内容正文:

okay. So today's topic is resilience, strength. And the reason why I bring up this topic is because my daughter is turning sixteen this year and only I know what you're thinking. You're so old tables. Yes, I am. She's gna be celebrating her sweet sixteen this year, and that age seems to be when you struggle the most with, am I strong enough to handle this? Am I strong enough to handle that? Why does this bother me so much? Why is this failure hitting me so hard? Why am I not able to get out of this thing that I mean, and IT puts me in, in a position where I have to advise her a lot. Also, a lot of my musician who bears so, who bet is like Younger musicians, they will reach out to me during the times and ask me for advice. I swear, even who bets that I don't know personally, they will get my number from someone and then call me, which I welcome, because if they need help, I wanna be able to give to them. I was was in the same position many times, and unfortunately for me, I didn't have any sludin base that went through what I went through. So I didn't have anyone to really advise me during difficult times anyways, the reason why a lot of these people come to me for advice because I have this image, uh, in the industry as someone who went through a whole letter ship. It's not a title that is a fun title to have. But IT is something that people see me as, and they also see me as someone who is mentally strong in korean. They va, i'm not sure if it's accurate because I wouldn't say that i'm mentally strong. It's just that I am somehow, for some reason, really good at going to zero and then coming back up. I have no idea when this started or if I was born with IT or if I was something from my environment. I do have that. I am very confident that I can lose IT all and then get IT all back through hard work. I am very difficult to break my wife. If she's listening to this podcast right now, we'll think to herself, why, why? Why is my husband talking to you about strength, about resilience? Because my wife has seen me in so many moments of weakness that he probably won't believe that i'm talking to you right now about this topic because SHE seemed me afraid to get in a car. SHE drives. I don't know how to drive. I'm in my forties and I still don't know how to drive. I've never learned because I am afraid of speed. You put me in anything fast, and you will see me at my weakest movie, be at a car, a roller coaster plane, anything that moves fast, even an elevator. If IT moves, I swear, skyscrapers. The elevators tend to move a lot faster. I would like, hold one side of the wall behind me, and I be like glue to the wall because i'm scared. I'm afraid of speed. I'm afraid of heights. I can't go to tall buildings. I can't. I've never gone to the empire state building, to the top of the empire state building. I love new york, and i've been there so many times, but I will never go up. Even if my friends always go, they're like, let's go. I will never go with them. I'll just wait for them down there, because I am afraid of heights. I'm afraid of insects, bugs. I'm afraid of big, like really big animals. I'm afraid of a lot of things. Hello, hello everyone, welcome back to easy english podcast with ya. You're go to spot for learning real everyday english that you can use right now. No boring textbook, no complicated jargon, just simple fun conversations with me and my friend amy. I'm your host ira, and i'm so thrilled here here today. Hi everyone. I'm amen. And if you've ever heard native english speakers talk and thought, what is that phrase even mean? Or if you've avoided using phrasal verbs because they seem confusing or hard to remember, this episode is one hundred percent for you. That's exactly right. amen. Today we're diving deep into everyday freezer verbs. You actually use the ones we say in coffee shops, at work, with friends on the street every single day. Freezer vers don't have to be scary. And we're here to prove IT by breaking down the most common ones. How do you use them and exactly when to say them in real life? We sure are. We're not just listing random freezer verbs. We will break down each one with simple definitions, real life examples, and even act out little conversations to show you how they fit naturally. By the end of this episode, you'll be able to use these freezer verbs in your own chats with confidence. no stress. And as always, all the freezer verbs we talk about today are on screen right now and in the description box below, so you can save them, write them down or even print them out to practice later. No need to rush to take notes. We've got you covered. All right. Let's jump into easy, everyday phrasal verbs together. amen. Let's start with the basics for anyone who's new here. What exactly is a phrase verb? Keep its super simple. No big explanations. Great question. Ie, a phrasal verb is just a verb plus one or two small words like up, down, on, off, out, in or with. Together they make a new meaning. It's not just