I was born in 2010 in the countryside, which may be why I always felt a little out of step with the times. Throughout my childhood, I had never seen tall buildings or had a smartphone. The old computer we had at home was my only window to the online world, which I began exploring at the age of 8. My parents were busy during the day, so surfing the internet was a big deal for me. I always turned off the computer before they got home to let it cool down and hide what I had been doing all day.
I feel like the online vibe was much more inclusive back then. I still remember the friendly debates about the various adaptations of Legends of the Condor Heroes. Everyone would share their thoughts and reasons. Just the other day, I saw a similar question on Xiaohongshu, but the discussion quickly turned into heated arguments. Back then, sharing resources for online novels or gaming strategies was common, but now, such requests can easily trigger online debates.
My parents loved playing Stephen Chow movies at home, which turned me into a belated fan of these classic 1990s Hong Kong comedies. At the core of his humor lies tragedy, yet his films also taught me simple values: be brave, be resilient, stay optimistic, and never give up on your dreams. To me, Stephen Chow feels like an old friend I’ve known for years — a forever-young legend. I wish I had been born earlier, in that golden era.
I’d describe myself as a severe nostalgia (怀旧) addict, especially when it comes to 90s architecture. Just looking at images of those buildings or walking near them brings me a sense of comfort. Though they’ve become relics of the past, nothing is truly forgotten.
24. What can be inferred about the author’s childhood from the first paragraph?
A. He had no idea about the online world. B. His life kept pace with the times.
C. His parents were too busy to look after him. D. He had limited access to the internet.
25. What does the author mean by saying “the online vibe was much more inclusive back then”?
A. More people were willing to share. B. It is easier to reach an agreement.
C. Different viewpoints could be respected. D. There were more online platforms.
26. What does the author think of Stephen Chow’s films?
A. They only appeal to young people. B. They are tragedies with subtle humor.
C. They are difficult to understand today. D. They combine humor with deep meaning.
27. Which of the following best describes the author’s overall tone in the passage?
A. Hopeful. B. Emotional. C. Humorous. D. Critical.
C
Museums have long been considered as cultural storehouses that preserve and exhibit history, art and scientific discoveries. Yet, while some children frequently visit museums with their families, others — especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds — may never have the opportunity to engage with these rich cultural resources. This disparity can create gaps in cultural knowledge, academic engagement and even self-confidence.
Professor Anik Meunier at the Université du Québec à Montréal studies how museum visits can enhance student engagement in the classroom and address social inequalities. She has established the School at the Museum program with her colleagues to integrate museum education into the school curriculum (课程) for primary and secondary schools in Montreal. “Research indicates that actions aimed at improving educational success must be carried out regularly and at a pace that allows the acquisition of new attitudes, understandings or behaviours among the target population,” explains Anik. To this end, School at the Museum organises regular visits to museums throughout the year. This provides students with consistent opportunities to engage with cultural and educational resources outside the classroom.
Anik and her colleagues found that students who attended museums showed greater emotional, behavioural and cognitive engagement than before. They observed that the visits created a stronger sense of connection to the museum environment and its resources, enriching students’ cultural knowledge and expanding their vocabulary. Most importantly, after participating in School at the Museum, students who had had little prior exposure to museums displayed equal engagement to their classmates who had visited museums with family or friends.
“To make the most of the educational value, one of the most important aspects of planning a museum trip is choosing the right museum and program for students’ needs. Most museums offer age-specific educational programs for school groups,” says Anik. “A visit to a museum can relate closely to courses in many subjects, such as history, science and art, and stimulate interdisciplinary approaches.”
28. What does the underlined word “disparity” in paragraph l refer to?
A. The lack of scientific resources. B. The difference in cultural backgrounds.
C. The unequal chance to access museums. D. The uneven level of family involvement.
29. What is the goal of the School at the Museum program?
A. To deepen students’ insight into education. B. To enhance learning through museum visits.
C. To raise awareness of the value of museums. D. To promote students’ classroom engagement.
30. What is the function of paragraph 3?
A. Showing potential application of the finding. B. Offering additional background information.
C. Giving examples to introduce the program. D. Providing evidence to support the research.
31. What message does Anik try to convey in the last paragraph?
A. Turning a museum trip into an active lesson with good planning.
B. Involving more school students in various museum programs.
C. Making school subjects more popular with young museum-goers.
D. Stimulating students’ interest in planning a suitable museum visit.
D
Swindale Beck meanders (蜿蜒) through fields, farmland and valleys. However, not long ago, the river took a far more straight course.
A healthy river should be winding, free flowing and filled with wildlife. The ideal river is “very dynamic, messy and chaotic”, says Glen Swainson, a manager of RSPB. In Britain, however, 97% of rivers are broken up by artificial barriers. And for centuries rivers have been slowly artificially straightened to stop water from flooding and spilling onto farmland and houses.
But removing a river’s natural meanders has in fact, achieved the opposite effect. Instead, it has disrupted the flow of rivers and destroyed water habitats, water quality and heightened flood risk. As the poor health of Europe’s rivers and streams continues to make news, communities are turning towards natural solutions to restore their rivers.
According to Tom Hayek, a natural flood management specialist, adding meanders into rivers has two benefits — it changes both the volume and the speed of water. Firstly, it decreases what’s known as flow conveyance. “When the length of the river is increased, you spread water over a wider area. This allows more water to sit up in the headwaters.” The second impact is on speed. Put simply, the more structure you add to the shape of a river, the slower the water will move down it. If it’s straight, water will “fly” through, says Hayek. When the flow of water is slowed, it creates deeper pools for fish to gather and rest.
With meanders added to Swindale Beck, the results were astonishing, says Annabel Rushton, a visitor experience manager. “Within three months of that river being re-wiggled, the salmon (鲑鱼) were spawning (产卵) in that one kilometre area for the first time in over 150 years,” she says. Scientists have also noted an increase in fish gathering. Then, there were the knock-on effects. Water-loving plants returned, providing cover for young fish to feed and hide.
32. Why were many rivers in Britain artificially straightened in the past?
A. To increase the natural flow of rivers. B. To improve water habitats for wildlife.
C. To create barriers for flood management. D. To protect people and land from floods.
33. What problem may be caused by removing a river’s meanders?
A. Lower water levels. B. Poorer farming land. C. Worse water quality. D. Drier wildlife habitats.
34. What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A. The benefits of adding meanders. B. The impacts of straightening rivers.
C. The examples of controlling floods. D. The needs of increasing water speed.
35. What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A. Nature conservation is often a long game. B. Species co-exist and function as a whole.
C. Eco-recovery can happen at a high speed. D. Bio-diversity relies on human intervention.

