When Chen Dan gazed upon the Pyramid of Khafre and the Great Sphinx, she felt the pages of history textbooks come to life.
In the Sahara, she enjoyed a peaceful and secluded afternoon, riding in a vehicle at high speed through the desert and enjoying the sunset, disconnected from the world as her mobile phone had no signal. These are unforgettable memories from her 15-day journey across Egypt with her friends in March.“I'm most impressed by Egyptian hospitality,” says the 32-year-old traveler from Hefei,Anhui Province.
During the trip, she rubbed elbows with the locals.A group of youngsters struck up conversations, took photos and waved goodbye as they parted ways on opposite sides of the road.At a pastry shop, kind strangers offered to translate the menu when they noticed the group's difficulty in reading it.
Like Chen, more Chinese tourists are traveling to Egypt to explore the mysterious pyramids, temples, museums and the Nile River. The number of Chinese visitors to Egypt was 265,000 from January to September,an increase of 65 percent compared to the same period last year.
Amr El-Kady,CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, estimates that the country will receive over 300,000 Chinese tourists by the end of this year, aiming for over 15 million global visitors. The Tourism Bureau will continue to strengthen cooperation with Chinese authorities and tourism operators. They will participate in tourism fairs in China and enhance their marketing strategies through conferences and seminars.
“Tourism acts as a vital bridge, fostering cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between the two countries,” says Sherif Fathy,Egypt's minister of tourism and antiquities (文物).He recently attended the China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market 2024 in Beijing.
He says that as one of the countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative,Egypt views China as a key partner in businesses such as tourism.Egypt has released a series of initiatives and measures to attract more Chinese tourists.
1.What does the underlined word in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Undisturbed. B.Tough.
C.Disappointed. D.Entertaining.
根据画线词所在句中的“disconnected from the world as her mobile phone had no signal”可知,因为手机没有信号,所以她与世界隔绝。 故选A。
答案 A
2.What is the Egyptians' attitude to Chen?
A.Indifferent. B.Distant.
C.Sensitive. D.Enthusiastic.
第三段中描述了埃及人对陈丹的态度:当地年轻人主动交谈、拍照并挥手告别(struck up conversations, took photos and waved goodbye);陌生人主动帮忙翻译菜单(strangers offered to translate the menu)。
3.Why will the Egyptian Tourism Bureau participate in tourism fairs in China?
A.They want to sell more souvenirs to Chinese people.
B.They want to attract more Chinese to Egypt.
C.They hope more Egyptians will visit China.
D.They hope to learn more marketing strategies.
埃及旅游局的举措是:加强与中国官方和旅游运营商的合作(strengthen cooperation with Chinese authorities and tourism operators)、参加中国的旅游交易会(participate in tourism fairs in China)、通过会议和研讨会完善营销策略(enhance their marketing strategies through conferences and seminars)。
4.Which of the following might be the best title of the article?
A.Chinese Tourists Experience Ancient Egypt Coming to Life
B.Chinese Tourists Flooding into the World's Destinations
C.Egyptians Present Hospitality to Visiting Tourists
D.Egypt Is Making Full Efforts to Develop Its Tourism
故选A。
答案 A
B
(2026·河南郑州第一次质检)A journey to Italy is set to become even more expensive.Last summer, the country introduced a proposal to raise the tourist tax.Currently, many Italian cities charge taxes of up to 5 euros for an overnight stay. The new plan introduces a tiered (阶梯式的) system:5 euros per night for economy rooms under 100 euros,10 euros for standard rooms priced between 100 and 400 euros,15 euros for high-end rooms ranging from 400 to 750 euros and 25 euros for luxury accommodations above 750 euros.
Italy, with its rich cultural heritage and amazing coastlines, has always been a top spot for tourists. However, the increasing number of visitors is becoming overwhelming.According to the World Tourism Organization,Italy welcomed 57.2 million foreign tourists in 2023,which has led to several issued.Fortune Magazine reported loud noise, crowded spaces, important shops being replaced by souvenir stalls and rising rents driven by apartments being changed into short-term rentals (出租房).
The suggested tax aims to tackle the challenges posed by overtourism. However, some tourists are opposed to the high tax.“Increasing the tax would be profiteering (牟取暴利).I would go elsewhere,to other countries that don't have such a tax,” Fabea Wiegand from Switzerland told Fortune Magazine.
While introducing a tourist tax is a method used by many countries to manage tourist numbers,it is essential not to take it to extremes. The Economist emphasizes the crucial role policymakers play in determining the lever of tourism tax.It is important to set a tax that is affordable for most tourists. For instance,Venice charges a day pass of only 5 euros.Despite its small amount, this fee can contribute to enhancing local services such as waste management and heritage preservation, benefiting both residents and visitors.
Even though high tax may prevent some tourists from going to certain destinations, tourism tax is “not a cause for despair” for countries, said The Economist. If tourists choose other destinations due to the tax,lesser-known areas could seize the chance to attract visitors.Meanwhile, popular destinations could adapt by promoting more affordable choices to tourists, striking a balance between locals' and visitors' needs and promoting sustainable tourism.
5.What does the underlined word “overwhelming” in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Enormous. B.Powerful.
C.Frightening. D.Confusing.