the verb by itself, it's the whole phrase in the best part. The everyday ones we use are easy to remember, and you'll hear them everywhere. Let's start with the most common phrasal verbs first. The ones we use multiple times a day. perfect. Let's start with the top ones. And for each, let's do definition, example, sentence and a little real life use, let's kick IT off with pick up. I hear this one all the time. Yes, pick up is everywhere. IT has a few simple everyday meanings. So we'll stick to the two most common first meaning, to get something or someone from a place. For example, I need to pick up coffee on my way to work, or can you pick up my sister from school? Second, meaning to learn something easily without trying too hard. Like SHE picked up english really fast when he moved to canada. Super simple. And we say this all the time. That's such a good one. I use pick up, forgetting things all the time. Let's move to another super common one, figure out. I think this is when learners need to know, because we use IT for problems or decisions. Exactly figure out is to understand something or solve a problem. It's perfect for everyday life definition to find the answer to something or understand something that's confusing. Example, I can't figure out how to use this new phone, or we need to figure out where to go for dinner tonight. It's casual, it's natural, and you can use IT with friends at work anywhere. Love that. Figure out is when I use every single day. Next, let's do chill out. This is a fun one. Super casual for hanging out with friends. Chill out is the ultimate casual phrase over verb, two main meanings, both super common. First, to relax or hang out with no plans. Example, we are just going to chill out at home and watch a movie tonight. Second, to calm down. If someone's upset or stressed, like chill out, it's not a big deal. We have plenty of time. It's informal. So use IT with friends and family, not in super formal work situations. That's a quick tip, important tip, knowing when to use them. Formal versus casual is key. Alright, next race of verb, give up this one, simple. And we use IT for quitting something. Give up is to stop doing something because it's hard, or to quit habit definition to stop trying or stop doing something permanently. Example, I tried to learn the guitar, but I gave up after a month. Or he gave up smoking last year and he feels so much Better. It's straight forward. And you can use IT in any situation, casual or a little more formal. perfect. Let's keep going with. Look forward to this one's great for talking about things you're excited about and it's so useful for emails . or casual chats. Look forward to is one of my favorites. IT means to be excited about something that's going to happen in the future. Important note, we always use the ING form of the verb after IT example. I'm looking forward to the weekend. I need a break, or we're looking forward to meeting your new friend. You can use this with friends and working emails with family. Its version and IT makes your english sound more natural. That's a keynote about the I. N. G. form. Learners often forget that. So that's super helpful. Next, let's do put off this ones for procrastinating, which I think we all do sometimes. Oh, put off is all about procrastinating. IT means to delay doing something to do IT later instead of now. Definition to postponed and action or task to a later time. Example, I keep putting off cleaning my room. I just don't want to do IT. Or we had to put off the meeting because the boss sick. It's casual, and you can use IT for small things, cleaning or bigger things, meetings. perfect for everyday life related for everyone. All right, let's do take care of this ones for caring for people or things. And it's so common. Take care of is to look after someone or something, to make sure they're OK or in good condition definition to be responsible for someone or something or to do what's needed for them. Example, can you take care of my dog while i'm on vacation? Or I need to take care of this area before I go home. It's another visual one. Use IT for pets, kids, irans plants, anything. And a quick bonus. We say take care when we say goodby. E which is the short version. super common. Yes, take care is such a common goodbye. That's a great bonus tip. Let's move to turn up, turn down. These two are opposite, and we use them for volume or saying yes or no to an offer. Perfect pair. Turn up and turn down our opposite. And they have two main everyday meanings each. So we'll stick to the most common. First for volume, turn up means to make sound louder. Turn down means to make a quieter example. Can you turn up the music? I love this song, or please turn down the T. V. I'm trying to study. Second for offers, turn up means to arrive casual. Turn down means to say no to an offer example, a lot of people turned up to the party last night, or SHE turned down the job offer because I was too far from home. Two meanings, but both easy to