Every New Year’s Eve, as a family tradition, everyone — uncles, aunts, cousins — gathers at one house to celebrate the coming of the new year, having a big dinner and doing the countdown. This year, the gathering would be held in Alex’s home and he was so looking forward to it.
Preparing a big dinner is never easy. Mom started the rush early. She was in the kitchen, as busy as a bee. “I hope Dad will be back soon,” Mom said to Alex. Dad was a mechanic, responsible for a district’s power lines. “He promised he’d get off work at four.” Alex replied and volunteered to be the “decoration helper”.
At 6:00, the bell rang. It was Aunt Jenny and Uncle Mark, but no Dad. By 6:30, the house was well-decorated and Alex had hung a red lantern high above the doorway, a symbol of happiness and reunion. Mom managed to finish the cooking when the bell rang again. It was Grandma and Grandpa, together with Uncle Jack’s family. Still no Dad. Mom was worried, “The cold wind is getting stronger tonight.”
While waiting for Dad, Alex turned on the music and kept busy chatting with all the guests about holidays and his school life. Mom texted and called Dad, but, no answer.
At 7:15, stomachs made noise louder than the music. Alex found Mom in the bedroom and he heard Dad say “Sorry” over the phone. Mom handed the phone to Alex, disappointment written on her face. “What happened, Dad?” Dad shouted over the wind, “The main power line is broken! All the workers are here. We have to fix it, or many people will have a cold and dark night. I am so sorry, but you know... this is my duty.”
Looking at Mom, Alex felt it was now his job to keep the evening alive. “Well, ” Alex replied, “Dad, take your time and take care of yourself. I will help Mom make sure everything goes well. ”

1. 续写词数应为150左右;

Asking for Psychological Help: Weakness or Growth?
Facing moments of stress or anxiety, many students shy away from seeking help, fearing it may label them as weak. However, I firmly believe that asking for psychological help is a remarkable sign of growth.
Firstly, it reflects our self-awareness that we can identify our emotional states, which is a crucial step towards personal development. Secondly, by reaching out for help, we show our determination to overcome difficulties and improve ourselves. Lastly, seeking psychological assistance equips us with coping strategies, enabling us to better handle challenges.
In conclusion, don’t let the fear of being seen as weak hold you back. Let’s embrace this opportunity for a healthier and more mature self.
第二节 (满分 25 分)
“Mom, shall we start the dinner?” asked Alex. Mom nodded, her eyes still reflecting a trace of worry. Alex quickly guided everyone to the dining table with a warm smile. He raised his glass and said, “Let’s toast to a wonderful new year, even though Dad can’t be with us right now. He’s out there making sure others can have a bright and warm night. He’s our hero!” The room filled with applause and cheers. Everyone started to enjoy the delicious food, sharing stories and laughter, making the best of the moment.
At 11:50, the door opened and in came Dad, looking tired. His face was covered with dirt and sweat, but his eyes shone with a sense of accomplishment. Alex rushed to him and gave him a big hug. Dad smiled weakly and said, “I’m sorry I’m late. But we finally fixed the power line.” Mom walked over and wiped the dirt off Dad’s face. “You did a great job, honey.” she said softly. As the clock struck midnight, they all shouted “Happy New Year!” and hugged each other tightly, feeling the warmth of family and the joy of a new beginning.

【答案】Possible version:
