As more and more people have a trip around the world, it is necessary for them to know what to do in different countries and how to deal with cultural differences. Here are different cultures from three countries.
Canadians are known for being easy to get along with and very polite in daily life. You’ll often see them say hello to each other even if they are strangers. When men and women meet, women usually hold out their hands first. If a woman doesn’t want to shake hands, she can just nod and smile. If a man wears gloves, he should take them off before shaking hands.
Brazilians are very friendly and they always get ready to say hello to others. They stand very close to each other when speaking and may touch each other’s arms or backs. This is their way of being warm and open, so don’t step back—they won’t think you’re rude. And if you go to a business meeting in Brazil, you are not expected to take a present. In fact, bringing one might make them feel a little uncomfortable. Instead, you can focus on being friendly and listening carefully.
When you meet Indians, it is important to say hello to the oldest person first. But you’d better not hold out your left hand when you say hello, because it is impolite. Also, many Indians are enthusiastic and they like to say hello actively and have a conversation with you when you travel in India. They might ask you questions about your country, so feel free to share—they’ll be happy to listen!
Remember, there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to greet others—just different ways. Keeping an open mind and trying to follow local customs will help you make new friends and have great memories wherever you go!
26. What will Canadian women do if they don’t want to shake hands?
A. Say hello to others. B. Nod and smile. C. Touch others’ arms. D. Wear a pair of gloves.
27. Match the countries with the customs and choose the right answer.
①India a.Men take off gloves before shaking hands.
②Canada b.People stand very close when speaking.
③Brazil c.Greet the oldest person first.
A. ①-c;②-b;③-a B. ①-b;②-c;③-a C. ①-c;②-a;③-b D. ①-a;②-c;③-b
28. What does the underlined word “enthusiastic” probably mean?
A. Shy and quiet. B. Friendly and warm. C. Rude and cold. D. Silent and calm.
29. Why shouldn’t you hold out your left hand when greeting Indians?
A. Because they don’t like shaking hands. B. Because it is considered impolite.
C. Because they prefer nodding and smiling. D. Because they only greet the oldest first.
30. What’s the structure of the Passage?
A. B. C. D.

These days some school children can’t get on with their parents, and even argue with their parents. If it’s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here is some advice for you on how to talk with your parents, and have a good relationship between you and your parents when the argument happens.
First, find a right time. As for you, don’t get close to your parents when you are angry. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy, or you can’t express yourself well if you are angry. As for your parents, you should choose a weekend or the time your parents are not so busy. If they are free, they may have a good feeling and you may have a happy talk.
Second, keep your voice and body language respectful. No shouting or unkind body language. A good relationship is always based on respect and understanding. If you always show your kindness and respect to your parents, you will have a good relationship with them.
Third, do something for your parents, like doing chores with them or making some tea for them. Actions speak louder than words. Doing chores or making some tea shows you care about your parents.

A. ①-c;②-b;③-a B. ①-b;②-c;③-a C. ①-c;②-a;③-b D. ①-a;②-c;③-b
28. What does the underlined word “enthusiastic” probably mean?
A. Shy and quiet. B. Friendly and warm. C. Rude and cold. D. Silent and calm.
29. Why shouldn’t you hold out your left hand when greeting Indians?
A. Because they don’t like shaking hands. B. Because it is considered impolite.

短文中明确指出:“If a woman doesn’t want to shake hands, she can just nod and smile.” 因此选B。
印度:文中提到“say hello to the oldest person first”,所以①对应c。加拿大:文中说“If a man wears gloves, he should take them off before shaking hands.”,所以②对应a。巴西:文中说“They stand very close to each other when speaking”,所以③对应b。
文中说“many Indians are enthusiastic and they like to say hello actively and have a conversation with you”,说明他们是主动、友好的,因此enthusiastic意为“热情的、友好的”,选B。
短文明示:“you’d better not hold out your left hand when you say hello, because it is impolite.”

B“I still remember a heavy typhoon that hit my hometown last summer.”(我仍然记得去年夏天袭击我家乡的一场强台风)与后文形成总分关系,符合逻辑。
第二段描述了台风带来的强风、大雨,空白处后说“Many tree branches broke down and some streets were full of water.”。 E“The whole city was greatly affected by the bad weather.”(整个城市都受到恶劣天气的严重影响)与后文形成因果关系,符合逻辑。
第三段说“Although natural disasters are scary, people never give up.”,空白处后说“Volunteers delivered food and clean water to people in need.”。
第四段说“At school, our teachers teach us lots of safety knowledge.”,空白处后说“If floods come, we must move to higher places quickly.”。 D“When an earthquake happens, we should hide under strong desks and keep away from windows.”(当地震发生时,我们应该躲在结实的桌子下面并远离窗户)与后文形成并列,共同举例说明不同灾害的自救方法,符合逻辑。

因为本句为主语“It”作主语的被动语态“It was written…”,空后为动作发生者“the American writer…”,所以选择by。
固定搭配“on one’s way back”(在某人回程的路上/回来的路上),所以选择back。
主句the fish is eaten by sharks语义完整,空格处用来表示这件事带来的自然而然的结果。
固定搭配“be tired of sth.”(对……
