun, and you can spend time with your friends and family as you play together. ____20____ So start exercising before it’s too late!
A. Here are the results.
B. Remember: Old habits die hard.
C. And twenty percent do not exercise at all.
D. The other twenty percent use it at least three or four times a week.
E. Although many students like to watch sports, game shows are the most popular.
A 17. C 18. D 19. E 20. B
根据第一段最后一句“Our questions were about exercise, use of the Internet and watching TV.”
根据第二段中“only fifteen percent...exercise every day”“Forty-five percent exercise four to six times a week”“Twenty percent exercise only one to three times a week”可知,前三项数据相加为80%,尚缺20%的学生未提及。
根据第三段第二句“eighty percent of them use the Internet every day”可知,80%的学生每天都上网,本段后文应说明另外20%学生的情况。
根据第五段第三句“Exercise such as playing sports is fun, and you can spend time with your friends and family as you play together.”和最后一句“So start exercising before it’s too late!”
