Time for school, and it's no surprise that many of us are determined to study smarter instead of longer. But which study tips and tricks actually work scientifically and can help you get those perfect grades? First stop research shows that study sessions are most effective in small, short instead of cramping. In a ten hour study session, it's much more effective to spread IT out into twenty thirty minute sessions over a few weeks. This is because your brain is Better. Adding coding information into the synapse is, in short, repeated sessions as opposed to one large one. And this is why even learning different skills, whether it's swimming, tennis or a singing lesson, often follows the same format and cramping IT turns out this is link grades. After prolonged nock nal study sessions, reasoning and memory may be negatively affected for up to four whole days. Instead, setting up specific times in a day or during the week just to study primes your brain by creating a routine. And over time, study actually becomes easier as your brain is trained to learn in those moments. And while many of us spend hours passively rereading our notes or highlighting a textbook, studies have shown this to be in effective IT doesn't improve your understanding of topics, nor does IT link key concepts together. IT can even be detrimental as IT draws your attention to less important information. Flash cards, on the other hand, are proven to be excEllent memory reinforcement tools, whether during your scheduled at times or during off times, like a bus ride home. IT also helps to have specific goal for each study session. Instead of endlessly studying, pick one aspect you'll focus on whether it's balancing chemical equations or learning how to conjugate french verbs. If you can explain IT simply, then you don't understand IT well enough in studies where individuals were asked to learn a passage, and then half were told that they would be tested on the material, while the other half were told they would have to teach you to other students. Participants expecting to teach IT did much Better at understanding the main points when you're expecting to teach your brain organizes the information in the more logical, coherent structure, of course, practice, practice, practice. Not only do you practice, test, put your brain in the environment, but even if you make mistakes, they help identify gaps in your knowledge. Practice tests have also been shown to increase confidence, thereby leading to Better performance. So where should you be studying? Research shows that having a dated sacred spot for study that's well equipped ed with every tall you might need is best, just like setting times. This primes are brain for studying. Have an awesome study play list, not so fast. Well, some studies have shown that certain types of classical music can help improve concentration. A recent studies have shown that learning with rethoric, background noise can be detrimental to focus, and those not using music feared much Better. And if you haven't already put away your phone, this is an no brainer, but your text and social media notifications severely decrease concentration. Of course, exams can be extremely stressful. So if you want some tips on how to deal with exam anxiety for that, link in the description, and a big thank you to TD bank for sponsoring this video. $Hello, everybody, I have a question for you. How do you learn english with movies? When some people try to learn english with movies, they use subtitles. The problem is that when you watching a movie with subtitles, you aren't practicing your listening skills. Instead, you're practicing your reading skills. This is not what you want. Listening is much more difficult than reading. So when you learn english, you should do more listening than reading. This is why some people watch movies twice. They watch a movie with subtitles first, then they watch the same movie again without the subtitles to practice listening. Now this is an effective way to improve your listening, but I think it's really boring to watch. Movie is twice. So personally, I never use this approach is not for me. So today I want to share with you a new approach. This approach is pretty effective in improving your listening and vocabulary. And with this approach, you don't have to watch movies twice. Are you ready to learn about this approach? Here's what IT is, watching movies with delayed subtitles. To use this support, you need a movie player that can delay subtitles. Now, before you watch a movie, turn on the english subtitles, and then delay the subtitles for about two seconds. This will make the subtitles appear two seconds later than usual. Let me show you a movie clip so that you know what is like to watch a movie with delays up titles. Harry, what happened? He was a friend and he betrayed them. He was that friend. I hope he finds me, because when he does, i'm going to be ready. When he does, i'm going . to Kevin. So what do you need to do when watching a movie this way? Well, it's simple. First of all, when you hear an actor speaks, try to listen with full attention. Don't worry that you may not understand. You can read the subtitles later when they appear. Now if you can understand the actor, then don't look at the subtitles. Read the subtitles only if you done. Understand if the actor is talking really fast. If you feel like you need more time to read, you can post the movie before you read the subtitles. Now let me show you another movie clip. This time, try not to read the subtitles unless you don't understand. Are you ready? Here we go. What's going on with you? Price asked. What you mean? nothing. Okay, my mistake. Why would you . even think that? No reason, just that you talk about . him . all time. I do. 哼。那i guess it's something about his eyes or maybe a smile。How did you do? Were you able to understand the clip without reading the titles if you had to read the subtitles? That's okay. For most english students, movies are really difficult to understand. In fact, even native speakers have trouble understanding movies sometimes. So in the beginning, you may have to read subtitles almost all the time. That's okay. Listening is a very difficult skills to improve, so make sure you practice a lot and do IT regularly. And over time you're listening and your vocabulary will get Better. All right? That was an overview of how to learn english with movies. If you want to start using this technique, there is some additional information you may need to know first, so if you want to learn more, click here to go to my website to learn more.