remember, and we use them all the time. That's a great pair. Opposites are easier to learn together. Let's do one more super common one before we practice with conversations. Get along with this ones we're talking about relationships with people. Get along with is to have a good relationship with someone, to not fight with them. Definition, to be friendly with someone and have a pleasant relationship. Example, I get along with my coworkers really well. We're like friends. Or do you get along with your little brother? It's perfect for talking about family, friends, co workers, neighbors, any relationship. And it's so natural to use that. Such a useful one for talking about people. All right, let's recap the phrasal verbs we ve covered so far, nine of the most common everyday, once all, easy to use. Pick up, figure out, chill out, give up, look forward to put off, take care of. Turn up, turn down. Get along with all of these are the ones we use every single day. No obscure phrase of verbs, just the ones you need. exactly. These are the ones you will hear in every casual chat every year and every workday. Now let's make this practical. Let's do two short conversations, one casual with friends and one a little more every day at a cafe, air and run, and will use as many of these phrasal verbs as we can. That way you can see how they fit naturally, not just an isolated sentences. Are you be the friend slash cafe stranger, i'll be me. Let's start with the casual . french t all right, let's go. Super casual like we're texting or hanging out. Hey, what are you doing this weekend? I'm just onna chill out at home. I've had a busy week. What about you? Any plans? I'm looking . forward to going to the park with my sister. I have to pick up from her house first, though. Can you take care of my plant while i'm out? I forgot to water at this morning. Of course I can. No problem. I was going to figure out what to make for dinner tonight, but I keep putting this off. I might just order pizza instead. Smart move. Pizza is always a win. Do you get along with the new neighbor who moved in next door? I saw her yesterday and he seemed nice. I do SHE popped bed to say hi, and we talked for a bit. SHE even offered to help. If I ever needed, I would never turn down that offer. That's awesome. Neighbors like that are the best. All right, I have to go. I'll see you next week. Take care. You too have fun at the park. perfect. That's a natural franchet. And we used aid of our phrasal verbs IT flow so well. And you don't even notice the phrase verbs because they're just part of the conversation. Now let's do the everyday iron slash cafe a little more formal, but still casual, like talking to a boris sta or a coworker. Ayman, you'd the buried a slash coworker. All right, let's go cafe casual. Hi there. What can I get for you today? Hi, can I get a lot te, please? And i'm also here to pick up a payment. Ry, for my co worker, SHE asked me to grab . IT for her sure thing, lotte, and a pastry coming right up. Do you work nearby? I see you here a lot. I do. I work at the office down the street. I get along with all my co workers, which makes the day so much Better. We were supposed to have a team lunch today, but we had to put IT off because one of us is sick. That's a bar. Team launches the best. Can I turn up the music? little? It's pretty quiet in here today. and i'd love the song absolutely go for. I'm looking forward to my break later. I need to figure out how to finish this project i've been working on. I know that feeling. I keep putting off cleaning my apartment and it's a mess. All right, here's your latte in pastry. enjoy. Thank you so much. Take care and . have a great day. You too see you in. wow. That's a perfect cafe chat. And we used almost all our freezer verbs. IT sounds so natural, right? That's the key with freezer verbs. Don't overthink them, just use them like we do. They'll start to feel easy. exactly. The biggest mistake learners make is overcomplicating phrasal verbs or trying to learn too many at once. Stick to these nine first. Use them in your chats, and once they feel natural, you can add more. And a quick final tip for everyone, listen for these phrasal verbs in real life, in this podcast, in TV shows, in coffee, and repeat them out loud. Repetition makes them stick, and soon you'll be using them . without even thinking. All right, everyone, that our deep dive into everyday freezer verbs you actually use recovered nine of the most common ones, broke down their meanings, gave real life examples, and even acted out two natural conversations to show you how to use them. I hope this episode made phrasal verbs feel less scary and so doable for you. They're just part of everyday english, and you can master them with a little practice. absolutely. Every time you use one IT is easier, and soon your english will sound more natural influent, because native speakers use freezer verbs all the time. Now let's talk about your easy practice chAllenge for this week.