画线词在句中作表语,形容游客数量“the increasing number of visitors”。 故选A。
答案 A
6.Why did Italy consider introducing a higher tax?
A.To keep visitors from visiting Italy.
B.To increase the profits from tourism.
C.To deal with problems caused by overtourism.
D.To reduce unfair competition in the tourism industry.
文章第三段明确提到“The suggested tax aims to tackle the challenges posed by overtourism.”,这说明意大利考虑提高旅游税是为了解决过度旅游带来的问题。C选项是对文中“aims to tackle the challenges posed by overtourism”的同义转述。故选C。
答案 C
7.What was Fabea Wiegand's toward raising the tourist tax?
A.Objective. B.Disapproving.
C.Sympathetic. D.Indifferent.
文章第三段引用了Fabea Wiegand的话“Increasing the tax would be profiteering.I would go elsewhere,to other countries that don't have such a tax”。
8.What does The Economist think about the tourist tax?
A.It may negatively affect local services.
B.It will be harmful to sustainable tourism.
C.It will increase the inflow of foreign visitors.
D.It may be beneficial to less popular destinations.
文章最后一段提到The Economist的观点,其中“lesser-known areas could seize the chance to attract visitors”(不太知名的地区可以抓住机会吸引游客)说明了The Economist认为受欢迎地区的旅游税对于不那么受欢迎的地方来说是有好处的,故选D。
答案 D
C
(2025·甘肃兰州高三月考)In a typical residential area of Hong Kong(HK),the basketball courts at Kennedy Town Playground (KTP) are surprisingly busy—not with players, but with tourists.Located on a hill, the courts provide great views of the Hong Kong skyline, making them an unexpected attraction.
This trend began with a hot post on the social media, turning the playground into a unique spot for photo opportunities. The post received over 13,000 likes and 15,000 saves, illustrating the concept of “planting grass”.
“Planting grass”,or zhongcao, refers to recommending products or experiences to make others interested in trying them. This phenomenon has become a key driver of tourism and commerce, creating what's now called the “grass planting economy”,which means recommendation-based business models. In Fujian, the popularity of a folk tradition known as zanhuawei has turned Quanzhou into a vibrant cultural destination.Similarly,Jingdezhen in Jiangxi, famous for its porcelain art,has become popular among young travelers due to “planting grass” posts.
The charm of this model comes from how real it feels:Millions of users act as city_ambassadors,sharing personal recommendations.Different from traditional tours, the trips described in these posts feature the hidden charm of the cities and build meaningful connections with local culture, boosting tourism, according to Xinhua.
This phenomenon is not limited to Chinese social media, however.Globally, platforms have also driven recommendation-based marketing.Data analysis company DataReportal revealed that in 2023,62.2 percent of a social media platform users followed or researched brands through the platform, highlighting its influence on purchasing behavior.
While “planting grass” can help the economy grow,it also carries some risks.Following trends without caution may lead to overcrowding and danger. In Hong Kong,21 popular locations recommended on social media often attract tourists who crowd narrow sidewalks, blocking locals—particularly the elderly—from passing through.
9.What makes the basketball courts at KTP popular with tourists?
A.Interesting activities.
B.The historical significance.
C.Great views of the HK skyline.
D.Various shopping malls.
根据第一段中的 “Located on a hill, the courts provide great views of the Hong Kong skyline, making them an unexpected attraction.”
10.Why does the author mention Quanzhou and Jingdezhen?
A.To give reasons.
B.To give examples.
C.To make comparisons.
D.To make advertisements.
11.What does the underlined term “city ambassadors” in paragraph 4 refer to?
A.Celebrities promoting a city.
B.Travel agents specializing in city tours.
C.Users sharing their own recommendations.
D.Officials representing a city's government.
12.How is the text structured?
A.Problem—Cause—Impact—Solution.
B.Cause—Effect—Example—Conclusion.
C.Introduction—Benefit—Problem—Cause.
D.Phenomenon—Definition—Impact—Problem.
Ⅱ.七选五
(2025·广东四校期末联考)On July 4,1972,a pair of young newlyweds named Tony and Maureen were on the driveway of a family home in the south of England.__13__ Or somewhere. They had a trunk full of food, cooking equipment and some sleeping bags. They believed that their journey across Asia would be nothing more than a little adventure before they settled down to a steady,middle-class life in England.
And it turned out to be just the kind of adventure the couple longed for. They got caught in a snowstorm in the Italian Alps, bumped into a motorcycle in Iran, then sold their car. From there,it was a bus to Pakistan, then on to India. The couple hitchhiked south across Thailand and on through Malaysia and Singapore.__14__
Tony and Maureen each lost more than ten pounds in the five and a half months it took them to get from England to Australia.__15__ And by the time they made it to Sydney they had precisely twenty-seven cents left to sustain them.
__16__ The bookshops they could have visited back in England in 1972 would have had precious little to offer in the way of practical advice for their route.
But that's not to say that Tony and Maureen had nothing to guide them.As they would discover soon, their single best source of information was the other travelers they'd encounter on the road.__17__ And these notes would prove to be a very valuable resource for the book Across Asia on the Cheap, beginning of their Lonely Planet guidebooks—the gospel (真理) of adventure travel for tens of millions of readers.
A.They would also exchange information.
B.They once wanted to stop their journey.
C.They'd covered over ten thousand miles.
